Is this it???? Description Winner of the 2007 Catch Of the Year Best New Product - Swimbait Category from ProBassAnglers.com!! From ProBassAnglers: "Oh my...." rarely does a lure take your breath away, but the new Tru-Life Swimbaits from Tru-Tungsten will blow you away. Designed by Western anglers Matt Newman and Ish Monroe, the lures are the new age of swim baits. Actually three baits in one, the Tru-Life baits can be fished on the surface, mid depth range or in deep water. The lures come with "tungsten balls" that can be added or subtracted depending on the fall speed that you are looking for. The price point, $69.00 for the large trout, will take your breath away, however, if you consider that buying one Tru-Life bait takes the place of buying three different swim baits, the price seems to make sense. The most dramatic part of the lure, however, is the action. The bait can be burned without hurting its action. Also, burning the bait and then stopping the bait causes the lure to change profile, as the head of the trout turns backward, as though it were looking to see if it was still being chased. The turn to a head first profile, back in that bass' face, is what will trigger followers to become strikers. This is a very cool bait. Specifications-Hard plastic, incredible detail in the finish. The bait is available in a large trout, a smaller trout and an adult bluegill. The lure cavity may be opened to add or subtract tungsten balls which change the fall speed of the lure.

my guess would be a deep diving crankbait like a Manns 20 +. They can wear you out in a hurry, and they do catch big fish I know!

Bill, you pulling our leg? The shoe?

Tom, those electronics you mentioned should do the trick. If you mark fish throw out a marker buoy. Or do like me since my front locater isnt working, have the guy in the back of the boat keep watch on it. You wont be able to see your bait on those locaters, but who cares. Or better yet hire Bill or Don for a day, they are the best locaters I know of. then go back and fish there spots for the rest of your trip. Money well spent. I am sure Don or Bill has better advise , but thats my two cents. Another tip i have found, after the spawn about 50% of the docks will hold fish, and at normal pool the fronts of them are best if they have 20 + water in front of them. Thats just my style though love the docks. Idle buoys hold fish too check them out.

If all you have is a flasher unit you can still locate fish with it. Set it for a double echo, by that I mean if you are in 30ft of water set the sensitivity to read 60 ft. The flashes you see between 30- 60 are fish. Thats how I used to find them until they came out with a paper graph.

As I read through all the posts it dawned on me: what a powerful forum we have here, We have people from all walks of life here, and fishing binds us all together. We as a group could set political agendas, help our neighbors, help the enviroment , ect. I personally know none of you, but feel a kinship to all of you. Some say Jesus taught us to fish, some say we evolved from fish. Theres a connection there some way.

I think Bill may just be right. Big uns though.

I thought they were them, still coulda been but no bites. My son said" I told you we shoulda brought minnows!

Ran down to long creek this morning. Fished where I thought they should be and where I didnt think they would be. Not a bite. Found lots of fish stacked up behind the first row of trees 7- 10 ft. Thought that was them but no takers. I give. Went back to the Indians and jerled up a few drop shot fish 20 - 30 ft all short. Wasnt a good day for me and it was a little chilly this am. Some of the points were a little crowded but just bulled in there with the rest of them. Plenty of water for all.

I have had good luck with Trojan batteries, a bit pricey but I think worth it.

I dont know the answer to all these questions, but I do believe if we regulate too much that some left wing nuts will jump on the band wagon. Yes there ae groups that would love to ban fishing alltogether. I would hate to impose more regulations that would add fuel to their fires. Just have to be careful what we ask for, it might come back and bite us in the butt.

Just got this email from my Uncle. Guess the camping is closed for the season. Had a call from the camping reservation folks…………Mill Creek is closed for the entire season this year. Guess they figure it will be a while before the water goes down and then they will have clean-up and repair issues to deal with after that.

I was curious and googled these formulas. To convert cfs to gallons per second : 28000 cfs x 7.48 =209,440 gallons a second. 209440 x 60 =12,566,400 gallons a minute. 12,566,400 x 60 = gallons per hour, my caculater wont go that high! Thats alot of water. That woulds supply water needs for roughly 1300 homes for a month ever minute. You can do the math for when they really had it cranked up, my head is swimming.

