  1. That should be 58.......fat fingers on a small keyboard......
  2. Welcome to Beaver. I went out with Jason from Jt Crappie Guides this morning. Basically just checking some structure and see if the Crappie were moving due to the warm weather. Wind was a major issue later in the day, and the bite was slow. I am not a huge fan of fishing during an oncoming weather event.......When this rain blows out, they should be beginning to hit. Mid March through April is a pretty good bet. We put in at Hickory Creek and motored up towards the Goshen put in. Saw a bunch of people striper fishing and a few bassers(must have been a tourney). Most of what was caught was done on a red tube with white tail. Retreival was pretty slow and they were on the bottom. Hope you have some luck out there. Edit: Water was fairly stained but got clearer towards War Eagle. Water temp topped at 68. You might also check out Monte Ne(more towards Rogers though). Fishing in there can be a bit more hit and miss, but there are some slabs out there.
  3. I believe so. We are just down the shore from the Yacht Club over by Indian Creek. PM incoming.
  4. Fired up an 80's Dunhill Mojito and brewed a pot of Peruvian Organic coffee. Wonderful night.
  5. I recommend picking up the Buffalo River Handbook by Ken Smith. Tons of history about the river and mile by mile descriptions of the water. You have picked one of the most beautiful sections of water around.
  6. Enjoy the trip Lee. Next time shoot a little further South. If I wasnt already booked up I would join you. We are camping at Roaring River over the Easter holiday.
  7. BW, let me know when you will be out on the water next and we can meet up. I have an 8wt St Croix setup for larger fish. I put Rio's Bass line on it. I have had a striper on twice and it was a humbling experience..........the only time when I had wished for a little heavier duty reel.
  8. Just a bump for anyone in the area. Might be a tad wet......but why would that stop us???
  9. I am definitely in Russ. I will pass the word along.
  10. I think the brown on a longer streamer hook(instead of the two) would be awesome for smallies or largemouth. It seems to mimic a sculpin or smaller crawdad. The two hook setup would be good for fishing panfish areas, that way you get the bigger for the larger fish, but the small mouth of the panfish wont cause false takes.
  11. I am afraid too many different sections would be bad. I like having area specific, but maybe just that, areas, not specific creeks streams. Search is a great tool and I use it constantly to search for specifics. I am honestly extremely happy with the forum the way it is.
  12. Headed out yesterday morning when I saw the generation had stopped. The drive over was breathtaking with the new snowfall. Wish I had my camera. Got on the water about 10am at the Dam site. There were about three other people fishing. The very small fish were hitting the top of the water like crazy. I assume this was due to the snowflakes. I switched flies heavily with little luck. The wind was extremely gusty and it seemed the fish were LOW. All of the fish I caught were on the bottom. I was false setting due to dragging. They ended up hitting a small lightening bug pattern, but even then it was very casual takes. Fished till about 3pm. Moved to the walkin, then to Parker. About 5 fish caught overall. Not so successful in fish, but was a great time to be able to study the water and learn where the vanes and structure were.
  13. Thanks Tim. It hit me when I thought about the park being closed until the 1st. Getting cabin fever and everywhere has a ton of water. I dont know that I have ever been below the Dam. I have heard people talk about it, but never thought to look into it more.
  14. Will there be a ton of people on the water tomorrow or will most wait till Sunday? I was thinking about heading up for a little escape...but frgot all about opening day.
  15. Probably not quite PC......but it made me grin.
  16. Strangecreek, I love Smokin Joes. We have three within driving distance!! When I was back in Harrison it was the Dairy Diner on the way to the Buffalo. I don't know if it was the food or anticipation of getting on the water, but I always enjoyed eating there. Also eating a big greasy breakfast at Big Daddy's before hitting the creek or the river. When i am headed to Beaver Lake, its a tradition to stop at the gas station in Garfield and get a huge ice cream cone. Uaually it is about the perfect size to be finished upon arriving at the cabin.
  17. Seats are actually pretty clean......I wasnt all that wild. It was a blast to have when gas was .89 a gallon. Made some great roadtrips as well.
  18. Totally off topic, but I figured I would give it a try. This is a 1972 Chrylser New Yorker. 440ci V-8. Brougham edition. All original. Needs a little work, but would make a one of a kind restore. It is currently non-running.I drove this through high school and enjoyed it immensly. Feel free to email me with any questions or for pictures. Looking for 1000.
  19. I have typed responses a few times.....and deleted them. "If you don't have anything nice to say......" That being stated........I have met him in person and would not p*ss down his throat if his guts were on fire!
  20. I agree with what Al said. Also want to add that you will experience the enjoyment of little to no other paddlers on the water. I love to see people enjoying the water, but there is something special about stopping in between casts to realize there are no sounds of civilization. Maybe I am a bit to romantic, but this is something I enjoy.
  21. This may help or might not.... I have not tried a ton of lines, but in this short experience have learned that what you spend parallels directly with performance. Fly line is not a place I would skimp.
  22. SWEPCO has been really slow this winter. I have asked around and no one really knows why. I was over there a few weeks ago and we caught a handful, but not a ton. I did get to land my first Largemouth on a fly rod though. Was fishing a Todd's Wiggle Minnow in the grass near the outlet. I am wanting to head back over there myself and see if it has picked up any.
  23. Planning to head up and hike around tomorrow. Hoping the melting snow and warmer temps might have those smallies moving.
  24. So forumla (AREAx.25)x57.5 3in=.25ft AREA=LENGTHxWIDTH Thats crazy!!! I had approximately 400lbs of ice on top of my car.
  25. Made the Pilgrimage from Pea Ridge to Bentonville and all over Rogers this morning. Looks like a war zone. Trees down all over. On a positive note......if you want an unstoppable car, buy a subaru. I never spun a tire once. Had to go around two pickups and half dozen cars who were spinning going up hills.
