  1. Great report Greg! I'm glad to hear you got into some quality rainbows.
  2. Hey Don, My wife just reminded me of an incident similiar a few years back. Turns out the missing equipment was turned in at the hatchery. Good luck.
  3. That's terrible news Don. Hopefully one of the local guys picked it up. You need to call Anglers & Archers, plus River Run. They hear about gear being lost and especially found. I'll call Darrly and get the word out to him, so he can ask around. If any of the locals found it , he will know. If I hear anything, I'll give you a PM. Laker67
  4. I've got "wimpy" in my old age. Too cold and wet for me. I'm glad you and Duane had a great night of fishing. Good report and good fishing to you.
  5. Don, If minimum flow goes into effect on the White and the Norfork, I'm sure that it would be just a matter of time before it happened at Beaver tailwater. Unlike BSD and Norfork dams,Beaver's only outlet would be Table Rock lake. If TRD followed suit, then there you go. I would also be against adding a minimum 18 inches to my wading water.
  6. Down right "spooky"! Imagine voting for next year's season's and limits on the april ballot.
  7. This happened to me back in the late 70's. Jim McGowin and I rented a boat from the old "Neversails" boat dock. We found 2 good rainbows laid up close to Gaston's. Water was off, so we anchored and began drifting to the larger of the 2 fish. We were so intent on fishing that the rising water caught us off guard. The anchor was wedged and we were afraid to use the motor to try to free it. Luckily Jim had a knife that was sharp enough to cut the rope. We later had to reimburse the boat dock for the anchor. Even anchoring with the water off can be trouble. I have never trout fished from a boat after that day. I can leave the boat fishing to those with some experience at fishing moving water.
  8. DD, Sounds like Beeson has you figured out. Let me guess, Honeymoon at Rockin Chair.
  9. Tippet7, "Get out there and fish". That's real good advice. Lately, to many people have been sitting around worrying about, will the water be down, don't fish too close to that boat dock, what flies should I use 10 years from now, when is the lake going to turn over, and so on. I'm glad you got out there and had a good time. It's all about fishing the moment and the current conditions, and not stressing about what is going to happen on the creek 3 weeks from now. I fished last night for about 5 hours. The stars were bright, the temps were good, and I caught some fish. How can you beat a deal like that? You enjoyed a great day, and I enjoyed a great evening of fishing. I would recommend that kind of theropy to anyone. Good fishing to you Tippet7.
  10. With the expansion of the "Urban Winter Trout", I think that all of the hatcheries are tapped out. I'm not sure how that effects Meramac. Is their hatchery state operated? I read in the Sedalia paper, that the State purchased fish from a private hatchery near West Plains, to stock Liberty Park and other areas north. I also heard, through the grapevine, that they had purchased trout from Rockbridge. Prior to the mandatory 4 fish limit, there was alot of talk about expanding the state's coldwater hatcheries in all of the parks. The only expansion that I know about, is the new brown trout facility at Branson. You say that Meramac is down on numbers this year, you can include Bssp and Montauk as well.
  11. Grant Miller, A true die-hard. I hope you get the time in the future to enjoy some more memorable trips.
  12. I would have never admitted that in public, jd. Did you happen to notice what brand it was?
  13. Is that a prediction or just something on your Christmas "wish list" ?
  14. BredMan, Tan and light to medium shades of grey, sowbugs/scuds, work in all of missouri and arkansas waters. Always carry some egg patterns in the winter time. Scud sizes 14 and 16, and egg patterns at 14. 7 and 6x tippet sizes are the best choice. Weight each fly with a spit shot on the tippet according to water flow. On or near the bottom is always the best choice. Good fishing to you.
  15. I fished it on Friday the 14th. Lots of people, lots of little fish. I walked the creek and only saw 4 lunkers. The highlight of the day was a 15 inch grass pickerel.
  16. Here's another flashback. Do you guys remember when Charlie Reading worked at Springview? He tied flys and built rods at the back counter. I'm not sure when he opened his shop.
  17. That's a name that I do not recall.
  18. Count me in, Leonard. Thanks!
  19. Fishinwrench, Excellent! You painted the picture perfectly! Now you have me wondering who "Mike" was. Do you recall his last name? Was it Mike Runyan? I wonder how many remember when Springview Tackle was located above the spring? Do you recall when Tony and Shirley Pack operated Springview prior to Ed and Kay? Those were some of the good old days of C and R. Thanks for the story.
  20. I would have to agree with Greg. I have two rods that I use only at night. One is a 8.5 7wt, and the other is a 9 foot 7wt. The 9 footer wears me out and makes my back hurt only after a couple of hours. It seems I can throw the 8.5 all night without much discomfort.
  21. Nice Leonard! Nice! That jig looks exactly like my BTO special. You better send me one of yours to compare.
  22. Sorry I missed seeing your post until now. Yes, it was dec 11, 1976. Did you fish that first season? As best as I can recall, zone 1 was open in 76 and 77, with zone 2 open in 78. I can't recall when zone 3 was added. Tell us a story about one of your early trips.
  23. Nice fish Bman! Looks like your whole group got into some good fish this weekend.
  24. Bman, Congrats to your Daughter-in-law. A great looking fish.
  25. Bikehikefish, A great story. The things we do in order to get a day on the creek! I've made a couple of trips like that myself. One in particular was a trip to Montauk also. The road was not bad until I got to Licking, being that close, I had to go on. Getting down the hill to the park was treacherous, but a day on the creek made it worthwhile. Thanks for your story.
