  1. Exhibit #2, your honor, in regards to action vs. color (Always wanted to play a lawyer): These two have a top coat that's pretty much unseen until they are either out in the sunlight or under the water on a sunny day that throws a cinnamon-type sheen. I am convinced that the extra layer of color doesn't help anything, but I like it, and I think it's fun to mess with color shifting paints, so I have started using them. Exhibit #3: The stripes are barely visible indoors, but they really POP in conditions similar as previously outlined. I think it's more about the action, though. If I had the patience and maturity to test, I'd catch a fish on one, then throw the other - but dang I hate to put a bait down when it's working...
  2. Yezzer - I think sometimes we get too hung up in the perfection aspect from paint jobs to the particular placement of little bitty dots / stripes that can't even be seen from more than a couple feet. I was talking to a buddy about this just the other day in that I am a believer in this order in regards to what makes a bait good or bad for catching fish: 1. Action 2. Action 3. Primary color (I don't get hung up on hues) 4. Action 5. Overall profile I am a BIG believer in action, of course.
  3. I agree, as long as a fella likes to paint, it's worth it. But you gotta understand it's for fun so you don't worry about making them perfect for sure
  4. I am guilty as well! I figure we all have to pick a little to keep things fun!
  5. 9 spots, boss. I am afraid your math is on par with your grammar ;-)
  6. You are welcome. Have a fantastic time!
  7. Yes sir I think so too!
  8. You're going to think lightning hit you this fall, my brother
  9. Tried to mark a few spots within close proximity to y'all I really like using a drop shot on the shady side of docks this time of year
  10. Don't count out buying blanks and paint. These are from August 2013 (when I first started trying to learn an air brush) - and they'll get 15' or so. When I wrap lead tape around them, they go a little deeper. if I want to REALLY get down and dirty, I'll hang a 3/16oz drop shot weight off of the front treble. If you don't consider your time costing anything (I like to mess with colors during the winters), you can get these things in the mail, painted, with good hook and good split rings for $6-$7
  11. That looks like a great day, brother Jerry! Glad y'all had some luck on a lure from the spare bedroom haha!! Tight lines and God Bless, Joe
  12. I was born in DeLand, FL; and spent most of my summers going back there to fish with my grand parents and cousins. So..... Anything deeper than, say, 20' is out of my league lol!!!
  13. I like to use the split shot as a "shallow Carolina rig", where I'm employing a constant-motion type retrieve. Drop shot, again - to me, is more of a target-specific deal; whether that's vertically due to fish on the graph, or even for pitching docks / isolated cover / etc. Main difference to me is if I let the split-shot set up sit idle, the bait will of course fall to the bottom. With the drop shot, it'll stay parallel to the bottom at a selected depth - and I can let the water dictate action.
  14. Talk about two hams separated by a toothpick....
  15. and rest on your belly because you done fished your butt off (that may be in another video of his)
  16. "Extra Medium" - I like the sound of that.
  17. I don't know how to post a link
  18. Great telling of the story as well - felt as if I was right there watching!!!
  19. In my mind, it could work. Would take some effort, but.... We all know there are some well known spawning areas on every lake, right? Say there are, I dunno, 6 well known coves within a few miles of each other. 3 are off limits to boats period (ski boats, fishing boats - rope them off with buoys) for X period of time. When that time is up, mark off the other three. I'm just spit balling here - I agree pressure on the open spots would increase, but more pressure on the same group of fish while the other group of fish spawns unencumbered.. Could work?
  20. That is an awesome idea. Best compromise to ease some pressure off spawning fish without having a true "off season" on a lake I've read.
  21. That was probably why folks were mean - gotta wear some Razorback gear
  22. Yes sir, it's the flooding. It's moved to September 12th / 13th.
  23. Were you in MIZZOU gear?
  24. Should you ever want a LOT of class....... www.legendmarine.com Love ya brother
