I believe if Matt Cassel played behind the O-line Trent Green played behind, he'd be every bit as good. Matt Leinart went Hollywood right after he was drafted. Maybe his dedication to the game was derailed some. USC's second or possibly even third string QB's are better than most college starters. Heck, he was a third stringer behind Carson Palmer and Matt Leinart, then a second stringer behind Leinart.
Look, Trent went to Indiana. Not exactly a powerhouse, but he was drafted. Not sure which round but I know it wasn't the first or second. Vermiel loved him behind a great line at St. Louis... then the knee injury. Then the magical Kurt Warner season. Orlando Pace in his prime at LT protecting his backside.
Here in KC... he had the best O-line in football for three or four years. Once Willie Roaf retired unexpectedly, things went downhill from there... concussions to be exact.
Wayne and BRBF... in the end, and I know this is a contradictory statement, I like Cassel, but I don't like our new GM and head coach so far. Maybe Brody Croyle could've done just as good as Cassel since we're rebuilding, if he could've stayed healthy. Guy can't take a hit.
Money should have been spent on improving the O-line, not the QB position. O-line has been a revolving door, just like the WR's.
Cassel took the money, he I'm sure he knew was gonna take a beating.
Pioli and Haley have shown me nothing yet...
Not one Pioli interview here in KC since the season started!
Now... if we beat the defending Super Bowl champs this weekend, I might make a pair of season tickets appear out of my backside sunday!
I'm a typical Chiefs fan!
