  1. Phil: Who makes those jigs? 4lb line (clear or green) fluro or mono? What is that stickbait Bill was throwing? Thanks, BRBF
  2. Fish frys at lunch are a thing of the past I guess. You can't beat fresh trout filets for lunch.
  3. Be honest how often do you eat chicken per week? We want mega amounts of chicken, but don't want any foreign meat. We want domestic but don't want the operations in our back yard. These operations are cleaner than they have ever been. Can't have it both ways people. Having grown up in the poultry business 100 broilers is a joke. Each large house you see holds a couple thousand. The sad thing is all runoff ends up White River Basin (Table Rock) and my biggest complaint is the widespread use of commercial, industrial fertilizers at people's homes, golf courses (they don't stay green on their own) and agriculture. Chicken litter applied correctly actually doesn't run off and if tilled under stays for years. I think the point about the hatchery is somewhat valid. There is no way in hell they would get a DNR permit (in 2009) to put in a trout hatchery and trout park disrupting the natural flow of a national waterway.
  4. Trying to prepare for spring crappie fishing. Any information on Table Rock, Stockton, Bull Shoals and Pomme De Terre is appreciated. I have always fished with minnows, but would like to jig fish. Any basic information is appreciated on Crappie fishing.
  5. Just go back to your lodge, tent or camper and fry up a mess at lunch time then head back out for the afternoon. Opps I forgot they might be watching you from Plane, trees or satellite. Better not do that unless you are
  6. I didn't see that stupid bill when I went to JJ's link. Thank goodness.
  7. This is the email I was sent regarding this legislation The bill that is being pushed in 18 states (including Illinois and Indiana) requires all ammunition to be encoded by the manufacture a data base of all ammunition sales. So they will know how much you buy and what calibers. Nobody can sell any ammunition after June 30, 2009 unless the ammunition is coded.. Any privately held uncoded ammunition must be destroyed by July 1, 2011. (Including hand loaded ammo.) They will also charge a .05 cent tax on every round so every box of ammo you buy will go up at least $2.50 or more! If they can deprive you of ammo they do not need to take your gun! This legislation is currently pending in 18 states: Alabama, Arizona, California, Connecticut, Hawaii, Illinois, Indiana, Kentucky, Maryland, Mississippi, Missouri, New Jersey, New York, Pennsylvania, Rhode Island, South Carolina, Tennessee, and Washington. Send to your friends in these states AND fight to dissolve this BILL!! Here is the link to NRA legislative issues webpage: http://www.nraila.org/Issues/FactSheets/Read.aspx?id=227 If time permits watch the video of the radio interview on this garbage.
  8. http://ammunitionaccountability.org/default.asp Be sure you click on Legislation so you can see Missouri is one of the states. If this is allowed to pass you will just have to find a drug dealer that will also sell your your ammunition. What a joke.
  9. OK. I am sure that many will wonder what I am after so I will give a little background. I have been fishing my whole life on rivers and mainly Taneycomo. I bought a 17' aluminum bass boat last year and by goodness my new years resolution is to fish more on lakes this upcoming year. I have two nice fish finders on my tracker boat, and occasionally I turn them on to see the water temperature, depth and sometimes I see stuff that looks like fish. I guess you could say that I am not fish finding inclined. What I am after is certain times of year that I shouldn't miss. White Bass, Crappie, Big Bass Spawns??? I am trying to target times of the year that I need to get out without having to spend my day looking at electronics to catch fish. So any information on which bite is a "no brainer" on lakes is appreciated. Like I said very limited lake fishing knowledge. So which bites on which bodies of water and times of year would be awesome help.
  10. Thanks for the responses. Sorrry I wasn't able to log on last night. To answer a few questions. 1) Firearm will be used for target shooting and protection not in the house. 2) I am a tightwade so my price range is probably in the $300-$400 price range 3) I really don't like cleaning guns, so I would probably opt for easy cleaning or just lubing occasionally. Brittssbirds: Wow you have dang near sold me on the Sig after that story. Thanks BRBF
  11. Agreed. Same greedy poachers are still around taking more than their limits though. Just imagine how wonderful the wildlife could be if more than 8% of $167,000,000 was spent on enforcement of the ever growing wildlife code. Just food for thought.
  12. Any opinions on manufacturers of 45 caliber handguns. I shot a glock this weekend and really liked it, but I want to hear from anyone who owns one and is happy with it.
  13. Will someone post a picture of Andy's house for reference? I am guessing a c-rig is a Carolia Rig.
  14. I heard somewhere that they have more funding per capita than any other state. Can someone confirm or refute this?
  15. Believers in bigger stronger government agencies shouldn't worry. Sounds like as soon as the economy rebounds (Obama predicts 8 years) this will be back to the forefront. Nonetheless a victory for landowners right now.
  16. Red-Tail Hawk a migrating bird. Thats a funny one. We have a red-tailed hawk here on the corner of the building at work and I don't think he has operated beyond a 1/4 mile radius his whole life. This kind of protection seems to never get amended. Do Herons migrate seasonally or just migrate to become a nuisance for someone else similar to red-tailed hawks?
  17. Congratulations. Sounds like a wonderful day. Many blessings we all have are just the simple things. OBTW Crazy will do just fine for me.
  18. What would one do with a Heron if a season was created? Are they good to eat?
  19. Thanks guys. I have a hard time replacing something that isn't broken. So I am sure I will have a hard time pulling the trigger on this. I expect that prices might fall by 200 dollars after Christmas.
  20. Any opinions on High Def LCD Tv's in the 46-52" range. I was told Samsung has taken over Sony's spot on number of high quality units sold and they are a few hundred dollars less. Just looking for everyone's opinions. Probably won't pull the trigger until after Christmas.
  21. Why is this? Just got back from my duck hunting trip in So. Il and there might be as many deer as people there. Are handguns also illegal in IL? My hunting buddy was worried because he has MO Conceal and Carry and forgot to leave his handguns at home.
  22. I love how the obvious is to burden a business owner already challanged with all kinds of governement crap (one of which is unpaid tax collector) with the need to baby sit their customers. Or the better approach. Prohibition on streams. I have an idea. Lets keep these U.S Citizens off the really good streams (keeping them for ourselves) and give them the really undesirable streams to party on? Problem solved. Can you say C O M M U N I S M?
  23. How can two generators produce as much as 4? Some days 4 are running and very little flow and some days two is flat moving? Do you just look at percentage of the total generating ability to look at flow?
  24. So if they are so effective on enforcing existing laws why do we need a new law? Should I start calling you a nickname like Little Pochontas?
