  5. Hello Fellows, Well it's Spring and we all know that the fishing can change from one day to the next! Let's hear from you all about your last two days out. I need an update on all species before next week. We really appreciate you guys! petertherock P.S. Once again, bet you all that guide, are busy! Keep them clients comin', fish a jumpin',and bank accounts pumpin'! Thought you all would like that! (Seeing that Don & Bill are on this site right now, maybe you're not so busy, well for at least this morning!)
  6. Hey SKMO, Could you update this Upper Lake report? Need the information for next week, thanks! petertherock
  7. Hey Fellows, Same here, can you give me an updated White Bass report as of March 30th - TODAY! Thanks petertherock
  8. Hey Fellows, Could you give me an updated Crappie report as of March 30th - TODAY! Thanks, petertherock
  9. Hi Fellows, Right on Bill! Right on! The Rock is a wonderful fisherie, and if people would use their heads and common sense it can be here and produce great fishing until the Lord comes back! Amen! petertherock Hey Don, Bill, Pete or SKMO, What are the bitin' on at Beardsley today - March 30th! petertherock
  10. Hey Don, Where are you? I bet you're busy too with the guiding thing. When you guides are busy and catching a boat load of fish we know it, because you get quiet for a time! Please let us hear what's up! petertherock
  11. Hey Bill, Haven't gotten a report from you in while. I bet you been busy with the guiding thing! I would also guess you've been catching fish! Please share with us, what's up! petertherock
  12. Right On! I was a local for quite a few years before I moved away. I still have a family boat slip there and our family boat. Listen, man for more consistant numbers of fish in a 3.5 to 5lb. range, you gotta get small. Don't let all the locals fool you either, sometimes the word out on the street is actually a smokescreen for what they're really doing. The guys on this site, Phil Lilley, Bill Babler, Don House and SKMO, I believe can be trusted. Same old story though, when you find a pattern that consistantly scores you a boat load of fish stick to it, and that's no different on the Rock! petertherock P.S. When the tournament is over, let us know how you did and, where you did it and what pattern you used. The Rock is big enough, and the fish are plentiful, that sharing this information won't wipe you out for your next tournament. This is coming from a ex-tournament fishing officiando!
  13. Get Up In The Air, If we were flying over Indian Point in a helicopter or small plane, we would notice it looks very much like an Indian arrowhead sticking out into the lake. Well that's exactly how it got it's name and how you can indentify on a lake map, plus you'll see Big and Little Indian Creeks flowing along side of it with Coombs Ferry Penniseula straight across from it. It is where Silver Dollar City is located and now you can see the Buzz Saw Roller Coaster sticking up above the tree line on the point when approaching from the west, by lake. petertherock
  14. Gee, Golly, Wiz, Nobody's told you yet to skip the whole Branson Scene and make a well-worth the trip over to Shell Knob's Steak-In! petertherock
  15. Hey indyfisher, Don is right on! You'll be lucky to have any day without wind. Those baits under the conditions that Don described are the best this time of the year. I'm going to tell you to try an 1/8 oz. jighead with a 3 inch Bass Pro Shop Triple Ripple Tail grub in white. If you want other colors go smoke or chartreuse varieties. Stick by the white and you won't go wrong. Swim that puppy deliberately and slow, speedin up now and then but for the most part keepin' a steady slow retrieve. Then throw a jerkbait as well. Don't forget the Wiggle Wart in crawdad. I believe you sound as if you'll be fishing the area around Indian Point and the dam, and with these baits in your arsenal you won't go wrong. Just wave that big one at me when you land it! I'll be watching you with binoculars from my hacienda sitting high above on Eagle Ridge. petertherock
  16. Hey dougie815, That's why I posted my warning on lake levels. Not to scare you, but as you've just read it is a dangerous thing, just use your head. I know about those Indiana lakes drawned down to winter pool, I've fished them in the late fall and winter, and early spring, trust me they're nothing like the Rock. Invest in a good topo map - Structure Graphics is my favorite, look at normal pool and realize the current level - right now somewhere around 904.5! You got to be careful! Now all said, good fishing to you! petertherock
