  1. Current level is 872.58 up 2 from yesterday. Releasing 0
  2. Water temp was 60 most everywhere I went today. the water color was excellent around the twin bridges. Crappie were hitting excellent on blue/black/chartruese jigs on a 1/16 oz lead head along the banks. We had some really good fish today with several fish over 11" and a few over 13". In total, 3 of us kept 39 crappie, 1 walleye, and 4 white bass. We would have had more crappie, but started a little catch and release at the end. The females were still full, but they were shallow. The rising water hadn't messed with them to bad yet, but with all the rain coming in things could change quickly. I have another crappie/walleye trip on monday, so should get a better idea how this rain will effect the bite. Bass have been drilling the spinnerbaits for the past few days. find a bank that has some wind blowing in on it, and you should find some bass. Lots of 14-15 inch fish, but some keepers are coming in also. Walleye are starting to pick up and are hitting jigs in 10-12 foot of water on secondary and main lake points and larger rock banks. This bite should really pick up over the next week!! Catfish- find the feeder creeks, go way back into them, and put on a shrimp, night crawler, or shad sides and hang on. This is a temp bite, but as long as the water is coming in, you should find the channel cat feeding. Good luck to everyone, and give me a call if you need any help, I will do what I can!!
  3. its tuff for everyone i have talked to. even the game wardens said they had only talked with one boat that had 10 fish between 2 people, and that was about noon or so. maybe, if we don't get lots of rain, it will be better later this week1!
  4. I didn't make it out today, but a buddy of mine went crappie fishing. it was really tuff again. When are you taking the kids fishing? give me a call at 4172348988. If i can help the kids have a good time I will try my best. the crappie are just taking a couple days off, but they will be going strong again soon.
  5. Today is tuff. Crappie are not biting. Bass are hitting spinnerbaits some but very few people are having luck on Crappie. Hope nobody wasted a day cause of last nights report. Letting water. Out today and really messed up the bite
  6. sorry, didn't see this response..I would love to take you out bass fishing. give me a call and we can see if i hve some time open for you! love to bass fish this lake!!
  7. Water temp was 56-58 in the ruark area and the lake was 2 foot high today and rising slowly. Crappie were fair on jigs on secondary points with 1/8 oz jigs and 2"grubs. The minnow bite seemed to work a little better today, but lots of smaller fish. The recent cold front and rains have moved the fish back off the banks, but they are still biting a little. Just make sure you work both the shallows and the nearest drop off. With the warm weather coming up, the fish should move right back up to the shallows and prepare for the spawn. Bass are hitting pretty good on jigs and spinnerbaits on secondary points and along the larger rock banks up the river arms. This is going to be a great year to catch osme big fish, so if you like to bass fish, get on the lake and start finding them bass. We are planning on having the thursday evening tournaments (but going to go every other thursday) The more boats, the more fun, so everyone is invited..I will post some more info later this week. White bass are still hitting up the river arms and around the ruark area on crappie jigs, blakemore roadrunners, and 1/16 oz pony heads with a grub. Walleye are biting good on jigs in 10 foot of water on points and secondary points. If you like to catch walleye, go crappie fishing, hit the secondary points, and you should go home with a mess of crappie and a couple walleye for dessert. Good luck to everyone and feel free to call before you come up to get any updates. I am trying to keep the facebook page and my website reports up to date so take a look at them also.
  8. Welcomebto stockton. Give me a call soon and I will try to help you find fish...Crappie are biting
  9. For the most part I use 1/16 or 1/8 oz lead heads or pony heads and a 2" grub or triple ripple. Hardly ever use minnows unless I have someone that just really wants to use them. I find that the jigs just catch more fish, you can cover more water, and you catch bigger fish. But nothing is ever 100% when you are crappie fishing. If it is a post front during the spawn and the fish have slowed or stopped, then I might tip a jig with a minnow and see if it turns them on a little.
  10. went out for a 4 hr trip this evening. both guys had a blast and caught lots of crappie. The males are up and making some beds, the females are staged and easy to catch. The only days I have open right now for full days are april 26 and 27. Other than that I have a few 4 hour trips I can work in, but really that is about all you need if the crappie are biting this good. Times are tuff, so if you can't afford a trip, just give me a call and I will try to give you some help over the phone. If you haven't been catching crappie (and don't take this wrong!!), then you are doing something wrong! Even after the front today we had a limit in 2 hours. The only slow day I have had in the past 2 weeks was sat morning and it ended up being my mistake not the fishes! I haven't had anytime in the past few days to try any walleye, but just go catch crappie and you just might hook into a nice one!! Remember, 10" length limit and 15 fish. That is plenty for dinner and it'll keep the population going strong for the next few years!! Good luck to everyone and be safe!!
