  1. i use it, mainly because i can tie the thing in my sleep...
  2. i would think that all ramps are public due to the fact the corps owns up to a certain elevation and the ramp would be on public property. Parking however would be another issue that would get you into trouble.

  4. check your guides and see if they arent damaged, this may cause nicks in your line.
  5. sportsmans was nice, but Academy Sports is a great store. Im glad we've had one in joplin for a few years now.... they have great prices.
  6. sad thing is we need those fools to pay those prices to keep the used boat market filled with boats in 10 yrs. Nothing depreciates faster than a boat....
  7. go here to the props or setups forum they will hook you up with what you need. lots of helpful peeps and the moderators are prop and setup experts http://bbcboards.zeroforum.com/
  8. coyotes, no. youd probably see a difference when shooting at prairie dogs and other small critters though. you can however handload the 223 to be very accurate.
  9. Brandon's Gun Shop up in Joplin usually has lots of .22s Tim (417) 623-8787 Brandon's is a nice honest shop and guy.
  10. i havent seen troutbum keep a fish outside roaring river ever.... and ive fished with him for close to 20 yrs
  11. im always paranoid that would happen to me. Accidents happen, and since i drive a std tranny im always paranoid. Even if you cock the wheels the right way bad luck can happen. Im glad the chap got out, this time of year can be dangerous.
  12. i guess i cant go dig out a pond, fill it and stock it with bass to fall under some special pretentious club of catching wild native fish.... puh-leaze....
  13. that section of taneycomo is a lake, and 0 generation wont benefit the bridge building. youre more likely see more erosion and muddy waters then 0 generation. Bridges have been built w/o draining lakes rivers and oceans for a long time.
  14. waterproof fingerless gloves (such as glacier gloves) Good sock liners and wool socks. (the liners wick moisture away from your foot too keep em dry.) good insulated hat. waterproof bag with emergency change of clothes. I fail to see how whiskey or wine can be a life saver. Alcohol may give you the idea that your warm but its the opposite. It can actually speed up hypothermia. Alcohol and the cold dont mix if youre trying to stay warm.
  15. Lee Wulff was talking/promoting C&R long before Ray Scott thought about C&R. Ray Scott is far from a "father" of C&R. But his former BASS is a good promoter of C&R. Bow vs rifle is an interesting angle... Both groups have different governing bodies of record books. Pope and Young for bow and Boone and Crockett for rifle. each have different criteria for animal judging. Debates will long fill the hunting lodge as to which is a better method. All records are scrutinized, going so far as having a DNA check to make sure its not a frankendeer or some pen raised genetic mutation that has been exploited. Hunters have raised does and injected them with hormones to produce antlers. Pen raised deer raised for the racks hunted in a pens no bigger than an acre with open gates guarded by the farmers to prevent escape to qualify for a fair-chase rule.... Trust me the hunting world is full of scrutiny if you look beyond the Primos, Mossy Oak and Realtree smoke and mirrors.
  16. powersite was first. then bull shoals then table rock.
  17. Habitat improvement for cold water fisheries in MO are much easier to perform because in those rivers the land the water is owned by the state. (taney is actually owned by Empire District Electric, up to a certain elevation im guessing) The state or Feds dont have to ask permission to enter land privately owned to alter the habitat. Lakes too are easy to spend money on habitat, as most lakes are publicly owned entities. Its the rivers that are owned by private people that make for the challenge of spending money to improve habitat. Using public money to fund private land improvement is a problem. It would be hard to sell to john q public to take streams owned by some dude and improve his land by reducing erosion, adding boulders, creating log jams and brush piles. At the end of the day private citizen has a wonderful scenic river, spent little or nothing himself to improve the land and he/she still controls the land and doesnt allow tresspassers. John Q Public generally hates this type of spending.... Private groups and foundations can go into private land easier then the govt. Ducks Unlimited is a prime example of private groups going into private land and improving habitat. Spending money on trout in missouri is easy to do. easier with private money.... There are people in missouri who want to buy tags and go to taney just as there are people who buy tags to go fish LoZ, Truman, Pomme de Terre, Bull SHoals and table rock. Like it or not Taney exists, and with that comes opportunity to appease citizens. Personally i see no reason not to spend money where people fish, so what if the fish arent native or the pompous self righteous fisherman thinks its wrong to give welfare to certain fish, people buy tags because they want to fish. Some people like walleye, others like bass, and some like trout. Boohoohoo if you are mad because money is going to fish A over your fish B just because you think its wrong. At the end of the day people are fishing and they are spending money in pursuit of that goal. Not only is Pittman-Robertson taxes and MDC sales tax going back to fish-n-game but local economies are helped in pursuits of fishing. If you want monies to go to your fish then push for crappie stamps, bass stamps, walleye stamps and maybe a musky stamp. People are fishing, and personally i see nothing wrong with that.... I dont fish for walleye, but im not going to throw a fit if others do or some money is going to fund added opportunity for more walleyes in the lakes.
  18. ive got a kubota rtv900(diesel). They are workhorses, and are very tough. The big thing about kubota is the hydraulic drivetrain is different then most utvs. Let off the throttle and their is a built in braking system w/in the hydraulics that takes getting used too. Kubotas have a huge bed
  19. coe is about flood control and hydro power, not fish.
  20. i fish my bass boat on taney. I prefer lake level at 706 and higher but will do 705 above fall creek if the lake isnt dropping. since your new id make sure lake is 706 or higher if you want to go above fall creek. Get a map of the channel and youll be fine at 706 lake level. if your running at 706 call up to the dam and make sure the lake isnt dropping. if they are constant 706 you shouldnt have problems if youre on plane.
  21. tough to actually name one.... Frying Pan in CO NorthPlatte WY Madison MT Depuys MT SouthPlatte (below Spiney Res) CO are probably my favorite.
