  1. Never met up with the squid, but I am positive that bears, mountain lions, and bigfoot have traveled the shores at night, unaware of my presence waist deep in the creek.
  2. In 98 the water was off almost every nite. in 88 the water was off every nite. In 78 ten lb rainbow roamed the shores every nite.
  3. I use 1/80 oz maribou jigs like you buy at the trout parks. Hook gap is the important thing to look for. Buy the ones with the largest hook and hook gap. You will catch fish. Anything with a little flashabo added is the best. Give us a report.
  4. Really nice fish Duane. May be down fri or sat nite.Pm me your cell number and I will do likewise.
  5. Traveling which direction?
  6. You had a great day on the water buddy.
  7. Can't make it tonight, thanks for the invite. I would surely like to be there if possible. Good luck and don't give a report if you get into some good ones.
  8. Good report guys, I am going to try and make it this week if the water stays down for a few hours. Where are the big fish? They should be there.
  9. Dang that's a good looking creek with some nice fish to boot. Thanks for sharing that.
  10. Years back when I used to bow hunt, I had built a stationary stand in a medium size oak tree. Arriving before daylight one stormy morning, I decided to wait out the storm in the truck. Lightning struck several times close to where I was parked. When the storm passed, I walked to my tree stand to discover that my stand tree had been struck. Big splinters of wood and bark were everywhere, with a king size split running from top to bottom. I never used that stand again.
  11. Bait them shallow and you can sight fish them Wayne. But I have also had luck doing the blind thing in deeper water.
  12. I hope you are staying in the area Leonard.
  13. I will second that. I am always lucky on the creek right after a new purchase of fly fishing gear. It is good luck to buy something new.
  14. Alright Leonard, I like them as well. My largest ever rainbow on your hibernator.
  15. congrats on the first carp. A hard fighting, long first run, test your reel drag and your skills kind of fish. They will hit most flies when in the feeding mode. Your best bet is to create your own feeding frenzy. I use dog food and can hold fish in the area for several hours. As a bonus the buffalo and eventually catfish, will come in as well. Buffalo are hard fighters but cannot match the drag burning run of a carp. Caught on the long rod, it is almost as much excitement as a large trout.
  16. Yeah, kinda like attending a sporting event or a nascar race or waiting in line to play golf.
  17. I don't know if they are still open, but I would highly recommend them. I have had work done there, and have seen several of the fish they have done. Excellent workmanship and really great people. their website used to be "4 great fish". The brown trout they did for me is the best I have ever seen.
  18. Enjoyed as well, thanks Chief.
  19. Otters have been raiding fish baskets on loz for years as well. We had to get a heavy wire live well to keep them out.

    Mountain Lion

Probable cause right there. Out in the wild is one thing, but in a subdivision with kids, bang. Time to go bye bye.
  21. Poor as well on the big niangua.
  22. We will expect a fishing report. Glad to hear you are getting some time off to fish.
  23. When fishing taney at night, in addition to the squid, you also have to be very afraid of the fruit monster. It is unwise to carry fresh fruit with you on a night trip to taney.
  24. I suspect that the niangua will be choco latte by today or tomorrow. With the heavy generation, it will get sucked right into the main osage at pier 31.
