  1. I've visited your radio site in the past going directly to it from the link in your address. Before the past shows would be listed and you could click on them and listen. Could just be me or my computer, but none of that is displaying now. Any suggestions? Thanks. Donna G
  2. Thanks, Whack'em. Pretty brown fish. Extremely feisty. Flipped the switch on my spinning reel and was back reeling. I did NOT swing him. Champ lipped him for me. He's a pretty good fella. lol
  3. Techo, what color Wart are you using? I love throwing it and have had good success in the fall/winter before, but not so much this year at Table Rock. We were using the color that's called V45, I think. I've also been using that phantom brown and a V37 some. Champ188 forgot to mention I caught my 4lb smallmouth on a shakey head. I really like shakey fishing and tend to use it when I should be hurling something else, so he gets after me about it. I like to go 'neener, neener, neener' when I catch a good one shaking. Using those Table Rock Chomper triangle shaped heads 1/4oz in the wind. The smallie ate a Zoom watermelon purple finesse worm.
  4. Brrr. It was might airish today. We slept in until 5:30/6, then had to pack, load and drive to TR. Got on the water about 10:30 and fished until dark. Caught 'em good, most of them shallow between Baxter and Shell Knob in pockets, main lake points and bluff ends. That's a great pattern. lol "Where did you catch 'em? Everywhere." However, key seemed to be staying in the wind and boy was it windy. Weird thing - we couldn't get bit on big wood. We threw the blade on some great looking laydowns, but no takers. Ledge rock was working. Caught a couple on inside dock corners, but most of the bites came just moving down chunk rock banks. Majority were caught on a War Eagle Spot Remover spinner bait and a gold Pointer 78. Was real surprised they didn't eat the Wart better. I threw it on some good looking warty stuff, but just caught a few little ones. Put down the Wart, picked up the blade and started catching quality fish again. Nothing huge, but a couple of 4-pounders and several in the 2-3 lb range. Best 5 probably weighed 18lbs. We had a good mixture of spots and blacks, plus a few smallmouth. Even had a meanmouth. I tried to catch a drum so Champ188 could trash me on the forums so more, but alas, no luck. We're still trying to decide where to start tomorrow. Champ is fishing AIA next Saturday with a buddy (or me, if the buddy bails), so he's thinking about sticking around Schooner Sunday and looking for some fish closer to launch as a back-up. If we come your direction, we'll keep an eye out for you guys. I'll be the one dressed like an Eskimo. If I had fallen in today I would have drowned. Two sets of thermals, sweats, turtle neck, hoodie, Gore-Tex jacket and bibs. Oh, yeah, ear warmers, neck warmer and pocket warmers. Donna G
  5. Will do.
  6. Thanks! I've wanted to learn how to tie a blood knot, although I hear it is a pain. I fish a shakey head a lot with 6 or 8lb P-Line. I have a hard time seeing the line and I read in FLW or BASS where one of the pros uses yellow braid for shakey head fishing so he can see the line better, plus use a stronger line. He then ties a 7-10' flurocarbon leader to the braid with a blood knot. He puts a drop of Super Glue were the lines meet and rolls it between his fingers until it dries. Sounds like a lot of trouble, but if I could improve my hook-up ratio because I can see bites that I can't feel, plus have fewer break off, it might be worth it. Donna G
  7. Stout bags are good. That would be nice. I'll be the short round one all bundled up next to the big guy (Champ188). lol
  8. Thank you. Champ and I appreciate it. Prognosis is good and we feel blessed that it was caught so early. I won't make the annual Polar Bear at Beaver, (And that's a bad thing?) but I'll be more than ready for the CPAA at Beaver in early March. Hope the bass are ready. Donna G
  9. lol ... I'm looking for redemption at the last one December 6. There were definitely some stout bags for the day it was.
  10. Last one this year. Register at the ramp. For results of previous tournaments see http://www.centralpro-am.com/Team%20Results/main.htm Call CPAA at 417-739-3478 for more info.

  13. Did you fish? Think there were about 25 boats. Winner got $900 something, plus he had big bass for $700. Not bad. We were cautiously optimistic because we had a small limit by 10:30. Culled up by ounces three times, but could never get a kicker. Had 12.99, I think. They paid 5 places and 5th was 15 lbs or so. Champ says results are posted on the CPAA site, but I haven't looked yet. http://www.centralpro-am.com/ Took me until Sunday evening to warm up. lol It wasn't terrible, but just sustained cold for that many hours. NONE of my woolies came off during the day. Think Champ got aggravated at me. Had so many layers on my head, everytime he said something I'd go 'huh?' I was the livewell girl this trip. Caught a few fish, but nothing that contributed. Champ had the spinnerbait working. Naturally. His favorite. Buzz bait caught some, too. I heard the winner put his in the bag with the buzz bait. I caught a fat, short spot on a big Spook. He hit it three times before taking it. I just kept walking it and he finally nailed it. Next one is December 6. I want to be sure and fish it because I'm going to be down for a while after that. Kidney cancer surgery on December 9. Ugh.
  14. Troy, thanks for the update. I didn't mean to give misinformation. I had been told 100% payback. 80% is still good. I'm looking forward to fishing it with Champ. Think I'd better lay out my woolies, though. lol Think it will be a little nippy. Since Stren cuts on Friday, shouldn't be too much boat traffic to contend with. Now we just need to figure out how to catch 'em after two weeks of Stren beating the water and the weather change. Thanks. Donna G
  15. Thanks Captain Don. Good seeing you. Donna G
  16. Thanks, Whack'em. Yep James did well. He didn't have a fish until 2 p.m. the last day and limited out. He was proud of that. My dock pro didn't front end me and I had lots of shots behind him. It's still tough fishing used water. I tried throwing different baits than he was, but no luck. Course, I ain't completely crazy - I threw a jig, too. Yeah, it was amazing how very curious some of the Stren guys were. All of them we met were super nice, but there were a few that would definitely slow way down when going past you especially if you were fishing out. Good luck at Stockton this weekend. Sure is going to be a big change in the weather at Table Rock between now and Saturday. Think I'll have my 'woolies' on for the morning run. lol Appreciate it. I'm doing well. Surgery day is getting closer (Dec. 9), so I'm a little anxious. Prognosis is good, though. If all goes well, I'll be back fishing well before next CPAA at Beaver in March. Donna G
  17. There's a buddy tournament out of Ahoy's this Saturday. $100 team, $20 big bass. No membership fee and 100% payback. For more information call 417-739-3478.