  11. I will have to get another pic of my boat. Thought I had one, but guess it was to far in front of Thompson's and got cropped out!! Now that was a good one!! I crack myself up sometimes....
  12. Are we going fishing Gilly?? Send me the dates you will be in town. Hopefully I have a day free to take you and that Leonard guy out fishing.
  13. trying to go to sleep and here something moving under the bed. If it doesn't go to sleep too, you might get a new video by tomorrow morning.
  14. lake temp was 59 clarity was normal. Crappie have been hitting excellent for the past week. I use 1/8 oz jigs most of the time due to the wind we seem to have on the lake most of the time. This evening, I dropped down to the 1/16 oz because we didn't have the wind. We got on the lake about 6 pm this evening and fished to dark, but time hasn't seemed to make to much of a difference all week. Everyone seems to be getting a pretty good bite in 2-8 foot of water. Work the jig slowly under a strike indicator, and pay close attention to the indicator. When it indicates, then it's time to go to work. We have had some really good fish the past few days and the fishing should keep getting better. Walleye are still hitting on the main lake points some, but they have slowed some over the past week. You can still pick up a few fish, but it's quickly coming to an end and they will move into a more active feeding pattern and be easier to figure out here in another couple weeks. If you really want to catch walleye right now, your best bet is to hit the main lake points closest to the dam with jigs, jerkbaits, and shad raps. work from the all around the points. If you are there during the day, use the electronics and locate the fish, then try jigging for them. We have still been catching a few, but to be hones, have been after the crappie more over the past week. I have seen some really big pictures of some really big bass. In fact, I don't think I gave JR Oldham props for his 8.5 lb bass last week. I will try to get the pic to upload with the report. I tried to photo shop myself in, but I'm not that good at computers. I would love to tell you where these fish were biting, but I just haven't had time to hit them also, i have some trips coming up this week, so hopefully get on some good bass before then!! Good luck and as always, feel free to call me if you need some help!!
  15. i just posted another spot on here then saw this. i will do the every other week on thur nights starting on april 28th... we got to get the word out to everyone asap so we got boats showing up. i need to also make sure i am not picking a day before perrys tournament, if so then we will change on the next tournament. but for the first one it will be april 28th, 2011, 6 pm, hartley boat ramp. \\Be There!!!
  16. I have had lots of phone calls and emails wantiung to do the thursday night tourny, so since i have a problem pronouncing no, i guess we will do it. instead of every week, we will be fishing every other week. I can stay with thursday evening (unless several of you must fish on tues.) we can take out of hartly which should help on some drive time for peep out of bolivar. I will get the details and get things going asap. We will fish the opposite week as perry's friday night tournaments. I will get that and check on it. Will be starting in the next month, probably april 28th. I will get the regattas permits and make sure we don't mess up perry's plans. Go ahead and start spreading the word and i will get all the details out so we can get this thing going again. Anyone that has any suggestions, email me at info@fishstocktonlake.com and we can discuss. spelling is horrible, it's late and i am tired. got to get them in the morning!! Good night!!
  17. Crappie fishing was awesome today. I had to go to the dentist, but my cousin had a limit in couple hours. Sorry you guys didn't get into them yesterday, but don't get discouraged, they are out there. If you get in the right place you will catch crappie. They are staging to spawn, so get in the right place and dinner is fresh fish.
  18. Water level is 868.12 Temp is 56-58 up the rivers, and about 52 on the main lake Clarity is normal to stained up the river, normal on the main lake Walleye-I have heard of some fish still hitting on main lake points using jerk baits, so if you are looking for some good walleye, the dam is the place to be still. A few fish are being caught up the rivers by crappie fisherman. I just had one tonight, for dinner!! Crappie are hitting, and doing pretty good up the river arms. The fish are still staging on channel drops. Use jigs and or minnows and concentrate on the edge of the river where the water comes up onto a flat, or where a channel swings in to a point. The evening bite seems to be a little stronger, but they are biting all day long. This time of year, the fish can move quickly from the the channel drop up to 3 or 4 foot of water. If they slow down on you, try moving a little shallower. Bass are fair to good, and if you get into the right area, you can get some really big fish. Use jigs or slow roll spinnerbaits along rocky banks in 6-12 foot of water. White bass can still be caught up the rivers, but have slown down, but if you enjoy the excitment of fighting the whites, get up there. Had some really nice fish today, but had to go way up the river to get them. Remember, water is still pretty cold, bring some dry clothes and wear that life jacket!! Feel free to call me if you have any questions.
