  10. I believe you have to really cast a bunch for this Gpattern too, from what I have been told. You gotta get a bunch of the little G bugs to crawl up and out of thier homes for this pattern to work to its full effectiveness. They like being slowly worked too.. in fact.. they like a little .. Forget it. Brian
  11. Sadly - Dave Male let me know my rod is short about an inch on the butt and had a replaced tip-top. He did say the exact well finished ferrule replaced certainly made a speed to the rod it didnt have before... which he liked while lawn casting the rod on Thursday, but I am a little dishearting to know I bought a rod for not quite full traditonal price. ( the previous seller probably didnt know anytyhing was wrong as it is kind of hard to tell, especially on such a short rod ) Dave Male also mentioned the tips had their own distinct action.. and could be told by the tipping wraps on the tips themselves.. as each tip had its own colored wrap, one used moreso than the other. So with some coaxing, Dave elected to re-wrap one in chrome so I could recognize the fastest tip of the 2. I will get back a great rod, a rod to hold onto for years. I learned a lot more from sending it back to the original maker, things I would have never known this rod at all without his help. Thank you, Dave Male. You make a great cane rod.. as the makers of bamboo fly rods from old.. you still got it, and you pull no punches. I would recommend your rods to everyone, because you make them great from start to finish. And you love what you do, your work.. your craft. And you stand behind what you do. cheers - Brian
  12. Godd to see some of them guys .. especially Tiny from Dorber. ( And I think you are right - Harry Boyd is always smiling. ) best fishes - Brian
  13. Phil - what if you could, instead of having the new registering user just click on - OK, I agree - have that spot instead be a ramdon question that is one of the 4 suggestions they just read... or didnt read. So they gotta go back and read at least one or 2 of them just to move on. Just an idea - Brian
  14. Morels that is.. Missouri Gold~! Soak for an hour, pan seared in a cracker blanket with a little olive oil & salt and pepper. Add a good steak and baked tater. Priceless! That's good eating! Missouri Morels cheers - Brian

  17. The same golf course bass pond Phil and I fished a few years back, I had a bluegill hooked on a popper that got swallowed up by a big 4-5lb bass.. so I was hooked to the bluegill that had eaten my fly / then attached to a bass who was wanting my bluegill. I fought the pair for quite a few seconds, and under the pressure - the bass let go and my bluegill was then flung behind me. So I did what any fisherman normally does : I flipped it over my shoulder right back out to where the commotion just took place. You guessed it! The bass hit the bluegill again and the fight was on. This time the bass let go a little sooner, but it was the craziest thing I had seen in a while. Ah, memories... - Brian
  18. Guys - but the Bay is full of them now. Lower prices on what is truly a great casting rod. 'Tis a shame the rod companies do this to themselves. best of luck to em all - Brian ( TFO aint losing any sales by the way )
  19. I bought my first real good cane rod a month or so back.. and posted a few pics on the Classic Fly Rod Forum. From there - the maker himself, Dave Male who is 80 years old, responded for me to send the rod to him. For free he elected to do a makeover on the rod.. fixing anything AND everything. This is the before pic - I am waiting on the after : I will post the after pictures when Dave sends the rod back. screaming reels - Brian
  20. Are they the photocromatic copper lenses ? (not silver creek) The ones that automatically lighten and darken ? Might know someone interested. At $160 retail this is a dealio! best fishes - Brian

  23. Where you least expect to catch that 9 pounder - that is where you WILL catch that 9 pounder. Meaning fish it all.. fish it good (not fast), and fish thorough. Do not leave anything unfished... make tracks.. but keep a good watch on you're elctronics. Something deep on the still banks.. a shallow running crankbait on the choppy banks.. and a tube for GITZIT fishing if all else fails. And most importantly - have at least 5 rigged rods at the ready - Brian ( .. like I bass fish.. this is TV advice!! )
  24. Phil - Don't most of these new ideas come from money ? It takes money to make money. This is " new " money with " new " directions. Do I agree.. I don't know.. but there aint no stopping it. it's the american way best fishes - Brian
  25. I saw what looked like a twin hulled cigarette boat on Taney downtown about 2 weeks ago. It was screaming around .. speeding like something you have never seen before. Probably 35 feet long.. it was really odd. best fishes - Brian
