Whackem: I am not going to parse your response for many things I want to say. I can tell you this. No tournaments = no fish dead from Tournaments. And if you don't fish tournaments for money they shouldn't give any away for the winner. Now explain to me. Tournament participants have generally $20-$50,000 boats. GPS and fish finders which are now very sophisticated. With all the technology someone cannot come up with some way to document these fish immediatly and release them rather than run mach 1 mile after mile with them in the livewell. Sounds to me like the weigh in with sponsers banners and the like might play a little more importance in this than anyone will admit. People like to see these big bass hauled out in front of them. Just admit that. Bigredbirdfan

How about no more tournaments ? This is what I have suspected from tournaments for some time. How many events each year on TR? How many boats in each tournament? These tournaments are a waste of lots of resources, but I guess follow the money. Hope Branson really needs those extra tourism dollars at the expense of our not so precious resource.

Kansas Boy13 Good Job with your history of the Cheifs through the 90's. Maybe you should include the walls we ran into in the playoffs And yes you stick with them when they stink. Were you sitting in Arrowhead with about 100-200 other fans in the 80s? This fan base now will fill that stadium regardless sending no message to King Carl. By the way your extra periods and question marks do not add extra emphasis to your remarks. Cardiac said it all about the Cubs. Maybe you can tell us their recent history of near nothing in such detail as the Cheifs, or maybe you can tell us how there were no good teams (including Cubs) to give the Cards a run in 2006? Hey Cardiac: Maybe global warming has something to do with the Cubs?

Oaf Brain Trust

My boat is a tracker all welded 1997 and I just bought it in March from the 2nd owner. The only time water comes out of the plug is when I use it in the rain. Never a drop. Which reminds me to test the bilge pump to make sure it is working. I also have a rivited old boat leaks like crazy. My buddy had his old boat coated on the outside now it never leaks. Probably depends on your preference. -
Bill: Were those dollar amounts per person or for the pair?

Doesn't hurt to test it a bit and explore beliefs. Highly restrictive limits do nothing for the real poacher who is taking many more than 6 trout. We all know rural poachers who have never been caught and who poach deer all year long and there is nothing we can do about it. In many instances the CA even know who these people are. I commend your decision to get this individual. -

Now Chief, Come on. It can't be both cut and dry as well as at the discretion of the agent. Sounds a little contradictory. And let me assure you against what the national media has convenced you that non-liberals care about preserving resources. -

I want to protect all of the animals in ANWAR by drilling wells and removing that oil that might someday come out of the ground and kill the little animals. So you see I care about resources. And after all the area that should have already been drilled in on a scale is the size of a postage stamp on a football field. So I can be a conservationist, a liberal and a conservative. How cool is that? Now that I'm a liberal I feel all good inside. -
The rod says the following 8'5' 5-6 line. Does this help identify kind of line and related leader I need?

I thought those who protect resources were called conservationist. Most liberals aren't even sure where food comes from. -

Sorry to hear about your day of fishing. I know you head out with a relaxing peaceful day planned out. Then, bam your day changes. I left at 6:30 a.m. Saturday for Taneycomo to fish with a friend from St. Louis who came in to visit relatives and fish with me. 2 miles south of Saddlebrook kaboom flat tire and nobody will let me over to the right lane to get on the shoulder. Change the tire, back in business. Rain storm 2 Xs when we get on the water 1-2 inches of rain. Then the jet boat with 500 HP made his way upstream with no regard for parked boats throwing a 50 foot rooster tail out the back. Water turned brown from rain fishing turned to sucks. The moral of the story is listen to everyone and stay the heck away from the lakes on any holiday weekends.

I hope they were better than the fishing Saturday. Battled a flat trailer tire on the way down Saturday . 2 rain storms , loss of adequate power on my outboard motor . Then the lake water turned a lovely brown color . Pretty much just sucked. Trav: Caught one on first case though. Then another. I say poowey to the first cast jinx. We did go swimming in a very warm 72 degree Bull Creek.

I would have to agree with the previous posts on over both people's daily limit. Just to other points that have been made. I can assure you that a lot more people will be catching food as a source of nourishment and after you spend the kind of money it now costs for a daily fishing trip in "put and take" bodies of water a family deserves to take home a limit for dinner regardless of who caught them. -
Thank you. I will post a report as well.

Supreme Court Upholds 2nd Amendment...
bigredbirdfan replied to jdmidwest's topic in Conservation Issues
Have you bought a gun lately? I have. Bought one to go duck hunting last January. Had to go through a Federal Background check. Did such a through job I never got my gun in time to hunt. Seem restrictive enought to you? A law abiding citizen wanting a new gun to hunt with but didn't get one. I have had enough of my freedom eroded in this country in the name of "common good." This is the same liberal B.S. that all do gooder liberals think. Pretty soon the only ones left with guns are the criminals you refer to. This country is headed down a terrible path of control and less freedom and my friends if it is not stopped soon there will be no reversal of it. I will agree with you on criminals with guns. There is the control you so desperatley seek. They are the ones that should be in jail if they are caught with guns. As far as discharging firearms of any kind they are within the law and I would guess not a whole lot of crime in those parts either. -
Thanks Michael. I will come in for the fly line and bring my existing equipment.

twosets: Probably so. I have never fished a micro jig on a spinning rod so the transition should be seemless . Any info on that technique would be appreciated. I have a few micro jigs in my tackle box, mostly dark green in color.

I go with a guide at Norfolk a couple of times a year. You can find one there but try to find good ones. Unfortunately fishing is the ecomony down there and they can throw any idiot in a boat to fish with you if you let them. You can also rent your own boat if you feel comfortable doing that and know enough basics about fishing. I have found little to no relationship to the fish at Taneycomo and the White river except powerbait. I would fish a ginger colored White River Zig Jig (Google this) 1/16 oz if low flow and 1/8 oz if medium flow. I would fish a CD 7 or 9 in any water condition.

Welcome to Ozark Anglers Forum. I look forward to you contributing in other ways after going to the trouble to join and not just through out insults about our geographical and historical lineage.

There are several places you could bank fish or fish from public fishing piers or docks. They are located on Taneycomo at Roark Creek and further up toward Hollister Bridge at the Branson Campground on the other side of Branson Landing at the Bass Pro Shop end. You will want to use bait on the bottom more than likely at these spots. I am sure you will get more responses then mine but I fish from a boat at this location and see a fair amount of fish caught by people fishing there.

Wow. I am usually involved in heated subjects on this forum but didn't expect it here. Anyway thank you for your willingness to try to help me. You are correct. I don't even know the length of my rod. I would say 7'5" as a guess and my dad bought it for me to primarily bass fish on Ozarks streams if that helps with the weight. I will obtain this information when I get home from work. I am thinking of maybe devoting it to popping bugs or other topwaters you might suggest for the summer in creeks and along banks for bass and bluegill. Unless you all think I should set it up for trout. The micro floats I can do with ultra light spinning gear. I might just get a (1) whole new rod and reel so I can fish upper Taneycomo as well. I will tell you though I have gone on three trips where I went to the fly shop at Pro Bass and the guy with a handle bar mustache has been dead on with my lure selections for trout. Nothing against Backcountry I am sure they would have done the same I just happened to be there for some other fishing equipment and didn't have the time to go to both.
