Those of you who were out Sunday got cleared off the upper end by a " ghost " horn. At 7:40am a short horn was sounded followed by nothing - zero water released. The operator was condensing a unit - spinning with water with no release - but the horn automatically triggered. Go figure.

Lake level immediately below dam

Frustrating - it could be done more accurately... and with less human interaction... Nobody of any importance cares anyways. -

Lake level immediately below dam
Brian K. Shaffer replied to Brian K. Shaffer's topic in Upper Lake Taneycomo
At 5pm - the water has been turned on - the numbers show it - but the flow stays at 20 ? What on earth ? -
Why did the lake level below the dam go from 701.3 to 702.5 ? With the 20 cubic feet per second flow provided by the in house unit - That gives us 20 cubic feet per second flow total when not generating. Not 1000 or 200.... twenty. This causes a back up - a back flow situation in the lake which has become more noticeable with this newer raised lake level. Losing flow is beneficial to nothing and no one.

The most fun thing to do while you are here : 1. Flip over some rocks and look at some scuds / sowbugs. Which are there more of shown below ? 2. Look at the color of the bug each and every day - because the colors change with the life style... or life cycle. Ha Ha!

Birds on the Taneycomo River
Brian K. Shaffer replied to Brian K. Shaffer's topic in Upper Lake Taneycomo
They are an everyday January occurrence on the Taneycomo river... we are so lucky... Hilarious Seth! Being color blind... birding colors are not easy for me, however, nothing is as striking to me as a red cardinal. I do see them if the light is right. -
All kinds of birds... Eagles are majestic - those white birds are a nuisance - but the herons are just mystical... Bird Up! What's your favorite Taneycomo bird ?
