  1. That sounds like the kind of fishing I like to do. Hit me up sometime and maybe we can work something out.
  2. CDC

    Big Sugar 6/23

Nice bass. That is generally the range of the bigger fish i catch on Sugar. Last week's 18 inch bass was a rarity for that stretch of creek.
  3. yeah. I am not the best about getting online and posting things....kind of go in spurts. I haven't floated that section of Shoal Creek in a long time. How was it?
  4. Thanks, one the biggest ones (if not the biggest) i have pulled out of that river in a while. Minnow: All of the people we ran across were also very friendly. That is one of the reasons I tend to like Sugar creek over Elk River. Seems that Elk River gets the rowdy crowd....
  5. no rain..sprinkled for a few minutes but just barely. It really started coming down after we pulled out about 6:00 pm.
  6. Floated Big Sugar on Saturday with a couple of friends. Put in at Deep Ford and floated down to Gracie's. Fishing was a little slow to start but around 1:00 a front started to move in and it picked up a little. Caught most of the fish on a crawdad colored fines worm. Mostly small fish...a few in the 13 to 14 inch range. Pulled a nice 18 incher out of a long fairly shallow stretch about a mile below Craig 0' Lee. Ended up with 14 in the boat for myself, 12 for my canoe partner and my buddy int he other boat pulled in 20.
  7. I would have to agree with you. Floated Allen Bridge to Lime Kiln on Friday with my cousin. We caught 55 fish between the two of us. All nice fish with several 15 inch bass a few in the 16 inch range (including a nice smallmouth) and a few 17 inchers. Best fishing I have done all year long. We even pulled out a stringer full of rock bass with a few of those in the 10 inch range. Most were caught on a 5 inch trick worm.
  8. it is possible that I am.
  9. I floated Cherry Corner on Monday. I would have to agree that it might be a little too much for a family new to floating. You can portage around most of the stuff but that first S curve is a little tricky. My cousin and I floated from a spot on old scenic road down to undercliff (or whatever it is called now) on Saturday. It is about 3 and a half miles up stream. The first spot where the road comes close to the creek and there is a place to pull over. That is a pretty easy float and some good fishing. We Caught about 15 total on that strectch with a 15 inch largemouth a 15 inch smallmouth and a 10 inch rock bass. Not bad for a few hours floating. I talked them in to riding with me up to the put in and driving my truck back. Cost me $10 but that allowed me to only drive 1 vehicle and not have to worry about leaving my truck on the side of the road. Normally I don't worry about that but on Old Scenic road it is a little bit of a gamble (there is one person up that way that doesn't like to share the river).
  10. lol. sorry couldn't help it.
  11. You know, I was thinking the exact same thing when I saw Cherry Corner get recommended. I am a little late on this one...but I would have to agree with what everyone has already mentioned. Another good easy float for the family would be Reddings Mill to Wildcat. Short and really no obstacles at all. The fishing can be decent but is usually not as good as it is further upstream. (I fished this stretch last night and caught about 7 on a spinner bait)
  12. Wow...it has been a while since I posted on this forum...actually, it looks like it has been a while since anyone posted on this forum. Anway, I floated Cherry Corner on Saturday. For the most part the fishing was pretty slow. Managed to pull in a decent 13 inch smallmouth a smaller largemouth and a nice rock bass. Lots of bites from small fish that just couldn't get the bait in their mouth but not much else. Anyone else been out and had any success recently?
  13. Sadly it looks like I will not be able to make this one. I have a Boy Scout event that weekend and it is Palm Sunday.....too bad, I always look forward to these floats.
  14. Well I tried but it looks like I am not going to be able to make this one. Hopefully the next one will work out.
  15. That was my Durango. Only saw one Yak. He wasn't fishing just paddling by but looked like he was having a good time. I missed 3 fish....all of them had a solid hook sets but wrapped me up in brush and couldn't get them out before they threw the hook. One of them in particular looked like a real nice largemouth but can't be sure of that.
