  1. Went to Cape Fair Saturday to see if we could catch some crappie. We put in by the bridge and fished from 8:00 to 4:00. The water temp was almost 49 when we pulled out. We just fished jigs in 28-35 ft. We managed to get 12 keepers. There were alot of boats out. The weather was just beautiful. Can't wait to try it again.
  2. Thanks.
  3. I am going to fish the March BFL on LOTO as a co-angler and would like to get some suggestions as to what 5 rods or setups you would take for that time of year. Thanks in advance
  4. The last time I was on the Kings the temp was still in the low 40's. But nothing above 43. That was almost two weeks ago.
  5. I was able to get out for a couple of hours last Tuesday before the wind, rain, thunder and lightning ran me off of the lake. I was able to find one short fish in about 20-25 ft. On a shaky head with a 6" worm. I am now writing the weekly report for the Shell Knob Rattler and the Chamber of Commerce site.Shell Knob Chamber site I will try to post my results here as often as possible(every week). If you are in the Shell Knob area, drop by Lakeside Marine just south of the bridge for drinks, ice, Ethanol free gas for your boat, or just to say "hi". Good luck out there and practice catch and release. Dennis Hamer
  6. I hear alot of people throwing spoons. I do not own any and want to give it a try. What are some basic colors, weights and brands of spoons to get started with? Thanks in advance. Dennis
  7. Vonreed, I would suggest you check with the tournament orgs before you start pointing the finger at tournament anglers. I have fished tournaments for several years and have only had two maybe three fish die in my livewell due to the fish swallowing the hook.
  8. Try Sport Boats USA in Shell Knob on highway 39.
  9. I went out from the Shell Knob bridge yesterday to try some different things, so I was not expecting alot. I started out within view of the bridge throwing a jig on rock bluffs and could not get bit. I then moved to a new spot going towards Campbell Point and threw a super spook and a spinner bait. The ony keeper and only fish of the day came on the spinner after the wind picked up on a point. After seeing more fish down below I probably wasted 45 minutes trying to get another keeper from that same point. I then moved to the back side of Campbell Point and went to another new spot for me and I could see some decent keepers near a ledge and a tree and tried to catch them using a drop-shot rig but to no avail. I did manage to witness two of the fish do the dance. What an awesome sight. Like I stated at the beginning I was trying some different things and went looking for some new spots, so at the the end of the day I was not disappointed. Going out again today.
  10. White Triton with a green stripe.
  11. I went out yesterday afternoon around 3pm and launched at the 39 bridge and proceeded to Campbell point and could not get bit. So, I went back to within a 1/2 mile from the bridge and picked up 3 quick keepers on a 3/8 oz white and blue spinner bait. I saw some fish chasing shad, so I picked up my super spook in shad color and picked up 2 more keepers and one short fish. I kept the boat in about 20 ft. I was suprised these fish were still so active after the cold snap these past several days. Good luck out there.
  12. Went out yesterday with my neighbor at 3:00 to see what we could find. We just stayed in eye sight of the Shell Knob bridge. For the first we tried to catch some LM but no luck. Then we started chasing the boils around the deeper docks and started catching white bass from 2-4 lbs. I was just throwing a chartreuse and white 1/4 oz spinner bait. When we decided to quit we had caught 4 nice one weighing probabaly 12-15 lbs.
  13. I stayed close to the bridge and stayed about a cast and a half off the bank. Picked up the fish on a 1/2 oz spinnerbait slow rolled it back to the boat, hit it right after the bait came off of a branch of a submerged tree. The fish took the bait in about 25 ft of water.
  14. I went out from Shell Knob yesterday to try the advice given me by Bill B. and others. I finally got my first Table Rock bass. Not a keeper but I did manage to get one. It felt great to finally get that first bite. Thanks to all that gave advice.
  15. Went out again Saturday after the fog lifted. Still nada. Tried a few places someone told me about but I did not get touched. I am frustrated at best, but will keep trying. Going out again on Wednesday if I can get my honeydo's finished.
  16. Going to try again Saturday. Not giving up yet ( haha). Anyone interested in a backseat give me a call on my cell 417-342-5174. Thanks
  17. I went out yesterday starting at 7:00 for about 4 hours and could not get bit. This was my second trip on the lake since I moved here and I have been skunked both times. I have tried cranks, jerkbaits, jigs and darter heads. Any advice wouldbe helpful. Thanks Dennis
  18. I have an open seat on my boat March 7th for some bass fishing. If interested call my cell (417) 342-5174. Thanks
  19. Myself, I like to use a 4 or 6 inch worn on a 1/8 oz darterhead or /16 roundhead. Although I will try a c tail or twin tail grub on occasion. Trying my luck again tomorrow. This will be my second trip on the lake. I have yet to get bit. HAHA.
  20. We live just off of Highway YY in Crestwood West.
  21. We finally made it to our home in Shell Knob. It took us six days to make it here but we made it. We had to stop in Gallup, NM to have the altenator and water pump replaced in the RV. We got to the house on Thursday Feb 9. It has been an adventure since we moved in. On Friday the septic system backed up into the basement (what fun that was), Then we found that both the fireplace insert and the wood stove in the basement were not installed properly and run the risk of a major fire if used. Here is the up side. We have been able to tear out the carpet in the two upstairs bedrooms and hallway and replace it with laminate flooring. Our household goods arrived in great condition and we were able to find three young kids to help us unload the trailer. I am happy to finally be here and to enjoy the view of the lake every day while I enjoy my coffee. Now i just need to unpack all of the boxes that are surrounding my boat and get on the water. Looking forward to meeting some of the forum members either on the water (look for the white Triton with the green stripe) or here in town.
  22. I will be living about a mile or so from the bridge.
  23. In your opinion what is the best cell provider for Table Rock area. Thanks in advance
  24. Our house has sold and we have made an offer on a house in SK that has been accepted. If everything goes right we should be in the house by the second week in February. Can you say early retirement? LOL
  25. I will be in Kimberling City in May and would like to get out at least one day while there. I am from California and will not have any of my own tackle or rods with me. I would like to hook up with someone from the area to show me the lake. Thanks in advance
