It still only amounts to less than 7% of our energy consumption....before we are forced to use highly toxic fluorscent bulbs in 2012...maybe it will be a much larger percentage after that. It was a good idea at the time but really does little in 2011 in regards to the demand for electricity. The problem is that certain groups would rather restrict our electrical consumption than allow nuclear power facilites. Anyway I'm afraid unless a dam becomes structurally unsound they will never come down because to many structures are in the flood plains of most of the dams.

Thx to everyone for their input. I think I have some of that tourney 2lb I might try it. I love the Maximum line but I can buy a lot of excel and respool all the time and still have saved money. I have some maximum I have on a spinning rod that's been on for two years and it's had reel magic on it before and after every use and it's still as strong as the day I put it on. Good stuff. Not really familiar with P-Line other than braided and for Jig fishing 1/8 oz jigs fluro and braid won't work because they have no give. But fluro is the best for jig and float and braid is the best bass line.

Only a few percent of our power is hydroelectric and I wonder what the cost return ratio has been. Extremely expensive to operate these dams.

For those who use 2lb mono what brand are you using? I like bass pro excel but they don't make excel under 4lb.

I think the President said before the superbowl that 8 out of every 10 dollars going to entitlements, cutting everything else the governement spends won't really solve the long term problems but may actually create some if we aren't careful. I think these cuts would be problematic. That being said everyone wants a smaller goverment they just are willing to give up what they get to have it.

Your clients should pick a different day 11 degress not only doesn't agree with white grease it also freezes the small eye on rod tip on every single cast. I love to fish but I can't imagine paying to fish Taneycomo with a guide when it's 11 outside. I've fished all kinds of spinning gear and for jig fishing trout the lower end models like Bass Pro Megacasts are just fine and as long as they are anti-reverse with a mininmum of 6 ball bearing will do for most people and I like the fact if they drop my mega cast and bass pro micro light in the lake I'm only out $50 in total. Maybe if you and Phil get some idle time on your hands you can video the difference of hook ups on taney between a $200 spinning reel and a $20 Mega Cast given the experienced fishermen you are.

Let me qualify my statement. I'm not trashing Taneycomo as I fish there plenty, but I was simply calling out the White being called a ditch that's all.

The Buffalo is an awesome fishery. The White River is not a ditch and usually flows as it would without dams in place anyway and when combined with Norfork trophy area is better than Tanycomo any day of the week. period

You know what I also look forward to? When the newly elected MO State Legislature enacts a state wide sales tax system replacing the income tax and I buy all my goods in Arkansas and Oklahoma and online and cut off my sales tax money to MDC. What do you think about that possiblity?

I believe thier brown trout managment is better too (time will tell). I'm not going to debate bc I don't have to. I'm sick and tired of the most vocal supportors of MDC silencing any and all criticism of them. I'm not going to engage anyone on this subject agaign.

Eric: Do you feel that some of the poorest fish illegally due to the increased cost of licensing? Should the lowest income earners be subsidized by higher ones so that everyone gets a chance to enjoy the resources that they own? We are the state and the state owns the resources and not MDC right?
