  1. Does anyone know if the parking lot at the ramp is back under water again? Thanks for any help.
  2. My son was able to take his first this year during youth season. First morning we were close but not close enough and on the second morning they finally got fired up and was able to work them pretty good. A lot of fun watching him get all excited when he could tell they getting closer by the sounds of the gobbles. He’s been the last couple of years but this is the first year it’s all came together. Had one beard at 10” and one at about 1”. Spurs were 3/4” and 20lbs.
  3. I'd say anything from hooten on down is good. The fishing from hooten down is alot better, it doesnt get fished as much, plus you wont have to deal with all the people. Good luck!
  4. Was wondering if anybody was catching anything around cedar ridge? Thanks any help is appreciated.
  5. Ive only heard a couple gobble but the same thing when they hit the ground they quit. Ive seen some out strutting and they all already had hens with them. Good luck on the upcoming season, cant wait.
  6. RSBreth, that was great info on the site that you had about the "judge" it was very informative and good to see the outcome of the loads that were shot through it. Totally agree with you on the practice stand point, and even then practice doesn't make perfect. In my opinion, the best self-defense gun is a gun that you have the most confidence in shooting. Anyways good info.
  7. Did they get to use the new facility last year? Anyways it sounds like its working and ought to be great for the fishing in the future for the browns.
  8. I caught one last saturday in the park area. It hit my jig as it was falling and just took off with it. It put up a pretty good fight, fun to catch. I didn't even know they were in there until i caught one.
  9. Scudman, sorry if i affended you. But it was a little wierd when the guy couldn't even see the water from both locations that he parked at.
  10. Around were i deer hunt just outside of Norwood,Mo a guy showed us some pic from a trail came that he supposibly had that took some pics of a cougar or mountain lion, im not sure but you could tell by the background in the pics that they wern't from down there. Theres alot of those out there. I have found tracks while hunting though that are cat tracks that are bigger than your fist in stone county. Just interesting to me. If its a bob cat its a big one.
  11. Taurus makes good guns and they shoot well. I have shot a couple and they were great to shoot. And the judge would be great for self-defense with the .410 load because its going to spray the pellets so much that you can't miss with it, what ever you soot it at your going to hit. Tim have you ever shot any saber toothed otters?lol.
  12. The fishing seemed to be fair for most people today the ones I caught came on a white jig. I was just working it off the chunk gravel bottom. I got frustrated with the fly rod due to the wind so all of them were on a spinning rod. But the guys fishing around me were catching them left and right with hackles. Im just not as good as they were with a fly rod. I did end up with a nice one that was about 18 inches but all the other were stocker size. When i was leaving i did notice some suspicious behavior. There was a guy setting in a new lexus a spot over from my truck when I and a couple other guys came up to the parking lot he just sat there a couple of minutes and kept looking around like he was watching for somthing, after a few minutes he left. When i was leaving he was parked in the nexted parking lot just sitting in his car again do the same thing. I'm not sure what he was up to, but he defintley wasn't going fishing were a long slieve button up collar shirt. Good luck fishing!
  13. What are trout beads and where can you get them? Do any stores around here sell them? Just wondering because i've never seen them before and would like to give them a try.
  14. Thanks twosets for the advice. We'll try and stop by. I saw phil's video awhile ago and forgot all about it thanks for the reminder. Never tried a jig on a flyrod i'll give it a try.
  15. A buddy and I are heading down tomorrow afternoon. Was wondering if anybody had any sugestions on what to use. We might fish with jigs down in the fall creek area and was wondering what depth would be the best. And even a suggestion on what size jigs. Who knows we might just leave the boat on the trailer and just fish up by the dam. Any sugestions is appricated. Thanks!
  16. Ya, I saw you I was in the white dodge parked down by the park. They say they are catching alot at roaring river, but they are starting to get line spooky so use a 6x or 7x tippet and you should catch them. Some of them are really good size ones too. Good luck.
  17. The muskie looking fish was the pickerel, I talked to a buddy today and he told me thats probably what it was and the other one was a chub, but i don't know what kind. Sorry that you got skunked redbird. I stayed in the park area the whole time and went down under the bridge a little ways but didn't catch anyting down there. I think I might have saw you car what were you driving? Ya it was a pretty good time, at least for my first time anyways. Can't wait to go back and catch a big one!
  18. Well I made the trip for a couple of hours yesterday and it was a blast. I started out with the fly rod and had some hits, just to slow on the hook set. I ended up catching one that was about 8 inches. So then i swithced to the spinning rod and caught 4 in about thirty minutes. Most of the time they would hit the jig as it was falling. Two of them were rainbows about the same size as the first one, then i caught some wierd looking fish that i have no clue what it was. It looked like a sucker but had a mouth like a catfish, not sure what it was though. Then i caught a fish that i would never have guessed to have caught in any creek in missouri, it was a muskie about 12 inches long. I couldn't believe it until it opened its mouth and i saw all the teeth inside. Anyways it was fun to catch, it put up a pretty good fight. Anybody else caught or seen one in there? Thanks for the advice on the spinning rod, it was well worth it to take it along. Can't wait to make it down there again.
  19. I might be heading down tommorow and didn't know if you could use roostertails and jigs. I will mostly be fishing with flies but just wondering if it would be worth taking a spinning reel or not. Any help is apperciated thanks! Good luck fishing.
  20. I've seen some in the past down in texas on here but i haven't seen any around this area.
  21. Nice deer. I ended up missing a big doe friday morning. Only had a doe tag left so i was trying to get it with my muzzelloader. It didn't work out oh well. Maybe get one in anterless season or somthing with my bow. Anyways nice deer glad somebody got one.

    Anyone Been?

Was wondering if anybody has been muzzleloading with any luck yet. I've been out a couple of times and was seeing a lot of deer before gun season and a lot during gun season. But now im not seening anything, im sure we are in the post rut now and the deer might not just be moving as much. I know that there is another little rut for last years yearlings to come in but as far as i know it hasn't happened yet. Good luck to everybody.
  23. Glad you got him on the second shot. Saturday moring I got a six-pointer. I was there less than an hour and he walked up to 30 yards and saw me move got him stoped at sixty yards after he took off running and let the .300 win sing well he didn't act like i hit him and ran to about a hundred yards and stopped broadside. Shot again and he just looked around like he was trying to figure out what was going on. So i chambered another shell and shot again. This time he just fell over. I couldn't belive that i might have missed twice, especially since i knew my gun was on. I later found out that all three shots had hit him, 2 threw the front shoulders and the other just a little back. On sunday moring had a doe come in and took her at about 80 yards again with the .300 win and she dropped at the crack of the rifle. I think next year im going to a higher grain. Good luck to every body else.
  24. The slug is your best bet. It's going to have a lot more nock down power and your only going to have one hole in the deer instead of a bunch.
  25. Gald he found them let me know how you do.
