No, little 16' fiberglass tri-hull fishing boat. I felt sorry for the guy, but man.... -

Old fashioned idiocy is still alive and well too. Pull up to Monte Ne at 6 tonight only to find a boat pulled up to the shore, ON THE RAMP. The elderly gentleman who owns it, then slowly makes his way to his truck, starts backing up and tears off his left headlight by hitting the trailer next to him. There were a couple of people with him, so I didn't feel the need to offer any help or advice on ramp etiquette. I certainly respect my elders, but that was a 1st class cluster. -

I fished a very small section of the the lake Saturday, where the Kings flows into the main channel. We went to the back of a couple creeks and caught fish flipping bushes and laydowns. If you find some water running into the dirtier stuff I believe you'll find some bass. I'm sure there's other ways to catch them right now, but I love flipping and it was working Saturday.

Matt Arey from Shelby, NC wins with 59.3. Rogers' Travis Fox 4th with 54.8. Who had 59.3?

When Mike got back into B.A.S.S. and starting winning again ('03, 04'?) his wife Stacy called our tv station to give us a heads up about some of his wins/finishes. Ended up shooting some fishing tips with him for our Sports Final show on 40/29 in NWA and he was such a nice guy. Been rooting for him ever since. That's a helluva leaderboard chasing him. -
After fishing as a co-angler in the FLW, I can attest to this. I've been on and around boats my whole life, but never came as close to soiling myself as I did when riding with a few of those guys.

I like the YUM Flashmob Jr. Doesn't feel like a ton of bricks and I've caught fish on it using Keitechs, the swimming Zoom flukes and today on some cheap Berkley swimbaits I got on sale at Academy. That's targeting bass. You could probably get by with grubs this time of year going after white bass. But I'm far from an expert. Caught 3 fish in 4 hours today so take my advice with a grain of salt!

Stopped by Roaring River Saturday on the way to the lake and in the 5 minutes we were there stretching our legs, we watched a crane get a nice rainbow for lunch. He caught about as many as I did this weekend.

We're coming to K-City from NWA to stay in a cabin for a little getaway weekend Sat and Sunday night and I can't imagine not bringing my boat. But I was worried about the ice too. Any reports out there?

Thanks man. I need to tag along sometime on your famous trolling trips.

Yes, she was successfully released and I watched her swim off. And yes Scott, I am enjoying my newfound freedom. As for the shad, I ran out of Monte Ne to Horseshoe Bend and back to the docks south of the mouth of Monte Ne, which is where I caught her. So no reports of shad in Monte Ne, but I can tell you, my graph was pretty quiet on the few spots I did hit. Saw some some guys trolling for stripers in Monte Ne and others jigging spoons around Horseshoe Bend.

We spent several days in Cotter about 3 weeks ago and had low water the entire time. I always recommend His Place Resort. Julie and Steve, the owners, are very helpful. They have campsites and all kinds of cheap cabin options. Right on the river, great access and great fishing right there in front of the resort. Plus you can drive a few miles down to White Hole which has some great fishing as well. Google them up. Stayed there a bunch and love it.

No problem! We usually bass and walleye fish up there. Caught some Sunday a little bit further down river closer to the Beaver bridge. And yeah, I know what your talking about with that fog. Got caught in it one night last summer...Even with lights on the boat, it's a pretty uncomfortable feeling going through that thick fog with no idea whats in front of you.

Bass fishing? Trout? Walleye? Im planning on heading up there tomorrow from Rogers. Any info would be much appreciated!! Thanks

http://www.4029tv.com/news/arkansas/Investigators-work-to-find-cause-of-fatal-boat-explosion/-/8897494/20300194/-/6pny6z/-/index.html Terrible story from today at Beaver.

Monday mid-day, I had one of my best largemouth days on Beaver by flipping a dark brush hog in the gnarliest stuff I could find. The bigger and more complex the lay down, the bigger the bass. Spent about 4 hours in one creek and had a blast. But it's Beaver. And that was 3 days ago. Tomorrow I'm thinking I should throw a chatterbait in 10-15 fow.

I got the opportunity to fish the FLW last week as a co-angler, and even though it didn't end up turning out like I wanted it to on the fishing end, it was a great experience regardless. Wendesday nights pre-tournament meeting was like walking into a who's who of bass fishing. Gary Yamamoto, Roland Martin, Jason Christie, David Fritts were just a few of the pros I sat by. Irwin Jacobs, the CEO of FLW, spoke for about 20 minutes, which apparently he rarely does. He talked a lot about wanting the pros to talk up their sponsors at every opportunity. Harping a lot on how important they are to the sports success. He also talked about how he just got back from a week in China. How they want to be like the U.S. when it comes to tournament fishing. How he wants to help globalize the sport. But China has a long way to go, where it's apparently illegal to pull boat down the road on a trailer. Afterwards, met up with my day one pro, Joe Don Setina from Texas. Thursday, I think we were boat 112, and about 110 of the boats in front of us ran north to the clear water, where we were headed. I've been in a number of pro boats and been through several takeoffs, but that one Thursday had me gripping the "Oh sh** handle" on that Ranger to the point of cramps in my forearm. Like a NASCAR race on the water. We fished around Big Clifty all day, except for a little bit by the the Sail boat club. Is that Lost Bridge south? My pro threw an a-rig and wiggle wart in the back of creeks all day long. That afternoon, we just kept cycling through the same 3 creeks, looking for his fish that were biting in practice. He ended up with 5 keepers. I ended up with 2: a barely legal largemouth and a barely legal spot. Caught mine on a shaky head with a 4' Keitech and a shad rap. But, we were 3 minutes late to check-in, so my 2-11 got zeroed and his 8 pounds got knocked down to 5. Oh well. Got to walk across the stage and weigh in my fish before they were zeroed! Still a great day and I had some confidence I would catch at least a couple more keepers Friday. Friday I was paired with Billy McDonald from Indiana. Super nice guy, but he kind of struggled Thursday and planned to just "go fishing" Friday. He too, was fishing in the "Cliftys". He threw the a-rig about 90% of the time on windy points, picking up 3 keepers throughout the day. I chucked that thing all day too, thinking 5 chances at a bite are better than one. Somehow I couldn't connect with a single green fish. Several white bass and a 6-7 pound striper, but that was it! In the end, I zeroed. Frustrating on one hand, but I got to live a dream for a few days that a lot of folks don't get to experience. Wouldn't trade it for the world. Plus, I got paired with two very nice, down to earth pros who let me fish. And if you've ever been in the back of the boat in tourneys like that, you know that's not always the case. All in all, a great time, but the competitor in me was definitely left wanting more.

The bass fishing wasn't that great. Rat-L-trap and shad rap caught us a few, but nothing real consistent.

Put in at Monte Ne and ran over to Horseshoe Bend, bass fishing, when she hit a chartreuse and white War Eagle spinnerbait in about 10 feet of water. Baked beans, homemade cole-slaw, and thick,Tony Cachere's seasoned striper fillets completed the process. Thank you Lord for the bite and a beautiful day!

We launched at Lost Bridge South Tuesday and it was fine.

My buddy and I got out one day last week and were catching a few here and there before the Keitechs started really catching them. Impressive little baits.
