    Boat Advice

That rig will make someone very happy. But man......you did upgrade. :-)
  2. Like you need another rod kjackson. You're as rod poor as Cabelas itself. Speaking of poor. We need to make a trip soon.
  3. Usually structure scan goes all white when the chartreuse bait goes off. Probably the shock wave. You know I'm only joking right? ;-)
  4. I pour my own molds.
  5. I myself like to go for broke and use heavy tackle. I use an 8oz trot-line lead weight molded onto to a 3/8” x 2ft long rebar on saltwater style 100lb test. I also paint the rebar and lead weight red because red is ALWAYS a good color down to 30ft! Then I use a 50lb Suffix braid leader about 6ft long with a chartreuse painted stick of dynamite with a trolling motor prop rigged in front of the dynamite as a spinner. The walleye are very attracted to the vibration of this setup. I then use an 8ft waterproof fuse to allow the setup to get into place before the fun starts. Once the rig has activated correctly, it makes my HDS unit obsolete because the entire sea floor surfaces to the top. Talk about hi-definition!
  6. Need to do this again. I hope to make the next one. Really hate I missed this one.
  7. Anyone going to post photos and results?
  8. Man I hate I'm missing this. Rps cooking wings. That's not something to miss.
  9. Dave sent me some samplers and I simply have not had a chance to use them yet but they are without a doubt, hi quality.
  10. Okay to clear up the dirty minds here...... You were hot and over dressed for the Polar Bear tournament and had to lose some layers. And I watched the trolling motor and fished while you went all "Its Me Again Margaret" changing clothes. Lol!!
  11. Like this.........but with gills. LOL!
  12. Interesting theory and while I would agree initially, it makes me ponder the possibilities as well as the complexity of how or if that would work as you stated. Other than the fact you wouldn't have to troll as deep due to light penetration and water clarity, one would initially think it would be easier however, boat traffic can be worse due to location (being closer to Rogers/Springdale/etc), water run off from the two rivers impacting fish behavior, and overall forage makes me wonder if it's just as difficult at times only in different ways. One thing is for sure, if you figure them out on the upper end, should be easier to replicate with variations on the lower end. I would think....? I know for a fact yesterday I trolled through some good mixes of fish and one school of roaming whites without a single bite. As npierceuark stated above (and cleverly I might add), the whites get on a movement pattern and can be turned off for weeks and won't hit a spoon or trolled bait. They're on the move and that's all they are focused on? Could be correct and sounds plausible to me. I just know I zeroed yesterday after giving it a good effort. The plan was to go for stripers but that didn't pan out. The fish disappeared as soon as the traffic started churning the waters. Easily 200+ boats on a mid-week day. Everyone has serious cabin fever that will last for the rest of the month and into early April.
  13. YES I......er I mean "he" DID! I do recall letting someone run the trolling motor for a while. To see how they liked the setup. Must not have been very exciting or memorable. As for the trained pets (white bass), I can't help that. I was trained by F&F where they only bite on one side of the boat.
  14. You just need to find the right guide.........
  15. Just don't do it in your birthday suit. Lol!
  16. Well that's hardly worth all the fuss and hoopla over getting the word out.
  17. Well he will now....
  18. Joe. You sir are a nut!!! Lol!!! Funniest thing I've seen all day. :-)
  19. I missed the meeting. Can anyone describe what happened and what their plan is? I saw the interactive map and it appears they want to transform several areas Ingo parks including Bear Island and Monte Ne development?
  20. Hickory has a mudline just below it now. And it's very shallow at the Corp ramp. Not good for glass boats. Monte Ne is where I'll launch in the AM. Taking the day off to enjoy the weather. :-) As for which is better? No clue really. I'll wing it all day.
  21. I've used some super cheap ones on my spider rig rods and hooked more stumps than I care to remember. The drag was put to the test several times. And my others don't engage drag very often for bass and such. When they do, it's a little slip here and there, no drag scorchers so far. Other than stumps. I hear ya on durability. So far, I've been pretty happy with my cheaper ones. Maintenance is equally important as you know. Until one fails, I'm happy.
  22. I have found that using cheaper reels in the Shimano line work just as well as the more expensive ones. For that matter, I'm quite content with much lesser expensive gear these days. Rods and reels. I've got expensive rods and reels and for the money, they don't offer a significant advantage. I bought a $30 Diawa graphite rod and a $20 Quantum reel for spoons and I'll be darn if it's not perfect for it. Sensitive and strong backbone. Using the right line helps too. Just my 2 cents. When you're wife is super budget conscious it's hard to buy hi quality because the tongue lashing isn't worth it. So I get by just fine. :-)
  23. No I wasn't running. He almost ran into me. HE was trying to get back to his booth. I almost wanted Lysol to decontaminate myself. Lol
  24. Welcome to Beaver. On fire one day.... Iceberg the next. Challenge Capitol of the World. Lol! But the more you fish it, the more you learn it, the better your luck. But it's a very slow climb. Ask any pro who comes here.
  25. I agree. Need some help, let me know. :-)
