  1. Algae bloom???? Ah crap....... Better make that some big sticks of dynamite then.
  2. I've been twice in the last month. I actually zeroed on one trip. First time in a long time. Get bites on dropshot but nothing will take the whole worm. Even shortened the worm and still miss the hookset. I hear topwater in early morning is decent over deep water suspended bass.
  3. Yep.... Dynamite in about 25ft. Find a school of fish on a flat near deep water and bombs away. Lol!
  4. <<DISCLAIMER>> Said report above I provided comes from an *unnamed* forum member who has the fortunate luck to get topwater bites just about anytime of year and somehow always manages to scrounge and find some fish on a buzzbait whether or not the conditions called for it or made it the prime bait. In other words.... He slings it and gets lucky. Every dog will find a bone every once in a while. LOL!
  5. No, early morning as mentioned above by others. They were on an early bite I believe.
  6. Without giving away my buds info.........he and his co-angler boated about 15 on a buzzbait "somewhere around" the Rocky B area or adjacent areas. :-) Key thing was they were deep and not shallow. Buzzbaits in 60ft of water. LOL! Find the fish on sonar..........come back quietly and attack! A volley of buzzbaits and zara spooks flying like fireflies in the dark.
  7. I hear its a strong topwater bite in the morning.
  8. Nick I was wondering if you were still around. F&F has herded all the big crappie into a big pile somewhere in the lake and won't share. Lol
  9. I have a trumpet horn from a Freightliner. About 24" long. I keep saying I'm going to mount it on the Cutter so I can get the wakers attention before giving them the universal approval symbolagle. Lol! I'd need a serious air compressor motor and storage tank that would hold 150psi to blast it like a big rig. (Insert evil grin here)
  10. Well, it has a flat bottom and the motor is a bit small for a skier. Hey.......she looks good though!! One would have to fly an American flag on it, where a Captains Hat with an ascot and talk like Thurston Howell III from Gilligan's island!! "Oh Lovey! Let's DO take a ride on the boat SHALL we?" LMAO!!
  11. Lol!!! So I think its safe to say we all want more picks of your project boat. Or at least a video of the test run on the water. :-)
  12. Umm.......... You didn't specify how or any specifics/limitations to being on the water or driving it and popping it naturally. You said if I could pop it.....you would eat it. :-) Someone pass the salt shaker please. Lol!!
  13. One word........ Icepick! Start eating. LOL! (ok it's a compound word but it's still 1 word)
  14. Thanks for sharing. That was a good video. I like how humbling they are after fishing my home lake. Lol! I do grow tired of how they say "Beaver is not know for a big fish bite". I don't think they are implying there are no big fish rather than saying they are hard to catch. That's true but not impossible. It really does take something g special mixed in with luck to catch the bigger ones due to us local anglers pressuring the mess out of this lake with weekly tournaments. I need to watch more of these. Makes me feel better as a Beaver angler! Lol!
  15. You know that sound a balloon makes when you squeeze it when air escapes......that's funny. Lol! I could hear that happening. Foam is extra insurance. Its idiot proof when it comes to saving lives. A bladder would deflate and owner wouldn't care.
  16. Hope you have a drain tube or some way to let the water out. The new one I looked at was solid foam cut to fit the tray. Pull the tray, nothing but foam from deck to hull.
  17. Not that I know of. Keep it out of the sun. That's the best thing. And get some screws and secure those removable plastic storage trays and silicone them watertight. There is no lip to keep water out and if a lot of water gets beneath those plastic bins, the water is going to soak into the Styrofoam. That's dead weight, deteriorates the stryro and its adhesive properties. Waterlogged foam is never something anyone wants. Some know shy Tracker thinks that's acceptable. I saw a Lowe alum boat at Cabelas and their fix was stainless screws into the bin lip and I assumed sealed it off beneath. I'd seal it outside as well. Don't get me wrong, I like Tracker. I want the Pro 190 with the 115 ProXS. :-) I like that blue color better. Best looking Trackers I think.
  18. I'm going to try and post this from my phone. Without it crashing or locking up.... For those of us that venture to other lakes besife s Beaver and live locally, this is for you if you're interested. Lake Ft Smith Water temp: 83-85 as sun rises during day Water clarity: 2-3ft max. I've never fished this lake before. Found that it was better to fish old Shepard of the Hills side of the lake rather than south portion (before the two lakes merged). I spent a few hours in the south side with no bites and graphed very few fish. The north side however is full of fish. Can't explain why. Shallower and must be where the food source is. I saw small bait balls bit nothing like Beaver Lake. Found the depth and side of the lake where the fish were at. I trolled about 6-8 passes on a "heavily marked" waypoint path and only got one crappie on a no. 7 Flicker Shad. Fish were between 15-23ft. I had planned on fishing other waters so I headed back north. Burned a lot of gas on I540! Lol Lake Fayetteville Water temp: 85-86 Visibility: good luck.......greener than a Leprechaun's pair of ........toes ;-p This lake is in terrible shape. I think its been fished out compared to years before. Lady at bait shop said its been fished heavy by "locals" who keep more than allowed and probably anything they catch. She said last spring about 3 "locals" loaded down 3 boats with over 130-150 whites. I looked all over the place on the graph and I maybe graphed 30-40 fish in the entire lake?? I went to usual spots that hold fish too. Checked deep, mid lake, shallow, coves, holes, etc. Very little activity. I even trolled the entire south shore line in varying depths. Very few fish on graph. A lot different than a few years ago when I used to fish it .orr frequently. Here are a couple of photos. This is Lake Ft Smith on the south lake looking north. Great scenery! Beautiful lake!! This is Lake Fayetteville (green as St Patty's Day)
  19. I agree. I even considered building a small flipping deck to put on top of the front deck so I could be up higher. I rarely fish shallow in less than 5-6ft of water (boat depth, not bait depth) so I would not worry about the boats depth in water too much. If the wife is out of this "family boat" business by the time I can buy one, I'll be getting a bass boat. Its my preferred option. If the kids are that into fisbi g however, I wouldn't think twice about looking at a Crestliner.
  20. Dude that's a classic right there! Is that an old Starfire? You get all the fun projects don't you.
  21. I looked into the Crestliner boats. Those are pretty nice! Clean, simple, large front decks, lots of options. Looked like a good platform. Features of a Lund but without the price. Well.........a little better price anyway. I agree the Lunds look to be the top of the line as far as deep V aluminum boats. I just find it hard to process how someone can affectively and comfortably fish for bass out of the front of a deep v. I know it's possible but it would take some getting use to if you're short like me and like to flip jigs. LOL! Definately something I'm going to look into seriously before buying a new boat. A deep v is a good option. Best of all worlds for a family boat and the serious angler.
  22. Sharp boat and those lights!! Man those are bright!
  23. Yep, all of the modified tri-hulls of the late 70"s had that arrowhead like point. Looks like your motor has been restored as well. Looks clean.
  24. I'd say hair jig, shakey head centepede worm, and c-rig would be top producer on a slow bite. If the bite was active, crank and spinnerbait would be what I'd throw. I wouldn't waste my time on top water unless there is a top water bite with active feeding surface bites. Yeah, I'll have to try my Live Target frog in the fall. Could be fun. So small I have to use a spinning rod to cast it. I use the smaller one. Finesse Kermit! Lol
  25. Go buy a Live Target frog, throw it near trees, lay downs, etc. Watch the sun perch and baby bass beat it like it owed them money! Lol! Little rascals can't get their little mouths around it to take it down. Might drive you nuts with all the strikes and no takers but eventually, you will get lucky and a bigger fish will take it. Not a numbers catcher though.
