  1. Moderator - move this to the rods reels section ? no ?
  2. You mentioned flies, and as you know a picture speaks a thousand words, so .... what have you got to offer ?
  3. Thats classic "bored fly fisherman". Thats what that is right there. Where is the net ? Great Job!
  4. Sold my 2nd line - for just $50. Thanks again fellas!
  5. What did that fish eat ??? (in the picture that says look what he ate)
  6. i would like to catch one of the 6 goldens that were released into Taneycomo this past week.
  7. My opinion as to why you werent getting bit is the flow - or lack thereof. Were you finding that the fly was sinking rather quick.. sometimes even hanging up ? If you were casting towards the car lot from the opposite side of the bank.. you have to really watch the fish and where they are holding / feeding. Stripping a soft hackle is good to do there.. quarter casting downstream and stripping at an angle.
  8. I would use one of 2 patterns. Either a Chuck's emerger... or a JoeBob's emeger. Known as 'The Old Man of the Norfork River', Chuck Davidsons pattern is legendary... and the JoeBob is just a variation. 2 of the deadliest patterns on the Norfork for over 25 years. Size 18. Blue Ribbon Flies sells both. ( I took a 12lb rainbow on the White in the RV park on a JoeBob's fished with a tiny shot )
  9. That's the wrong link I believe troutfiend. I did an eBay search, an amazon search and an abebooks.com search. Cheapest is $37 thru abe.
  10. I would check my copy of Ozark Trout Tales I bought in 1995... but I loaned it out sometime in 2000 and never got it back. It was signed too. From what I understand.. they are hard to come by now. Just my luck.
  11. I would suggest you stay away from neoprene as well. Once breathables hit the scene.. they have all but taken over in even some terribly frigid areas. Just watch for good taped feet. I always liked the tape Simms used and found out why. It outlasts others. I think they use Goodyear welted tape on the better models. Worth every penny.
  12. Didnt they go from running a medium 2 units to a low 3 ? So it will not be running hard. I was wrong. Thank goodness.
  13. Doesnt he have a brother ? And if I remember correctly, they had a guide service ?
  14. Those look nutritious and delicious! Nicely done
  15. LL Bean has the same lifetime warranty. I got a tip fixed on a rod for free that I bought in 1998. I bought their bootfoot hippers for $49... which is a steal of a deal!
  16. Maybe cause today was a holiday and they weren't in the office ?
  17. Thats exaclty how my Pflueger Gem is. It is in the pictures with a thumbscrew where the sliding horeshoe latch should be.
  18. Nice pics of the SJ Tim. Also, where'd you catch the bonefish? And the snapper.. is that a mutton ? And those pics of your ATH reels just kills me.
  19. Check the Taneycomo section and the link provided - the most recent post I believe answers your question in great detail.
  20. Also - are you looking for the 6 rivets, or 3 ?
  21. My advice - go for Bass Pro's stockingfoot waders and boots. They have some new and very current looking designs and stand behind them well. You can get the pants versions of waders and boots for just shy of what you are looking to spend. But if you really plan on hitting them streams hard - you might want to jump into a pair of Simms stockingfoot waders. The feet are made better and the seams will not be as prone to leakage with prolonged use. Make sure to look up the rods/reels/wader section of this page for more and maybe better advice! Good luck - and let us know what you decide.
  22. Darren - at least you are not using a Lowrance Fathometer.... Sorry the picture is blurry... its from a Nov/Dec 1970 copy of Fishing World magazine. The caption reads "Carl Lowrance used his famous fathometer to gather this mixed bag of bass and crappie."
  23. Any price range ? I have several.
  24. You can also use the magnet once attached to the net to pick up a fly you may have dropped. I have done that a hundred times in the parking lot at Taneycomo... pays itself off instantly! Good looks and function!
