My official guess on this one is two and 1/4 pounds, based upon my estimation of Wrenchs total weight back then, which appears to be around 95 pounds.. Wonder who's put on more girth since then, Wrench or the Fish? BWAH HA HA HA

Ever had the transmission replaced or repaired? Have you checked your U-Joints? -

(the camera always adds 5 pounds, I am accountng for that) dunno which picture you fellers are looking at, but the second one clearly shows that the fish is dang near as big as the pond! But it was prolly a wimp and just limped right in, didn't it? lol nice fish, nice catch.. And way to handle the responses, it's all in good fun..

How Many Knots Do U Use?
FishinCricket replied to SilverMallard's topic in General Flyfishing Topics
Uh, I'm gonna hafta study those diagrams a bit just to tell you what in the world I use! I think I use a barrel knot or (more commonly) a fishermans figure 8 (s'what granpa always called it, I believe it's the improved clinch knot maybe) No, wait.. New answer.. I don't tie knots, I make wrench do it for me! lol (if I didn't say it he would have.. Lol) -
Indeed, welcome to our little fishing safe haven... (lol I'm awefully possessive, considering I don't own the place.. Feel free to feel the same!) I'm down in Lebanon if you need anything or want a few good spots to fish that aren't too far away.. I echo the questions above, and again welcome you to the forum with a hardy: Cheers!

Good grief Man! Are you at all interested in my (recently developed) "Adopt a Man-Child" Program? lol (You know I was just joshin' ya about the mount stuff, right..? I was sure you knew that stuff already..) well I'm glad you hooked him, sounds like it was a fun time. Next time play him a little longer and get him in the net! See ya on the streams! -
Wow.. Just wow.. (see, this is one of those moments I was talking about in my "standing on the shoulders of genius" thread) 29 posts in 4 and a half years, and I bet every single one of them is just as awesome as this one.. JJ, I suggest you take him up on his offer if you can.. Extremely generous of him.

Dang, sounds like you had good luck this weekend and are making up for it with the truck now! Sorry to hear of the one, and glad to hear of the other... I will keep my eye out for one of those trucks for you.. Reg/Club/Quad cab? Sounds like a specific request, just PM me if there's anything else you can think of that is required (or conversely if one of the above requirements changes).. I'll PM you if I come up with anything... Looks like this next weekend will be a good one for the C&R, you gonna be around on Sunday perchance, or just saturday?

You keep working on it, you'll get that one mounted eventually... How big do ya think it was? (You do know you can get a mount from a picture now, right? Catch that monster and take a pic, then toss em back and give me a chance at him?) Oh, and thanks for the info about the browns.. I think I may have just decided what hole to hit on wednesday... -
Ah, thanks JJ

Bill- If your friend has the money, I would fight the ticket on principle.. Too bad he can't get the deer back. Was it a good one?

Good report! Were you wading, I assume? And did you carry two poles or were you fishing the glo balls on an ultralight? Guess what I'm trying to say is, what kinda set up were you fishing with?
-
Thanks PC! Nope, still stuck in my hat.. lol (thanks for reminding me!) What's Kype mean? where'd it come from?

Stormy day, drizzled and spit all day and downpoured once or twice for a few minutes.. The wife had to go in to work some OT, so I took the opportunity to do my second favorite thing in the world! The spring is up a bit, but stil plenty clear and fishable.. Just watch where you step! I started my adventure in the spring hole and managed to coax two trout into biting my fly (that's right, I used my fly rod first! Wrench would be proud), but neither made it al the way in.. I spotted a monster brown that wasn't taking my fly (and I watched him long enough that I got irritated) and so I went back to the Tracker and got out the ultralight.. Got him on the first cast! But alas, he spit it out and headed for the deep section. I got the fly rod back out and fished for another hour in the 200 yard stretch past the spring hole.. Nuttin, and none of the other fly guys were hooking up either. So I decided to get the maribou and the ultra light back out. Caught four or five more stockers there and had to use the bathroom so I headed back up to the store. After grabbing a quick snack and a cup of joe, I parked next to the dam and walked over to the hole above the dam... I stood on the edge of the concrete and bounced my jig around long enough to hook up with a few stockers and even had one big bow chase the jig all the way back up to my feet! Strolled on down to the rocks just below the dam on that side and hooked up with two pretty decent browns and one fat little 14 inch bow, she was a SOW.. NO pic though, I was perched precariously on slippery rocks and all I had was my iphone.. Besides, if you've seen one 14 incher you've seen em all, eh? Cruised down even further and there was a guy standing just below the bridge there on the downstream side.. So I stepped down onto the rocks on the upstream side and teased a few more trout out with the Black and White Maribou.. Seemed like the fish wanted to see it running a bit, then they would come after it ferociously.. That's just what this big bugger did. He hit my jig three times before he committed.. Then he was kind of a pansy.. lol He had a big nasty knot on the tip of his lower jaw and he had fishing line wrapped around it in a bunch, with an orange anvil egg hooked through it.. Cleaned all that off and put him back, but asked the fellow (who had by then come on over to watch me catch him) standing there to take a picture of me with it first.. Definitely exciting to be able to watch a big one like that come up and bump your lure a few times then hammer it.. It was getting wet and nasty so I went and sat in the Tracker for a little while, then decided to cruise on down to the Suzy Hole and see if the Goggleye had moved up yet. No they have not, but I did manage to tease a few more bigger bows out of the depths, and one 15 inch smallmouth! I decided to go in search of the goggleye, so I went on down to the outlet at the end of zone three. They've staged up at the mouth, and there were quite a few there to be caught. I spent about 20 minutes hooking one every cast, and even managed to tease up a decent 14-18 inch smallie.. I guesstimate because halfway in my little maribou's hook snapped in half! (bless it's lil pea-pickin' heart) Thought I had broke off, then thought he had simply spit it out.. Upon my next hook up and spit out I decided to look at the hook, and there was no hook.. lol For around a dollar apiece those things at the baitshop store are kinda wimpy! lol Anyways, I cruised back up to the hole under the bridge where I'd had the best luck, put my waders back on and put my fly rod back together.. Tied on a itzy bitzy maribou jig in black and white and tried it for a few minutes.. Just couldn't get confident with it, I suppose.. Walked back up an got the ultralight, came back down and cast in and it was on like donkey kong! Stayed there til about 3 pm then it started to pour, so I packed it up and headed home... Ended the day with a fishcount of around 50, definitely one of my most productive days in the park.. Anybody else make it down to Bennett this Weekend?

Nice fish, Buzz.. That bottom one looks wore plumb out!

Wow, thanks Thom! I hope that if anyone here picks up anything from me (besides maybe a few laughs) it's the simple ideal I outlined above about being good to one another. You are all great people, even if we have our differences at times, and I am glad to have this line of communication with you all. Can you hear the guitar strum? Kumbaya, My lord.. Kumbaya... Oooh Lord, Kumbaya... (tehe, hiccup)

That's on the list as well, buddy.. For sure. And I am truly sorry I have missed the OAF events. I don't even have a freakin' hat yet, and I promised myself I was buying one of those! lol thanks for the comment, you do resemble part of that (and as usual, my conversation with an intellectual opposition helped change my mind a bit regarding that issue).. Peace, see ya soon hopefully...