  19. Water temp 57 up the rivers and 49 at the dam Lave level 869.77 +2.77 Clarity-muddy up the rivers and normal on the main lake Walleye are pretty much done with the spawn up the creek arms, but have been going strong on the main lake. Depending on the day depends on what you need to use. I have caught some on jerk baits, some on crankbaits, and some on jigs. As it gets darker in the evenings, move up and fish the edge of the brush. There are boats lined up on the banks and needless to say this is the area that you need to be fishing. I have thrown jerkbaits right in front of other people and they catch 3 or 4 and I catch 1 (which I guess is good on a guide trip) and then just the opposite later. If they won't attack the stick baits, then try something a little slower like a grub or jig. Crappie are hitting great along channel drops up the creeks, however this changes quickly with the numerous fronts that have come thru. We have caught crappie on every trip, but one day it is great, then a front pushes them back and slows them down. most of the fish are coming in 6-12 foot of water, but some have been in as little as 4 foot. The crappie are just waiting for some warm weather like the rest of us. I have been catching the majority of fish on 1/8 oz jigs and 2"grubs, but some of my customers have been using minnows and having luck. If you are fishing a post cold front, take both and slow it down. find some deep (or the deepest) water you can find in the area and fish that. the fish usually pull back and slow down a little after a front, but they will still bite. Don't let anyone tell you they dont feed for days following a front, just be ready to adjust to the conditions. White bass are still running up the creeks. They are probably about done, but they can still be caught. red and white 3" grubs work great, but if you get in the right area it really won't matter what color you throw. If it's a post front bite, be ready to switch it up, slow it down, and keep trying different areas. Bass have been fair on jigs and some spinnerbait bites up the river. Everyone I have talked to and everyplace that I have fished the jerkbait bite seems to be done (but don't cut it off yet) Bass are moving around alot and are on the prespawn banks and feeding before they move in. This is a great time of year to catch a really big female getting ready to spawn. Don't be afraid to release that monster bass and let her spawn, but if you can't make yourself, at least send me some pics!! Catfish are in the lake someplace. i heard of a guy that got one on a spinnerbait, but beyond that I don't know anything. Good luck, and remember, don't ever be ashamed to wear a life jacket!!
  20. looks like the time is finally here. went to the main lake to crappie fish on the 16th, and found that they had moved on. didn't get a bite. Had to go up the rivers to shallow water and fish channel drops in 10 foot of less. fishing was good, a little slow at times, but we caught the crappie. Whites were everywhere, and I heard of an occasional walleye that someone had hooked. The water temp up the river was 57 yesterday afternoon. water clarity was stained, but very fishable. Crappie are moving that way, and the bite should get better as we go along. you should be able to find the fish on your graphs, then just drop down to them!! Good luck and don't forget dry clothes. Don't want anyone skinny dipping (or in some cases chunky dunking) in the lake. Also, walleye are hitting jerkbaits, shad raps, and minnows on main lake points in and around the dam area. evening bite seems to be best, so give it a shot if you have time. great chance for big fish!! Give me a call, 417-637-2277 if you have any questions or before you head to the lake. I will try to help you out. Bob Stockton Lake Guide Service
  21. I use some lights int he summertime when I am bored and just wanting to get some fish in the freezer. Beats fishing in the heat of the day and works pretty good at bringing in the bait fish. Good luck!!
  22. SORRY ABOUT THE SLOW RESPONSE, GIVE ME A CALL AT 417-234-8988 AND WE CAN TALK ABOUT THE BEST TIME DEPENDING ON WHAT AND HOW BIG YOU ARE LOOKING FOR. BOB BENNETT STOCKTON LAKE GUIDE SERVICE
  23. YOU SHOULD FISH ALL OF THE TOURNAMNETS ON STOCKTON AND GUIDE!! I AIN'T GOOD ENOUGH TO CATCH A 9 LBR EVERYDAY, AND IT ISN'T BECAUSE I DON'T WANT TO. I DON'T SEE MANY SPAWNING BASS IN MARCH ON STOCKTON THOUGH, I THINK WE WOULD BE FINE HAVING THE TOURNAMENT THEN, UNLESS YOU HAVE SOME OTHER INFO THAT NEEDS TO BE CONSIDERED. LET ME KNOW WHAT YOU THINK ABOUT THE MARCH TOURNAMENT.
