  1. Very true. Lots of good folks here and very little spammers.
  2. Yeah and now it's 30-40% chance of thunderstorms. Your luck is spreading. :-p
  3. Hate you didn't get into a good mess of fish at this location. Right now, a bite can be difficult and if you're in an active area and catching fish, you've hit the jackpot. It's been tough all over the lake. The patterns change on the hour and it can be tough.
  4. Dude that is terrible........ I'll take a flat tire over a wrecked boat any day though. Maybe it was for your benefit in the long term.
  5. Funny.....I can't seem to be able to still. I need on the water practice I guess.
  6. Check your boat for a bananna. I think there is a 6'-2" banana fairy going around placing "good luck" devices so he....I mean she can post fishing reports.
  7. Did you really? You know I'm going to tear the boat apart looking for one now. Jerk.
  8. After having some very hi-stress situations and lots of frustration and anxiety, I had to get out to the lake. As the prison Warden on “Cool Hand Luke” said….”boy, you got to get your mind right!” And boy did I! It’s amazing what a little hydro-therapy can do. Especially from a brand new boat. J The new hasn’t worn off yet and I’m getting completely spoiled. Having a large fishing deck, monster trolling motor, an outboard that seems to sip a few ounces of gas and starts so easily when you turn the key…..well it’s just a very welcome adjustment. So I’m stressed and need a break right? Well, I got one. First cast of the day, my H20 rod snaps! Good thing I keep receipts. Hoping to use Academy’s “exchange” program today. If not, it’s not a tremendous loss. Their Ethos rods are really affordable. This is the first one that has broken on a cast or hookset (this one on a cast with a Carolina rig). I didn’t let this bad omen get to me. Put that rod up and picked up the drop shot to play with “Mr. Greenjeans” and I love to fish a dropshot. Within minutes I had a couple of small Kentucky bass. So small, I didn’t even keep them (which is a surprise because I want to thin out the population). That got boring quick so I decided to troll the area I had stumbled upon (I’ve never fished this spot before). With these new Lowrance graphs, I feel like I’m seeing the lake for the first time. It’s amazing how many fish are in this lake. My graph is lighting up like an old phone switchboard at a Jerry Lewis telethon and I’m getting excited. Problem is, all the fish are between 20-25ft and my baits would only reach 17ft and the other bait will reach 20-21ft. Ironically, the little #7 Flicker struck first and a NICE crappie was a surprise. I swapped out the deep diver for another #7 and reset lines. Caught a nice largemouth. I made a 325yr troll and saw fish the entire time. I got excited then. Turned around and made another pass. No mas’. Turned, and made another half-pass and stopped just short of a waypoint I made. Broke out the Shinnee Hinnee jig and spoon and setup camp. No bites. Amazing. Fish all around, fish about 20ft down and some coming up to 7-10ft and dropping back down. Couldn’t get a bite on the spoon either and it’s usually very deadly. The entire time I’m sitting in this area, there was only one topwater bite. It amazed me. Glass pond, quiet, fish on the graph and very little activity. Now I have to go find that banana that Feathers&Fins put in my boat…………. Here are a few photos I snapped from the phone. Such great scenery. I could have stayed there all night.
  9. Its a good thing Beaver doesn't have sharks. Scott would use you two guys as shark bait so he could get some good underwater photos. lol
  10. Gotta agree with these comments. Lol Lightening is no joke. I saw where a father and son was struck by lightening in an alum. boat. The rod looked freaky. Be careful in unsafe weather. Nice mess! I found a ton of fish late this afternoon but the bit shut down around 8:00 for some reason. Did manage to get a 15" crappie. He was a surprise! I know I'll be going back there soon.
  11. I got some spotted fillets last week. Looked like crappie fillets. If you trim off the orage fat, looks just like crappie.
  12. Lol! Please thin them out. Its needed.
  13. Well throw one out about 140ft on 10lb line and let us all know if it's the greatest thing since sliced bread. :-)
  14. That's a great fishing report this time of year. You have done extremely well!
  15. I was just going to say what F&F said (minus the trout). For numbers, use live bait (brooders and crappie minnows) on light line and drift fish. Similar to crawler harness but free swimming bait with a weight about 4-6ft up from the hook.
  16. Lol!!! And bring extra marker buoys! ;-)
  17. I keep my locker closed and locked and I don't let nobody put their hands in my locker. Except for my wife. LOL
  18. And good for you for posting too. Thanks for your posts and I am glad there are others who enjoy catching stripers. I too was once an old grumpy fart who blamed the stripers for the lack of bass population but after reading many articles and research and now just basic knowledge of stripers, I can safely say.......they are not the reason there are lots of small bass in Beaver. For that matter, if they ate nothing but large bass.......how would they? Their mouths are not big enough to eat anything over 4-5lbs unless there were tons of 40-50lb class stripers in the lake. If that's the case, there would be very little bass and a lot of stripers. And as for stripers eating all of the forage, well that's not the case either. They prefer gizzards (I've see the remains myself in several stomachs) and they enjoy perch too much to mess with bass. I would like to see them clean out the abundant population of small spotted bass. OK, off topic...... Thanks for your post and good luck with the crappie! Post some pics! :-)
  19. For the record..... You never had your hands anywhere near my gas tank or my batteries. Just want to clear that air right here and public.!!!!
  20. A) You had a lucky day the first time I brought the fish counter. I only brought it because I couldn't keep up with how many fish was actually caught. I wasn't really keeping count but decided......."Hey this could be a handy tool". In reality, the "tool" was having too much fun saying the word "CL-IIIIIII-CK" when he pushed the button. You troll with your line on the target and mine is off target - therefor you typically catch more fish. :-) I've noticed this occurrence a few times C) I know my new boat like the back of my hand already. There is NO banana on my vessel. The ice chest...........man that one is a puzzler to me. When I take it in prep for expecting fish, I get little to nothing. When I leave it at home, I catch fish. Therefor, it stays at home. The new boat has it's own ice chest and it keeps my beverages ice cold for 3-4 days and it's just a cheap Igloo lunch cooler.........not an overpriced Yeti. So it will stay in the boat and I'll keep catching fish. I have not zeroed yet on the new boat.
  21. Yep.........there are a lot of happy perch and gizzard shad in the lake now. OH! And a TON of happy 10-12" spotted bass. More food for them as well since they like to hang out on and near the shoreline and eat everything in site. Chris is a good dude. He found me at the ramp and asked how I was treated with my new rig. He wanted to make sure I had been taken care of. I appreciated that. And I appreciate anyone from Cabelas posting pictures of fish or any other contributions here. To the original poster, forgive our objective & "grumpy" nature. We are all just jealous we do not have one of these in our fish pictures from fishing (not spear hunting). Well..........at least almost every one.
  22. Very good idea!!
  23. Does Cabelas offer certified scale weights? Just curious in case I ever get something big enough to need a certified scale! Lol
  24. Did you see it weighed at 54lbs? Looks a whole lot smaller than 54.
  25. I'd love to see these caught on a hook. Because I'm an angler and not a diver. Where was this at, Cabelas?
