Google "Mill Creek MDC". It will show a very nice map of mill creek, little piney and stone mill spring. Unless things have improved over the years, you will find water at mill creek, a few holdover razorback hogs, and not much else. You need some local help from someone in that area. Otherwise it may be a long drive for just a stroll in the MTF. OFF44 needs some help from you Phelps and Pulaski county boys.

After the flood gate event in "04", I caught several at night, in and around both outlets. Most were caught on a #12 sowbug under a lighted indicator.

I'm sure that Sage has an excellent warranty service. I own 3 sage rods and have never had to use the warranty. I'm here to tell you about the durability of a sage rod. I fish 50 plus days a year and always have. My original sage rp was abused for 17 years before I retired it. I have a sage xp that has been fished equally as hard for the last 9 years. My other xp is only used at night. Buy a sage, treat it like a quality tool, and it will perform flawlessly for years. If you do something stupid, like a car door, I'm sure that sage will take care of you.

My most memorable catch was a large male brown, caught at T-como a few years back. It took about 30 or so minutes to land, and was landed on 5x. I tried to upload a picture but failed. It is one of very few large fish that I have kept. It was heavy into the 20 pound class. My second most memorable catch was a blue ribbon stringer caught at RR. I caught 10 lunkers that day, and the 5 largest fish weighed in at 62.5 pounds. The 5 ranged from 11 to 14 pounds, and were landed on 7x. All of these fish were released unharmed.

I have to agree with Bman, a 20 pound brown, on a fly rod, is quite the experience. Once you have him wore down and whipped, then comes the netting challenge. It is like trying to manuver a five gallon bucket of water into your landing net. He will fight you and pull you to the very end.

I do not think that these hatchling trout would stay in the white and red zones. Most areas have a large spring near the headwaters of the blue zone. As water warms in the summer, they would move up to these areas. Also, in the fall, their natural instincts make them move upriver for spawn time. It would be great for the blue zone. Routine stockings keep fish, for a short period of time, in the red and white waters. Otherwise, bait and hardware fishermen, would have slim pickings. Do you have the red, white and blue zones in Iowa, or is it anything goes? It would be a nice concept, but I am doubtful that it would work in Missouri streams.

Less than 6 inches is considered a "trailer". You better spread it out to seven so that it won't be considered a multiple hook for a single fly. I know the single hook rule applies. You will walk right by the hatchery office on your way to C&R, stop and ask to be sure.

I can't answer that with a yes or a no, but I can tell you that it is not a good option for that small amount of water. You will foul hook more fish than you catch.

I hope I'm there to take your picture, Drew. In the trout parks, here is a problem that is getting increasingly worse. Let's say you have just caught a lunker, revived it, and turned it back. Most times you turn it loose in shallow water, the fish will lay there and gulp air until it feels good enough to move on. Along comes a "Salem Snagger" and "slingshots" the fish and hauls him down to the park office for his lunker patch, and then off to the local bar to brag. You should always put one back in a protected area such as a deeper pool and especially away from the crowd. I usually stand over one until he moves off on his own.

In 05, two were caught from T-como between 36 and 38.5. As far as seeing the fish, travel to Backcountry Outfitters and have a look. T-como has the ability to produce fish like this on a yearly basis. The problem being, finding them, and then catching them. When you fish 30 plus years for a fish that size, more than likely you will keep it. Fish that size are near the end of their life span. According to SOH, about 13 years in missouri. Put me on your list of selfish people.

There is a limit on what they can do as far as replica's. The last time that I checked about brown trout, the largest replica available is 35 inch. Anything larger, a mold has to be made from the fish, or they do a skin mount. You wouldn't want to catch a 38 inch fish and have a 35 inch replica. At least I would not want a substitute.