  17. Howdy, I figured the Hut was still there. But Steak Inn I knew was still there, but now you're talkin'. I would consider with your little boat makin'a trip down to the Roaring River or Eagle Rock area, either pulling it behind your cruiser or toting by vehicle. SKMO is on target too about Big Bay Campground. On the tackle side just go light meaning 6 - 8lb line, a good stiff but light spinning rod, and throw the grub or swimmin minnow. Try the old jerkbait as well(here you may want to go medium/light with a baitcaster, but no more than 10lb. line. Use flurocarbon line it's the best, second choice would be some green mono. Just think small but large, in other words most of the guys throw 1/4 oz. jig heads with their grubs, use 1/8 oz., fish it slower, swimmin' it and fish it more deliberately and you'll catch more fish! Fish the main and secondary points. You'll do alright if you just get your line in the water. Good fishin, petertherock
  18. Hey Hawg Hunter, It's petertherock!. Slammin man! Glad to hear you had some action around the dam area. That's really my home water, between Point #5 and the dam. It's good info to know as I will be bringing four guys down to the Rock next Sunday. It's the first time all four have been to Table Rock and I really would rather not have to run all the way up the James to Cape Fair or out to Shell Knob. Long Creek is not a bad run for me though. Say check out my post, posted about a week ago title something like Just Beyond Point 5 I included a map as an attachment. It's probably on page #2 by now. Since your tournament is almost over, tell me later if you covered this area and how well you did! I could of guessed you caught your fish on that jerk bait and a grub. That's all I use in that area at this time of the year. One exception, I use a 1/8 oz. jighead with a Bass Pro Triple Ripple Tail grub in white. I don't generally have to use any other color, and I slam the fish, especially the smallmouth at this time of the year. I like your choice of jerkbait and color. Sometimes I find that the Clown - color works best on bright sunny days, and the color you threw I use on overcast days. Stick to those main and secondary points. Since I'm comin' next week I would appreciate your heads up on that area, it's where my boat dock is! We will probably make the run to Shell Knob, Baxter or Lampe though one day for crappie, and the James, Kings, or Long for whites. Thanks for the info, good fishing! petertherock
  19. Hey Roy Great story don't know if it beats my whooping crane story though! petertherock
  20. Hey Fellows, Can't anybody beat my whooping crane story! I posted it so that we might hear from the rest of you, your own funny fishing stories that have taken place on the Rock! C'mon tell us a good one! petertherock P.S. Gotta go, these late nights on this site are killing me! Just making me more anxious for the time I'll spend there this season! So goodnight, I'll land a big hawg in my dreams!
  21. lilley, I may bring my guest, over to the river the week of April 2 - 8 to add a little spice into their trip with some trout fishing! How about a brief report here on the fishing there! Tantalize these bass fisherman over here! I know we can log on under Taneycomo, just tell us here has it been good? petertherock
  22. Tom, Go with the Lund, unless you don't want to cover a big area of water. But, you need to catch some fish and have some fun, and learn the lake too (since it's your first time)! petertherock
  23. Good Advice from SKMO, Right on information! I'm still going to put Mike Fischer's name out there. Don't know if he's still in the phone book? But, Mike lives in Galena, has a daughter that teaches at ReedsSprings Middle School, his wife Myrna, is always about town. Mike is probably one of the best local yocals on white bass fishing there is. That's all the guy does is fish for whites up on the James; except when he's frying suckers in the winter for locals up in Galena, (during gigging season). If you don't mind getting out at 12:00 midnight, in the cold of winter, the sucker fry is great! See if you can get a hold of him and shake him down for his info. I will tell you sometimes he's tight lipped though, especially when the fishing is on! petertherock
  24. Roy, Follow Don's advice. The Mid-Lake area from Kimberling to the dam is my main water to fish. It's too early yet though. We need to see a couple more to three weeks of consistant warm weather for it to really turn on. You're going to have to make a run my friend and Shell Knob or up the James would be your best bet. Just be careful, read my post from March 20th about the low lake level! petertherock
  25. Fellows, I don't know if they're still there but the Old Sinclair Station up at Crossroads between Cape Fair & Galena just past Walnut Springs had boat-loads of the swimmin minnows, in numerous colors. The owner was also tying his own custom Roadrunner jigs in a variety of colors for the white bass run up the James. The last time I was there though was five years ago! It might be worth checkin' out though! If they're still in business. I know doggone area has changed much in five years! petertherock
