  13. Thanks for the tip mike. Had a great time there last year. Looking forward to it. Did ya'll find the walleyes this year and did you play any hank or willie?
  14. I only keep largemouth bass that are 15" and over. The crappie we caught last week on the james below walnut springs were tubes with black with pink tail or black with chartreuse tails. Caught 20 CRAPPIE...16 were 9 1/2" and 4 were 15". Caught several black bass 10. 12. 13. ad 14" with same tube jigs. Did this while radaring for paddlefish. Did really well on the paddlefish. I posted pics and videos on my facebook page. check em out.My link
  15. Duckydoty...that had to have been probably your best fight on a fly rod ever. Speaking of Taylor Shoals. Don't be surprised. Probably see Phil Liley hookin in there.
  16. The only time I have returned one was because it was less than 34" from the eye to the fork in its tail. MDC Regulation...Paddle Fish must be 34" from the eye to the fork in its tail to be a legal fish to keep.
  17. Looking forward to it Don. We will be running radar Monday looking for them. Hopefully catch a mess of Crappie or White Bass on Monday. Make for a nice meal and some extra fun. Don't forget everyone...your Life Vest only works when you wear it. Dont leave them at home. Good Luck and SAFE FISHING.
  18. You are on the right path. I use rooster tails, swimming minnows, maribou jigs, little crank-baits...once they start moving up the river to spawn the get hungry and you will catch fish hard for about 3 weeks on all that you are already using. My favorite colors are white w/red...or just white. Purple swimming minnows work great..Maribou Jigs in white, grey, olive yellow. These white bass will hit them all. Good luck to you they will get real good here in a week or two.
  19. Wow...all different kinds of opinions. I can appreciate each and every one of them. My wife calls them Gentle Giants. And yes they look like dolphins racing next to your boat. She does not like the fact I have to Snag them either. I never have returned one injured, but how many bass are returned not so good. However...no matter how they are caught, no matter how fun it is or how much work it is. God did not put these fish here just to swim around and eat microscopic organisms. And the MDC did not start a season for them just for the heck of it. There is a purpose for everything and I feel blessed to be able to HARVEST such a beast. Whether it be a 100# Paddlefish, 10PT Buck or a 12lb Bass. They all Cook up just nice in my oven, grill or skillet. And I am just as proud to have the privilege to enjoy it all. Thanks to God and thanks to MDC.
  20. Two year old pic Seth from the Honey Hole. That one was 96er. Last year my son lost one at Walnut Springs while I was videoing him. That fish was well over 100lbs. When I went to gaff him the rubber nipple was still on the end of the gaff. She got too close to the motor and cut the line. I would post the video...HOWEVER, I cant figure out how to edit the curse words he let out....my fault. His biggest last year was 85lbs and Robert and I had some 75lbrs.
  21. Hopefully you can still get to the boat ramp from the east...like from Aldrich town
  22. Next week kicks off Snagging Season. Hope everyone is ready for more serious action. I couldn't help but post one of mic pics tonight. I am all fired up and ready to hit it. HAS any one seen any up the Upper James lately? We'll be running from Walnut Springs to Cape Fair and back. FISH ON
  23. I hear ya Seth, What's up. Haven't talk to you and a while. We will be on the Upper James by Walnut Springs. I know you remember. I just hope they are up there. If not we will probably make a run down just before capefair. Cant wait.
  24. Thanks for the info guys.
  25. I use my 14' flat bottom with a 15hp. I fish it everywhere except on TBR MAIN LAKE and I will not go on LOZ.....As long as you don't weigh it down to much, you should have no problem. Make sure you have a bilge pump in the rear of the boat. Believe me...it will come be handy. My boat usually packs two people-200lbs each, 15 hp envinrude, 6gal gas tank, two batteries, 54 lb thrust trolling motor, big ice chest with 2 frozen gallon jugs, two power aid frozen water bottles, several bottles of water, a little ice, couple of power-aide drinks, few sandwiches, big full tackle box loaded, paddle, fire extinguisher, flare gun, first aid kit and two wheel rotors to anchor both ends of the boat, cast net, fish finder and 6 rod and reels. Boat also has 1/2" particle board flooring with astro turf. Hope this helps.