It will be high into June and July.

Preventing Freezer Burn
denjac replied to 4fishys's topic in Tips & Tricks, Boat Help and Product Review
I knew a guy that cut out the top of milk jugs. He would throw what fillets he had and cover with water and freeze. When he had more he threw them on top of the others covered with water and back in the freezer. Did that untill he filled it up. Fish fry in a jug! -
Bill, I believe the article was a genralization or the extreme to make it more facinating. Thanks for the correction. I bet there is a growth differance between northern missouri and southern missouri.

Southern Charm Two nicely dressed ladies happened to start up a conversation during an endless wait in the LAX airport. The first lady was an arrogant California woman married to a wealthy man. The second was a well mannered elderly woman from the South. When the conversation centered on whether they had any children, the California woman started by saying, 'When my first child was born, my hus band built a beautiful mansion for me.' The lady from the South commented, 'Well, isn't that precious?' The first woman continued, 'When my second child was born, my husband bought me a beautiful Mercedes-Benz.' Again, the lady from the South commented, 'Well, isn't that precious?' The first woman continued boasting, 'Then, when my third child was born, my husband bought me this exquisite diamond bracelet.' Yet again, the Southern lady commented, 'Well, isn't that precious?' The first woman then asked her companion, 'What did your husband buy for you when you had your first child?' 'My husband sent me to charm school,' declared the Southern lady. 'Charm school?' the first woman cried, 'Oh, my God! What on earth for?' The Southern lady responded, 'Well for example, instead of saying 'Who gives a dung?' I learned to say, 'Well, isn't that precious.'

Might be a blessing in disguise. Will keep the bed jerkers from doing there thing. Makes me want to throw bunch of constina wire in the water on the cleared off pea gravel banks that everyone is pounding. And the little babies will have plenty of cover to hide in. Might be the biggest spawn the rock has ever had! I inserted some info on the spawn for black and smallies. Smallies: Spawning occurs in the spring when water temperatures approach 60°F. Males move into spawning areas with the nests usually located near shore in lakes; downstream from boulders or some other obstruction that offers protection against strong current in streams. Mature females may contain 2,000 to 15,000 golden yellow eggs. Males may spawn with several females on a single nest. On average each nest contains about 2,500 eggs, but nests may contain as many as 10,000 eggs. Eggs hatch in about 10 days if water temperatures are in the mid-50s, but can hatch in 2 to 3 days if temperatures are in the mid-70s. Males guard the nest from the time eggs are laid until fry begin to disperse, a period of up to a month. Fry begin feeding on zooplankton, switching to insect larvae and finally fish and crayfish as they grow. Black:Largemouth bass spawn as early as March or as late as June. The males build saucer shaped nests 20 to 30 inches in diameter and guard the nest and eggs from all intruders. Largemouth bass grow 4 to 6 inches during their first year, 8 to 12 inches in two years, and up to 16 inches in three years. Largemouth bass may live for 13 years.

The two dealers I have talked to were in Missouri. Is there better deals south?
-
I have been shopping for a new bass boat. The dealers give me a price and thats it, non negotiable. Has anybody else had this set in stone policy? How much off the qouted price should I be able to go to get one? I think 10% off what they quote me is a fair offer, but they wont budge. Guess they dont want to sell boats! Any impute would be greatly appreciated. Oh buy th way I am looking at Champ and bass cat.

Phil, I have thrown the grub all over the place. Just me I guess, not at the right place at the right time. You need to hop over here and and experiance this high water. I am over the shock of it and kinda wish it would stay that way now. Dam area was a little bit cloudy yesterday with lots of floaters, saw one the size of a telephone pole floating out of the Indians.
-
Got out late this morning around 10:00. Looking for a SM bite but didnt find one. Went to the back of a creek in the Dam area and found some whites. Had to fish for them like LM, looking for the open spots in the brush and trees that I could take a shot to the bank. They were from 3 -5 ft off the bank. Ended up with 10. Better than a poke in the eye but am frustrated that I can get the smallie bite. The one in the picture looks like a dink, but from the front of my reel to the first guide is 17 inches. I measured it after I got home as the picture didnt show his size well.
