  1. Welcome, don't forget that in the membership agreement you implicitly agreed to take me on any lake ozark fishing trips, when my schedule permits of course. I'll forward that schedule to you whenever you are ready. Lol Seriously, welcome to the forums. What's your fish of choice? Sounds like a bass boat, eh? What you got? What kinda truck do you pull it with? What's your favorite lure? Who's your favorite pro fisherman? What did you wanna be when you grow up? Do you enjoy the fifth degree? (wink)
  2. right on, right on! I'll be in contact as soon as I can catch up with all my philanthropy efforts... Thanks!
  3. 1/16th ounce black and white maribou jig with a red head (Seems to be my answer for most of these type of questions... lol)
  4. Yeah, I'd say body language would say it all... I suppose if someone actually accused me of "snagging", my reply would prolly be "How ya figure?" If they were firm enough I would be forced to firmly retort with "Um, alright then.. Call the rangers, their number is...." lol
  5. I wouldn't be able to provide you with much information regarding the campgrounds at BSSP. I live so close that I have never camped there.. lol Sorry bout that. I have some really good friends and customers that own campgrounds down there (Sand Springs Resort, NRO, One Eyed Willies, Fort Bennett (might be wrong on the names).. But I wouldn't know who to suggest that might have openings... Man, don't let it get to you so bad... What can you do? Try the serenity prayer, eh? Smile at em, tell em what they are doing is illegal, and go on.... Or: Stop for a moment and tell them a story about an amazing lunker and how you sight fished it for 20 minutes... Make the story sizzle, make them wanna try it for themselves. I used to be one of those kids snagging suckers on the river.. Then one of the (apparently rare) happy go lucky fly guys stopped and took the time to actually put me on a lunker and show me how to catch him (with my treble hooked rapala teeny craw that I still use).. Didn't take the guy but about 5 minutes and I was hooked for life. Later other fisherman have helped me to understand what being a good steward of the fish and the fishery really means, but it all started with that last day of stringing up massive amounts of goggleye and snagging suckers and the one guy who, instead of chewing me out (which many others had done) took the time and effort to continue the art of being a good steward of the river systems and the fishery. PS: Don't take my rant personally, you seem like a nice person with very good intentions, a good steward of our streams. I look forward to fishing along side you, I just wanna know it's ok to bust out the powerbait if I have to.. lol
  6. Indeed, thanks much guys... I learned quite a bit just from this one thread. Imagine what a little reading might do for me?
  7. Thank you for that common sense post, BM... Keep me on your list of contacts for your next trip to Bennett? I'm all about the unorthodox methods, as well as good river fellowship. I am headed to the current in October, maybe we (You, Wrench and I... Heck, even Scuds if he'll play nice) could plan a day?
  8. Golly, thanks Greg! Is this the part where I mention that I'm always exceedingly nice to people who offer to give me fishing equipment? Yeah, this has been a thoroughly interesting thread... We all need to pick a date during the winter C&R to get together and terrorize one of the springs.... Whadda y'all say?
  9. Oh, there's definitely something wrong with me.. After all I am asking you to go fishing. lol I don't sell the insurance, I sell the cars. Bit of a difference, but I get your point (bottom of the sea with the lawyers and such), but I think you'd be pleasantly suprised with my outlook on things. Most are. (even being from Lebanon, which isn't all that bad) let me know when you are ready to see the pirhana crappie, they were actually good practice for casting the fly rod out of the boat or canoe.. (and I do need the practice)
  10. And your sure you don't want to try my Pirhana Crappie? Might be just the ticket! Honestly though, the only think that would be cooler than a world record crappie would be world record Pirhana Crappie! Right? Think about it, friend. Meantime, wanna go fishin'?
  11. You guys are killing me! lol this is the first time I can think of that I have actually wanted to catch and eat a lunker brown... lol Naw, just teasin'.. I feel the same way about smallmouth. Of course, then again, they don't stock and breed smallmouth around here... Hmm (scratches head) Sooooo, um yeah.. Thanks for the report.
  12. See, now were having fun yall... Buckshot, any chance of talking you into stocking hammerhead sharks and Grouper? I always wanted to catch one of those.. Or ride one.
  13. That's the confusing part, the last time I was down there a park ranger stopped to check my license and watch me hook a few. He asked why I wasn't keeping them, and proceeded to give me a funny look when I said "Didnt think it was legal".. He said "That only applies to trout... I think?" not that I want to keep them, they are too fun to catch!
  14. Did you do any good though?
  15. There's a host of goggleye below the spring, they all populate the Suzyhole during the winter season.. Never did find out if it was legal to keep those outta there...? What's the length and creel limit on em anyway? Wrench, youre crackin' me up... lol
  16. Says the guy driving the Z06 Vette... lol (sorry, but that's funny right there)
  17. What kinda setup, a broomstick and nylon rope, or what? I have caught fish 1/3rd that size that I had to fight for longer than 45 seconds! lol
  18. not that I would be any authority on this, but my marine biologist friends says this is a very incorrect assumption. Water temps alone can make a difference in what can and cannot be stocked in a pond... Then there are a billion other factors to consider...
  19. Did you mean 45 minutes (rather than seconds), Phil?
  20. I saw your thread title and I thought "Geeeez man, you musta taken too much if you're still high!" http://waterdata.usgs.gov/nwis/uv?06923250 thanks for the report! I see that the Gage peaked at almost 11 feet (6000 discharge).. It's down to under 4 ft and under 1000 discharge.. Should be cleared up by next week...
  21. Gotcha, thanks for the clarification... I saw your post here and remembered our PM's and thought I'd openly ask those who are more experienced to advise you about the fly fishing specifically.. Mainly just wanted to point out to you that I didn't forget to get back to you. Again, a laurel and hearty welcome to the forum!
  22. Max is looking for (specificly) Bennett and Niangua fly fishing advice.. Anybody feel like compiling a bit for him?
  23. Hey, there... Buddy! My guess is that the river is too shallow for spoonbill.. But I've been wrong before, haven't I?
  24. Man, I didn't think that situation could be any worse than it was.. Congrats on proving me wrong! Seriously, why in the world was this guy allowed to operate ANYTHING after that heli crash?
  25. Hey, I resemble that remark! lol
