  1. That was funny, thank you Grasshopper!
  2. Not really sure what's wrong with them, but the ones that looked like that were concentrated in one school under one particular tree overhanging the pond.. That's why I kept the picture, they're weird looking..
  3. I've always had good luck during midday swimming crawdads over where the riffles usually are in low water (what used to be a riffle with boulders and a 1 foot stream is now a rippling 3-5 foot with the boulders fully covered, if this makes sense).. Also a kastmaster seems to do a great job in highwater, cast it across the stream and basically just drift it, the fish hold up behind those (now hidden) stream breaks like logs and boulders and chase the lure out into the current. One things for sure, dragging in a large fish in a high current can be real fun, or a real headache!
  4. You say the word, I'll be there.. I have one Sunday booked that I can recall, thats Oct. 11 (Wifes birthday)
  5. Man, you have no idea how grateful I would be.. I'll offer to pay expenses to start with.. Any chance a Sunday would be okay? (most people have religious or other obligations, but it's the only day that I can be sure I won't have to bail out to get to the office quickly).. If not, you ust say when and I will schedule a vacation day.. I warn you, usually my first time fishing any body of water is usually magical...
  6. I saw what you did there, and I applaud your efforts to keep the conversations seperate and on a modicum of the topic. If I might make a suggestion? When you create that seperate thread for a tangent discussion, come back to the original thread and post a link to the tangent discussion, something like: This sounds like a tangent to the original topic, I have taken the liberty of created a thread for that topic here: http://ozarkanglers.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=19356
  7. I can honestly say that I have never caught a smallmouth in an impoundment, only on rivers.. Interesting post and report, thanks....
  8. Hey, nice to see ya! As I stepped up to my new favorite smallmouth hole and cast a minnow in I happened to notice a good hundred suckers staged up in the slackwater.. And I thought of you! When the water gets back down wanna come hit that spot and show me how to gig?
  9. *JOKER ALERT* Startin' ta wonder 'bout you fellas... lol FFM, whadda ya think yur doin postin this stuff, anyway? Next thing ya know we'll have the whole world comin' down ta fish my favorite spots! How're we ever supposed to keep fishing a secret if you keep blabbing about it? Naw, I'm jest teasin'.. Thanks for the report, looks like the low water may be over for a few weeks.. Glad you guys had fun, come back soon! *JOKER POST OVER*
  10. ooops, that might have been me... I use the term snag very loosely.. As in the slang definition "to catch"... So if you ever hear me saying that, I wasn't implying that you actually foul hooked or snagged the fish... Example: When asked by a passerby "Having any luck?". My answer might be: "Yeah, a little.. That guy up there has snagged three since my last one, better ask him instead..." Sorry for the confusion, don't let it spoil the fishing... (Ah, the English language, eh?) as for the true spoilsports on the river (and in the Parks)... Screw them and their lousy opinion, and be glad it didn't take a friendship and a few trips down the river with them to figure it out.. You found out real quick that they were a jerk, and lost nothing in the process.
  11. THIS (funny lookin) fella is the guy I was talking about! Good pic, even with your signature I am proud to call you friend. Next spring it is.... Motoman: My boat is prolly big enough, but I'm scared to put it in deep water... It's the only one I got! All is not lost, though.. I think I still have friends with boats.. I think.
  12. Airators are pretty cheap at Wally World... For these fish you can leave the pole at home and just being a cast net.. (And your welcome, of course.. Fishin's sposed to be fun!)
  13. Your Brother in Law sounds just like my brother in law!
  14. No laughing, it's a sick organization. I'll save you the trouble of looking it up, NAMBLA stands for North American Man/Boy Love Association. Sick, eh?
  15. Tell ya what's sad.. My Hanky isn't real, but NAMBLA is! (I had never heard of this organization until a few months ago.. Made me sick!)
  16. How can you be so sure I wasn't suggesting that he take you fishing? lol (jest teasin')
  17. Heck, he don't remind me of scudz at all... This guys posts are a little wacky, but they are funny in a 'I make sense" kinda way.. Now's Scudz son, the Philosopher, I'd like to see him come back.. Heya, BuckshotDad.. Seems as though (if I am reading this thread right) you are looking for a place to catch some crappie for a pond stock? I gotta place just outside of Lebanon that has a 3 acre pond that is OVERGROWN with Crappie, little tiny ones! 2-6 inchers on every cast with my fly rod for 5 hours straight (excellent practice).. I warn you though, they are Pirrhana crappie or something, in on corner of the pond I caught about 50 that looked like this: I am sure I could put you in contact with the old boy who owns it, and I am even more sure he would be happy to let you fish a few hundred out. Solves OTF's issue nicely too.. Look at Cricket, making friends and mending fences... lol PM me if you wanna know more sir... And thanks for the posts on this thread, you were crackin' me up!
  18. Wondered how many posts it would take before someone came along and pointed that out.. Spose your going to try and convince us that Santa, the Easter Bunny, Jesus and Mr Hanky the Christmas Poo aren't real either? Spoilsport...
  19. Ain't that the truth! I learned to flyfish in a stream full of white bass, THAT was a freakin' blast! Thanks for the report, wish I had a bigger boat (and a larger vehicle to pull it, lol) so I could utilize your info, sounds like you guys got it figured out....
  20. PETA hates you, don't they? lol Good points, sir.. Glad I got to read them (again). Wanna take a young dumb kid fishing sometime?
  21. I sure wouldnt mind being on that PM list....
  22. Seriously, if you are reading this and you haven't looked into a vacation at Lilley's... Well, words fail to describe what you are missing... The Lilleys level of ethics and customer service is pervasive in everything they do. Thanks for the post, and thanks again to Phil and Crew for all they do.. Big round of applause?
  23. Interesting.... Welcome to the forums! So did this "ghost angler" just dissappear, or what?
  24. That's what I would suggest.. PM me for specifics, the Niangua and Bennett are my local haunts..
