  1. I saw a Hank Parker tv show where he was catching barramundi from a pond in Australia. Looked awefully fun. I started to say snook but those suckers are super smart. And when I thought about tarpon, snook seemed pointless. Lol
  2. Um........... NO!
  3. Not concerned about pain. Concerned about the impact to the fishery overall.
  4. I am. But going every Saturday would be even better. :-)
  5. No, 20" to keep and up to 3 per day http://www.agfc.com/fishing/Pages/fishingLakesDetail.aspx?show=Beaver
  6. Tarpon. :-)
  7. Shouldn't be anything they are not used to by now over the last 5 months. :-)
  8. Poor guy. Trying to digest that and then pass it? Ouch.
  9. Google Rocky Branch Marina Rogers AR http://goo.gl/maps/UdgJh
  10. *** PLEASE DO NOT THROW USED PLASTICS IN THE LAKE!! *** http://www.bassresource.com/fish_biology/skinny-fish.html I am posting this for AWARNESS, not to start a mile long thread of rants or arguments about fishery management, etc. I’m also not going to point any fingers because I’m just guilty of this as much as the next guy. I’ve done it several times over the years. NOW I know better. If you do fish tournaments often, dude……….keep your baits in your boat. Don’t throw them in the lake! You’re only hurting yourself in the future. While I have not caught a lot of fish on Beaver that suffer from plastics in the digestive system, my personal best on Beaver was caught around July 4th night fishing. The fish went over 6lbs and was a massive bass for this lake. Problem was it was only 6lbs and could have gone 8lbs with a very healthy diet. So if you see a skinny fish (I mean starved skinny), chances are it has plastics in it’s digestive system. You can’t “fix” the fish either. You can’t help the fish. All you can do is put the poor thing out of its misery in a hot oil bath. It’s not going to grow if it cannot process food like it should so it’s not going to get any bigger and will probably starve to death anyway. Here is the victim of plastics in his gut (the FISH.........not me. I don't eat plastic but my gut says otherwise) :-)
  11. NO 2PM TRAFFIC???? = I may have to move. Lol!!
  12. Good size? What's the best time of year? I would love to venture that way for a camping trip or a weekend getaway with the family.
  13. Way up Cliffty. Typically a goiod area.
  14. For me at least, panfish is tough on this lake because anything you catch is so small it's not worth keeping. Small sunfish about 6-8" long are the usually cricket and worm grabber. You also have to get the bait up close and personal with any cover. They won't venture out away from safety to take a bite. You have to make accurate casts to cover (within a few feet) and as soon as the bobber hits the water its a matter of seconds before you need to get them away from cover to prevent them from hanging your hook in the cover. It's for an experienced angler, not for kids. For crappie, they typically roam around and suspend on flats. Trolling works best unless you venture past the Hwy 12 bridge and go way up river. Since you're on the opposite end of the lake, that's not really an option. For whites, look for them on main lake points near the Rocky Branch area as stated above. A white or silver Rooster Tail works great when they are schooling and it's a "do nothing" type bait. Cast as far as you can, steady retrieve. It helps if you twitch it a bit every few turns of the handle. Good luck and enjoy your visit to Beaver!
  15. It was about this time of year a few years back and I had a toad on a jig fishing giant boulders near the Rocky Branch ramp near the campgrounds (main lake ramp). I felt like there should be fish on those boulders and as stated above, the fish were in between hiding for ambushing prey. Sadly..........I lost that one at the boat. I got so excited I tried to hoist it in thinking it was hooked good but she shook her head and told me "nay nay!!" and she was gone. Mouth was as big as a quart of paint! So, I could see this pattern working well for a while. Probably a couple of weeks or better.
  16. In my mind, that's what this forum is about. Helping others.
  17. Here is an extremely helpful article explaining critical sonar concepts. You can skim over it or read all of it. You will learn something either way. http://doctorsonar.com/blogs/educational-articles/12380345-lowrance-pros-corner-by-luke-morris
  18. Don't get me wrong, I like KVD. I just hope it's not over priced due to endorsement by anyone. Yes......I know KVD is a bass angler and not a walleye chaser.
  19. As long as KVD is not endorsing them, they should be more affordable. :-) I'd like to see a bait that is as effective as the Flicker but for $3 a bait. (Wishfull thinking I know)
  20. Oops. I admit I speed read that. :-). My bad.
  21. I don't know the answer for sure but my gut says "yes". My experience also tells me the bigger whites and hybrids hang out with fish their own size. You see consistent catches when they are schooling. They also like to hang out around main lake and secondary points. Once you find them, hang around for a while and eventually the water will boil like phiranna attacking fresh meat! As for stripers, I think you're right. Bigger hang out like bulls below the smaller ones above. Largemiuth do that I'm told.
  22. Tha is for the report Champ. Glad to see the fish are finally turning on. I fished Lake of the Ozarks for a brief time Saturday and water temp was 74 there but we are still in the 60's here I believe. Unless it's changed from last weekend. As for the War Eagle spinnerbait. You're dead on. I swear either War Eagle has a kickback program with the fish or the Beaver Lake fish only want to support local businesses because that's the only soinnerbait I have consistent luck with. :-) "Mouse" is the color and Kalins smoke hologram is the ticket. Clear or stained. Cole Slaw for muddy water.
  23. Welcome to the forum!! :-) If you're launching from the bridge, there are lots of spots to check in that general area. As npierceuark stated above, it changes from day to day. Hiring a guide is an awesome opportunity and I know JTCrappie has literally hundreds of brush piles on this lake. He doesn't care if you fish them or not. They will load up the next day if they are producing. I would look for fish around the islands by the 12 bridge. Lots of places to look there.
  24. Awesome! That's a nice view right there. I knew the old "crappie whisperer" could fill a limit! Glad to see you're getting out on the water in the duck boat. Sounds like you got a graph on it too. Good deal!