  19. Central Pro-Am was there for the Fall opener with 57 boats out of Ahoy's. Biggest problem on the fishing spots is the 200-boat Stren tournament coming up this week. Starts Wednesday, I think. A lot of them were there already. Here's a wrap, there's a wrap, everywhere a wrap boat. Robert Dodson won our tournament on the pro side and on Sunday had Stren boats following him everywhere. Someone reported seeing him 3 different times with 6-7 boats observing like a flotilla. Inquiring minds want to know. I fished no-boater and didn't have any keepers on Saturday. My pro had 4 keepers off a dock pattern with a War Eagle jig. We didn't do much of anything else. Went down the lake Sunday and it was tough. My pro was super nice, though, and tried very hard to help me catch a keeper for points. Alas, no success. Beats working. I'm itching to go again. There's a buddy tournament out of Ahoy's this Saturday. $100 team, $20 big bass. No membership fee and 100% payback. Ya'll come. I'm hoping to take somebody's money one of these days. lol Donna G
  20. Now Champ knows that when we are fishing for bass, particularly in a tournament, he tends to squeal like a girl when my rod is bending like I hooked the bottom of the lake. I can't help that drum like me. Somebody needs to ask him about the 15lb cat I landed for him while bass fishing. SOMEBODY was a little excited when he set the hook. I'm relatively new to navigating forums, so I hope this attachment of me and one of my drum friends displays. I've lost 50+ lbs since this pic was taken. Too bad it wasn't sooner. The drum would have looked bigger.
  21. Yeah, another Bleeding Shiner. I'm not alone. lol Champ really likes Grand. We live in Bella Vista and can be there as quick as we can Beaver, if not before. I like it a lot when the bass are biting, but it is darn rough when the big boats are out. Guess I'm a little chicken. I'm from a Texas river fishing background. Old school. We didn't know back that windy could be a good thing. If it got more than 5mph we'd just run way up the river. ha, ha Welcome. Yes, it is a great site and a lot of people post some very helpful tips. Just learned a good one from Captain Don House on the Table Rock site. Hopefully, hookset to landing ratio will approve.

    Swepco

I LOVE Swepco. One of the few places I ever caught more than Champ. Believe it was 51 that day. What a blast. I get a thrill out of catching bass with soft plastics and we were usually predominantly Texas-rigged worms and Carolina rigs that day. I asked him to post on this forum since he keeps up with the restrictions, etc. at Swepco. It used to be completely catch and release, but I believe they are allowing you to keep a few now. These fish are hun-gry. Please don't throw your old plastics in the lake. Bass have been caught there with a belly full. Last trip to Swepco was during warm weather, strangely enough. Regardless, we still caught a few. I got a nice one right at the discharge when the temp gauge showed 105, I think. Amazing. He felt like a warm puppy when I released him.
  23. 13.70's not bad. It wasn't that easy of a day. Yep, no check and the place kinda loses meaning, doesn't it? Sigh. I'm so ready for a check. Yes, we had fun, too and it is a great little tournament. You'd think a deal like this at Table Rock in the Fall would draw a big crowd. Yeah, lost a good one myself. Champ188 was not pleased. Big one shortlined me at the boat. I got flustered and didn't get a good hookset on my shakyhead. Fish was on for a brief agonizing moment. Thanks. You, too. I hope I get to fish the next two CPA teams. Champ may throw me over for his other fishing buddy Mr. Buzz. Hope not. Naw, he wouldn't do that. He can't keep me out of the CPA Pro-Am November 1-2, though. I'm already in. lol
  24. How many boats were there? Capt. Don said he was boat number 8 and didn't expect much more than that. We fished CPA open team on Saturday and we were surprised there were 14. There were only 8 or 9 in September. Naturally, we were boat 14. Such a good deal. 100% payback, no membership. I've been surprised at the small turn out. We went back yesterday after being unable to boat a limit during CPA on Saturday. Didn't get there until noon and went to a different area of the lake. Guess that's where we should have gone on Saturday. Caught 'em better. Best 6 weighed around 16. 16 won it Saturday. Champ said I kicked his rear on quality fish, but he definitely caught more.
  25. Did you fish it, rangerz20? We did. How'd you do? Had 4 by noon and never could finish the limit. Thought we had something going on when we practiced Friday, but it didn't pan out. A number of nice limits came in, though. Think Lupe Garcia and his partner won it with 16 something, plus big bass. Went back yesterday for fun fishing and went up the King. That's where we should have gone for the tournament, I guess. Hindsight and foresight. Oh, well. I caught two nice ones on a white splatter back square bill, plus Champ caught 'em good on his favorite bait. When's the next one? November 8th, right?
