  1. Is that part of the river too close to the city or suburbs where there's not any outfitters? Surely an outfitter wouldn't have let them float like that. I doubt that's the case I hope. Terrible tragedy...
  2. Our rivers our fine, especially mid week. Ain't nobody from the big population areas, or the rural areas, gonna zoom in here from some F & S, Outdoor Life, Mo. Conservationist or any other dang pub. and overfish our rivers. I've seen who over fishes our rivers... and they can't read!
  3. Chief, It's your deal down there. Floatin' or wadin'... It don't matter. Indian, Big Sugar, or Shoal... you name it. Heck, you know the deal, wading you catch the biggun's. Floatin' you see the scenery, get lucky from the canoe every once and a while. Pull over and fish the holes. I'm good Sat. or Sun. Let me know when and where. My In-laws just moved from Shell Knob (right on the lake for 17 years) to Cassville. We helped move 'em a few weeks ago. Sad day buddy. I might run over there from your neck of the woods to stay overnight after we fish. Lokking forward to meeting you guys!
  4. I've finally got an open weekend. Just looked at the weather myself, looks perfect to be on the water somewhere. If you or Buzz got room in a canoe that would be great, as long as I'm not taking up one of the kids spot!
  5. I will post this on Mid-States also cause it's where it belongs. Left Sunday morning the 17th and came home Friday the 22nd. Five old friends together and two nice V-bottoms thank goodness. Winds were relentless Monday thru Wednesday afternoon. Hugged the south shore most of the time to avoid a bow-beatin'. 47 MPH tops on Tuesday. Fishing below average until Thursday. Things calmed down and we got into the eyes along with a couple of stripers. I'll try to post a few pics of good ol' central Ks. Hope this works out, I haven't posted much since I came on here... by the way, the guys in these pics are a couple of my buddies... they haven't sent me the pics with me in'em yet (lucky for you all!).
  6. Chief, you're a lucky man. Great pics of the kids and your trip! You and Buzz got anything happening next weekend?

Last time I saw the Ozark Mountain Daredevil's was I guess about 10 or 12 years ago at an outdoor concert here in K.C. at the Flamingo Casino (now the Isle of Capri). My wife almost got kicked out of the dang thing 'cause she was dancing on top of a picnic table and wouldn't get down when security asked her to! I finally saw what was happening and "gently" coaxed her down. Told her to act her age and she said... "I AM DAMMIT!" Uh... we're both now 50.
  8. Heck, the Red River that flooded North Dakota and Minnesota earlier this year flows north I'm with you Chief.... let 'em stay back east!

  10. Good job Whak'em. #*@% him, #*@% this thread, and let's either talk fishing or #*@% our loved one!
  11. PM DOCTAJ! Let's get back (no pun intended) to fishing!
  12. Nice spots and whites!
  13. Sorry DoctaJ, I should clarify. For my particular situation, a chiropractor could not have prevented what ultimately led to a bruised spinal chord.
  14. Probable cause... but it's usually my last one that gives me hallucinations.
  15. Jeez, hope none of you guys never have to go through the crap I've been through. Three neck surgeries resulting in a full neck fusion. Seven surgeries in the last five years all together. I know... But, I'm telling ya, be careful of chiropractors. If there's really something wrong with you he or she could make it worse.
  16. The only black bear I've ever seen was on the short, poison-ivy covered trail off of 19 hwy. down to Greer Spring. It was up a tree and came flying down and vamoosed down into a hollow. I don't think a bear would take the time to open a zipper though. I still think you came across a big coon. When you're camping on the river at night, a nice sized coon would sound like something big making it's getaway.
  17. I know... my wife slipped me another stupid pill.
  18. You two continue to torture me. Maybe this is what the pubs meant by waterboarding. Great pics. Big... or Little Sugar? See ya down the road (71 hwy.)!
  19. Good friend of mine fishes the Blue. Vicinity of interstate 435 on downstream I think. Not sure where he launches, maybe on the Mo. He catches channels and carp, all the while with a clothespin clamped to his nose while "tasting" that clean, fresh air...
  20. Ah... the return of the mysterious coon people.
  21. Thanks Wader, just wondering. I'm usually heading to the Big Piney if I'm heading that way. The Maries always intrigued me though. Do you like the Maries better than the Moreau?
  22. Not much action it seems to me. Hopefully it will take off with time. A couple of lakes listed in Missouri should be listed under Kansas.
  23. Well, in a big cove, if I'm fishing his side and want to pass him. I'll reel it up, pass him up with a congenial howdy, and leave him PLENTY of water to fish before I start again. If we're fishing or trolling the same speed, I won't speed up to go in front of him of course. I'll just fish after him. If I get into a cove, there's a boat on one bank already and I start on the opposite, once we start to meet up he's got the right-a-way. Ditto the other way around. I do my best to not hit small coves somebody's already in... there's plenty of those on the lakes.
  24. Wader... I've crossed the Maries many times on 63 hwy. Read about it a lot too. One of those Ozark "border" streams. I've always been interested in fishing it, but living in K.C., I tend to head to the rivers down south that have always produced for me. You being from St. Joe, what makes you head to the Maries... working around Jeff City, or just the love of that stream, with little pressure also? Nice fatties on those LM bud!
