  1. This is from Scott Branyan's newsletter..... Rain, Rain, Go Away! The Corps opened five spillway gates at Table Rock dam just before noon. Gates on Beaver are already open. According to a report from the Corps provided to KY3 News in Springfield, Bull Shoals dam will likely be opening spillway gates. According to the updated plan, expect the following releases: Beaver - up to 40,000 cfs Table Rock - up to 50,000 cfs Bull Shoals - up to 35,000 to 45,000 cfs Heavy thunderstorms expected through today and tomorrow could produce more rain than expected necessitating even heavier releases. Numerous flash flood warnings and flood warnings have been issued over the weekend and into this afternoon for the Ozarks. Please be aware if you are travelling in the area. Scott Branyan
  2. Got this at the office before I left..... Good Morning Everyone, While there has been severe weather in the area the last couple of days, including tornadoes, it appears that today, and especially Tuesday, have the potential to be worse. Today's outlook is very complicated and hinges on where storms develop this morning. As of 3am we are thinking that at least a small complex of storms will form over southern Kansas in the next 6 hours and travel east-southeast across portions of eastern Oklahoma and western Arkansas. These storms, if they form, they will have wind and hail potential. If they expand to cover the whole area, then they will reduce our overall threat for later this afternoon and evening as they use up they instability. If they do not form at all, we will have just isolated storm potential as the main boundaries stay north and west of our area. But if they form and just cross the north portion of our area, they will leave a boundary that will be the focus for significant supercell thunderstorm development. If that is the case, there will be the threat for a strong tornado or two near where the boundary sets up. All data continues to indicate that late Tuesday and Tuesday night could see a major tornado outbreak across the area. Data to this point does not indicated a solid line of storms crossing the area, but rather several intense supercells will be possible. If this evolves as it could, then long-track strong tornadoes could be possible in eastern Oklahoma and western Arkansas. All comm systems should be checked and ready to go. We should not only be ready for spotter operations, but also potential recovery operations. We would urge all EMs to be in NWSChat, this is the primary backbone method for coordinating information with us during severe weather. We are monitoring OK CEMA3. Our AWIN connection is down. We will work to see if we can get it back up. More later, Matthew D. 3. Your all in our prayers guys.
  4. The boat ramp is opened and the Parker Bottom campgrounds. The rest of the campgrounds are closed. The COE has issued a warning that flood releases may be necessary.
  5. I had heard all the camping was closed. The Dam Access and Bathouse Walkins were closed due to cleanup efforts. There is no wade fishing at all. It is about 12ft above normal level. We are expecting some serious rainfall this weekend, and if this occurs, the floodgates will need to be opened as well as some pretty heavy generation. It is best to call the Dam Store to get information about the levels, fishin, and campgrounds being opened.
  6. I second Jeff's response. It is a very nice place to stay and the owners are top notch. I wouldn't hesitate recommending it to anyone.
  7. Fished Saturday with clients and did well. Chamois worms and larger prince nymphs. Water was quick, so split shot was needed.
  8. Dammit Russ!!!

  10. I will snag a few. Scott Branyan has some video of the gates.
  11. Just now starting to die off in NW Arkansas. All the creeks are blown out and we had a ton of road closings and buildings ruined. Both Benton and Washington counties are is a state of disaster.

Took the drive this afternoon. It was amazing how much water there was. Water was up to 540 just north of the Walgreens.

  16. Have you ever met Phil in person? I imagine not. Your ignorance really shows when you assume you can figure out a persons motives over an internet connection. Your still here.......sooo......are you just wanting to stir the pot? Or maybe if you keep repeating your plight, someone will have sympathy on such an abused person.
  17. ........so what? It's Phil's board, Phil's prerogative, Phil's way. He is not forcing you to come back day after day. Your not donating money to help pay for the server space, nor donating to help pay for tech support, nor(or so you say) adding fishing reports or pics. SOOOOO.......quit yer bitchin'. Actually if your not here to post reports or share pics.....and its such an awful place......why come back?
  18. Zebra midges are pretty much a fail safe. Size and color can be tricky, but always get a few takers. Also watch what the fish are doing. If they are nose down alot....they are diggin for scuds. As tan or olive scud can be very successful as well.
  19. I use the Fishponds.......snotty status or not. Best quality softsided cooler I have found.
  20. I am pretty sure most of the property along Taney is either COE or privately owned. I camper up on the lake when I stayed there.
  21. Great looking boat brother. Glad you finally got one!!
  22. Thought I would add a few I took from last Saturday. Stream bank restoration looks good.
  23. I wont be w/o clousers.....a fail safe IMO. I dont see alot of good having "realistic" patterns when it comes to smallies. Alot goes to size and correct color. I have seen a ton of crawfish flies that look real......but honestly have yet to meet anyone who can fish said flies exactly how a crawfish moves. Also placing the fly in the strike zone and getting the retreival the fish want are the trick. All that being said.....clousers, muddler minnows, Barr's meat whistle, Whitlocks Near-Nuff sculpin, poppers, weedless mouse rat. Hit up Umpqua's website and search through all their bass flies to get ideas. Also Orvis's fly fishing podcast had a great one titled "Laryngitis Largemouth" that talks about different ways to fish for bass. Hope this helps a bit.
  24. Alot goes into fit of the boot and your socks, etc. A boot too tight will cut off circulation, and cause cold feet. I also wear a liner sock under a wool sock on very cold days. This allows wicking of sweat and keeps you feet a bit warmer. Just a few thoughts.
  25. I second this. I have got to know Larry and his brother very well. They are both top notch guys and have the best deal on boats and gear around.
