  1. You started a thread where you are convinced your selection suits you. You are already aware of some of the main points of discussion (arguments) as to why some use fluorocarbon as a leader. You're asking for someone to change your mind towards a different point of view. This is asking for a collection of opinions, various experiences, and specific examples may be provided. At the end of the day, it boils down to how open minded are you to using fluorocarbon as a leader and are you willing to try it and come to your own conclusion based on your experience with it? Totally not trying to be an a$$ here. Just looking at this from the root of the reason of the thread. You're wanting someone to enlighten you right? You can read lots of articles, lots of people's experience and recommendations but you still have to try it for yourself to see if you like it or not. Then, you will no for sure if you hate it or love it. I personally use straight fluoro on spinning rods and baitcasters most of the time. The only rods that have mono are specific to topwater. I used to use copoly years ago and the lines I used (Yo-Zuri) was not abrasion resistant and snapped easily (at least it did for me......just my experience with it). I know use PLine CXX and I've been wanting try try Maxima line. I also use Inviz-x for my fluoro of choice. I sometimes tie leaders but, I don't enjoy leader knots. So I just spool the entire thing with fluoro and move on. Yes, heat can occur when tying a knot but wetting the line and being careful often solves this issue. So at the end of the day, you have to give it a try. Take one or two rods out rigged based on the experiences and suggestions here and then take those two rods only on a trip. See how you liked it. See if you didn't like it. ANd be sure to use them in the right application. Dragging football jigs through rocks with a leader is not a good application in my mind and begging for lost baits. Some can do it well, most struggle. Hope this helps. Just trying to say, you need an open mind from the start. THen you can arrive to a conclusive point of contention based on your own experience. I think that is much more valuable to you as the user.
  2. Geez....... I can see this thread is going to be like "Ranger Alum. vs. Tracker" on the BBC boards. I'm out.....
  3. Less Stroud (Survivorman) had a rant about the movie and said Jerimiah Johnson was superior. He felt this was too "Hollywood". I have not seen it. Plan to. Not trying to rain on a parade or dampen anyone's enjoyment of a movie. Just agreeing with your friends recommendation to watch Jerimiah Johnson. It is a good movie. That being said, glad Mark enjoyed it. I've also heard people say it was good. No matter what Less says. Lol !
  4. 47-48 at Rocky Branch marina. Warmed up to 48 with sun, should drop back down to 46 overnight.
  5. Definitely not disrespectful intent by me. Simple question, how often is it updated. I thought it was live already or near about. I will most definitely help him by giving water temp info. Had I known he was doing it all by himself, I would have already volunteered to help. I missed that previously or just forgot about it. As stated earlier, I very much appreciate his efforts and support it. So....I will definitely give him info. I thought someone was making a joke by asking someone to drive around the lake and "let everyone know". Apologies.
  6. Yeah wouldn't that be nice?
  7. Change for a slurpee?? Lmbo!!!!!!!!!! That was spot on!
  8. I'm spoiled. I need live data!!!! Lol
  9. Have yall not see A-Mart or Erhler stomp the other guys with a dropshot on MLF? Evendors Hackney throws a finesse presentation. I've seen several using finesse but never what we think of as "Midwest Finesse" or really small baits. Watching A-Mart is like watching an insane homeless guy. Mumbling and talking to himself. Lol!!

    Had to share

https://m.facebook.com/story.php?story_fbid=10153370790908686&id=100643348685 Now before some of you grab pitchforks and torches..... It was just a joke. Years ago, I tried eating a bass. Ick! Not for me. So ole Mr Greenjeans is quite safe from me. And about 94% of all NW AR.
  11. Nope. He didn't have it.
  12. So how often does it help app update? Beaver has not been updated since Jan 02.
  13. Jolicious knows him a little I believe. I'll text him.
  14. I don't know of a bass guide but there are some. That's why I like striper fishing. Half of a tarpon fight and available on my home lake. Won't wear me out like a tarpon but a heck of a fight! ;-) Tackle two tarpon in a day and your done. Lol! Its an amazing feeling in your hands to have 80-100lb braid ripping out like you just set the hook on a garbage truck. ;-)
  15. Hmmm... No clue. Must be about getting the right mix between dynamite length and fuse length. "Fine tuning"....
  16. That's odd behavior. Guess it has to correlate with the spawn? Dang........and I just cleaned up the boat. Now yall have me wanting to get up river.
  17. Winter is the time I typically focus on catching stripers. I had a personal goal of catching one of those big 40 pound plus big girls this year and the weather just has not allowed it. It's much harder to catch stripers and muddy water and they will probably run back towards the dam in dispersed groups. I can bass fish in muddy water easily but stripers makes it tougher. Guess I'm back to bass and crappie now.
  18. If those pesky bass would stop farting..... It would stay clearer longer.
  19. That Will Suck.

    Muddy,Muddy

    Lmao!!!!!!!!!!!
  21. At 4:52, you will see the 80lb class tarpon jump. AND this is a small one. And yes, my lower back was burning really good. They now make a soft cushion that you add on the end of the rod that allows you more comfort as you fight the fish.
  22. I will warn you...... Ozzie Lessenger is NOT a morning person. LOL!! So don't plan on making jokes having much small talk. You get in the boat, sit down, and he will take you to the tarpon on a nice little slow ride. He handles his craft very safely and it rides across any surf waves very smoothly and dry. No "bass boat type" hauling but and white knuckle rides. Just barely on plane and cruising. He takes his job very seriously and he gets really frustrated when he cannot find feeding tarpon or if another guide anchors on top of him. Pressures of being a guide. He typically will cast the crab out for you and then hand you the rod. Why? Because he can flat fling that thing out there and he's trying to put it right on the path of a cruising tarpon. And he can spot those things 150-200yrds out easy. Eyes like a hawk! He's "that man" when it comes to Tarpon. He launches out of McCarthy's Marina on Captiva Island. Opposite side of the island from the Mucky Duck. So you have several choice for lunch when you're done. Chee-burger Chee-burger is also a great choice! Here is a video of my first tarpon from 2yrs ago. I wasn't used to the spinning reel handle on the left side (I am now since this video....it taught me a lesson) and I simply did not realize how hard these fish fight! So I look like a goober and have never fished before. What is true is......I had never fished for anything remotely close to this large or this powerful so in a sense........it was my first time! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hCxPL-CEycQ

    Muddy,Muddy

Water is not nearly cold enough for that. Even if it did, it would not be very thick. Water is still in the 40's for the most part.
  24. I know this, standing on the dock for 5-7 mins was enough to confirm how glad I was I didn't take the boat out!! Lol!!
  25. It's still much dirtier than expected. I haven't checked the generation lately though so that could be it. That and more run offor but nothing like it was.
