Is there any way I can block this thread from my computer? If my wife ever reads this I'll never get her to do that overnight float down the Eleven Point! (LOL)

Well it looks like the storms are going around Lebanon and the Bennett area (no rain yet today), but we will just have to see how much rainfall drops in the uphill areas. Keep your eyes out here, I will do what I can to report back to you with some pictures or something... Just depends on if my wednesday trip to Alton falls through..

Well he was quick to spread his head and scare the crap right outta me, but he doesn't match the pictures from the MDC website of a hog-nosed snake.. He was exceptionally dark.. But I have been wrong before. the name Adder came to mind when I was handling him, but Chad seemed convinced that Adders were poisonous snakes. I didn't mess with him too much, but he didn't really stink like the description of the Green Water Snake. Dunno, but I thought it was interesting... Pretty good pictures for a phone, eh?

Had to go to the Airport to drop off my sister, and decided to go to the A Busch area and see if I could catch a fish or two.. Just for fun. (PS Thanks Patfish for the phone call and for offering suggestions as to what to do to have a good time, the suggestions helped).... We fished lake 24. The fishing wasn't great, but I attribute that mainly to the wind (15-25 MPH gusts).. I hooked one little largemouth bass and only got one or two other hits. But I did jump up this snake, I looked it up and it looks like it's a Mississippi Green Water Snake. MDC says they are endangered here and are only found in south west missouri. I tell you one thing, when I was accidentally stepping over it, I was certain it was a CottonMouth! It bowed up at me and its head spread out to about three times it's normal size. My brother in law identified it as a "spreadhead". Can't find that as a technical name anywhere, but it looks similar to the above mentioned snake. I decided to catch it anyway. I did release it unharmed about 40 yards up into the woods. Is this a Miss. Green Water Snake, or was I handling a poisonous snake?

Chiropractor is the best suggestion. Next would be a product called Biofreeze (it's what my chiropractor rubs me down with before cracking my back), or a herbal remedy called Tiger Balm.. Good luck, I hate back pain..

Brian, I have been planning to come down and float from Greer to Turner Mill this week, will this (construction at turner mill) effect my take out? And will the river be floatable and fishable on wednesday, or have the recent (and expected) rains got it flooding yet?
-
The river was just starting to look good, it was down to about normal when I went out yesterday... But now we are looking at the possibility of several inches over the next few days (but you never know, it's missouri).. I will gladly keep my eye out for you. Report back here?

Welcome Dalton.. There are lots of smallies in the 11point, and past Greer Springs (where the river triples in size) they slow down for a couple miles and the trout turn on. There are lots of goggleyes and trout, and then down closer to riverton, like once you get past Turner Mill it kinda goes back into a smallie fiesta.. Just my experience.. I suggest floating from Turner Mill down to riverton and using a white and pink or black and white maribou jig.. White spinners worked well for me too.. I fish above and below the riffles in the deep spots, jig around the rocks, finesse fish. If the smallies are being stubborn a purple worm or other Carolina rig style lure sometimes works. Oh, and single hook plastic crawdads fished the same way as the jigs, in the deep holes.. If you look around there are fishing reports that can give you all sorts of info.. It does take a little research and reading. Good luck, I am headed down that direction on Tuesday, if the weather holds out.. If you need assistance (canoe, guide service, etc) get with Brian Sloss and www.11pointcanoe.com , they won't lead you astray..

Where To Catch Bluegills, Etc. In St. Louis Area?
FishinCricket replied to Chris Barclay's topic in Pan Fish
Hey, I am in St Louis Right now and have my fishing poles and tackle handy.. I am dropping my sister off at the airport. Where should I go to fish for a couple minutes? Where is Busch CA? What else is there? I will go grab some lunch and watch this thread for a few minutes.. It would be near if someone gave me a suggestion ad I was able to come back tonight and post a report.. (eyes peeled, wish me luck) -
Not exactly a fishing vessel, but my friend Mr. M, has a boat that he is hardly using anymore. It's pretty nice, it's been mainly used for cruising the lake of the ozarks, and the occasional towing of a skiier or tube. 1987 21 ft Bayliner Capri with a 1998 Trailer Everything about the body of the boat and the motor seems to be well intact The upholstery could use some work, but it's manageable This seems like good time to mention that Mr M is only asking $6,250 for this magnificent boat.. (Psst: Is this a good deal? I think it is, I just can't aford it... And I am sure if push came to shove Mr M would wiggle a little bit on the price) Look, it's Mr M showing you that the cabin sleeps three! Yay! Hope you enjoyed the slideshow, now anyone interested in buying this boat? Please either contact me by PM or at the phone number I have listed in my signature..

Here's a good sized goggleeye that I caught below Bennett Springs. They are very similar to crappie in how they forage and school, and they look like a cross from a perch and a Smallmouth. Readily identifiable by their red eyes, they are also referred to as "Rock Bass"...

Starting to think it was something I said after all..... Lil help please? -
You may hold off another day or two.. The spring is still running pretty high, but it is down to managable... By this weekend it should be golden down there.. It's a good thing the river is so close to work, or I'd never get any work done.. LOL

The river rose a foot while I was there this morning! I still managed to hook a few, but I had to work my tail off at it. My partner did much better using white powerbait, and I ended up hooking mine with a white maribou jig, but we only stuck around long enough to get soaked... Now the river is up and rising and muddy as all get out. I will be going down wednesday again, I will report back then..

Sorry I missed you question yesterday.. I have been intent on making a blog out of my fishing reports, but the system here won't allow me to make a blog.. Still working on it... Anyway, the fishing for the last couple days has been spotty. Last time I was out (I am headed out again this morning) was on Wednesday, and the river was up and muddy as all get out. I hooked one on a trout spoon (kastmaster) and one on a Jig, then nothing for a few hours. I switched to a marshmallow bait and a really long leader and hit four in a row. My guess is that the river is still a little muddy, but looking much better today. I will report back in a few hours from "Zone 4" and let you know how it went... PS, I have been restricting myself to the area just below the park, so I have been posting reports, just not in the Niangua side. The fishing on the niangua is drastically different from the fishing there in "Zone 4" so I tend to seperate em out that way, and I haven't floated the river down to barclay in about a month..
