Good Gosh.

Wayne, that is simply not even going to think about happening. Mow grass, pickup trash and oversee the park for electricity and water? Where do I sign up? Kids around here want between 20 and 30 dollars an hour to mow grass. If they don't get it from you they get it from your neighbor. To ask adults to manage a Corp park and do maintenance for electricity and found, would not have happened 30 yrs. ago, let alone today. Very rarely do I see more than a truck or two at the most at Joe Bald. Mostly dock builders. Yes maybe that would be the deal. Charge them a fee to build docks there and see what happens. It has just gotten to expensive to maintain everything.
-
From what I am hearing its people using it dumping trash. Yes it costs something to pick it up. Don/t think they are to concerned about the fee out there. I know there has been complaints of hunting on the park along with picking up quite a bit of sacks of trash, and of course folks using the launching ramp sometimes have nature call and have to use a tree. Then there is that. Joe Bald would get way less use either than Coombs or for that mater the park they closed up the Kings River, near Sweetwater Got a real feeling Viney had better watch out.

That would be a Great Big Plus 1. I know he loves topwater bass, but just the shear amount of hours he spends looking at his electronics and researching Table Rock Lake Walleye is without equal. I truly believe they are his favorite and the proof is in the numbers. To say to forget anything he says is like saying Carols Santana can't play a guitar. Better take heed. Good Luck

For me and I cannot speak for RPS the way I fish the spoon it is very hard to keep a crawler on it. I personally lower it either to the bottom or thru the fish and then elevate it with a swift jerk about head high. I then follow the line back to the desired depth, I usually don't let it fall on a completely slack line, but some do. Maybe these guys can remember but I can't how many walleye my clients caught last August thru September on a Cabela's jigging spoon, but the numbers were very impressive. 90 +% released back for your pleasure. RPS, Powerdive and others here are way better than I, but I will fish that spoon everyday at some point, now thru October. As far as Fishing Crawlers on main lake roll-offs and flats, that might have been done here a time or two. "Ya Think." Good Luck

If I can remember I think that XRI likes her sauce a little spicier. Probably a good shot of 91 would make her purr. in 1995 I was running an Evinrude.. I bet Wrench knows for sure -
Correct name for that Cabela's spoon is a Realimage Jig-n-spoon. Best colors are Chartreuse Shad, Pearl and Glow. All are the complete bomb for walleye and bass here. It now has a very nice hook, but I usually put a death trap on it.
-
Quick note on the walleye, if you are passing up a rainy weekend for a nice hot sunny weekend, you are probably more than missing the bet. Walleye like our Smallmouth here like it nasty and the nastier the better. If you are good with your electronics, that jigging spoon will catch as many walleye here as any bait that fishes the lake. Especially now. Both bass and walleye are really keyed in on an extremely huge hatch of threadfin shad. I'm using a 1/2 OZ. Cabelas spittin image spoon. I have yet to find a better one. The bass are also on it. If you are to target walleye, I would perhaps start a little farther up stream than Moonshine. Put in a Campbell Point or Shell Knob and work the flat roll-offs where the long points or the inside bend channel swings drop into the channel. Start at 24ft. and follow the fish or the bait. You see a bunch of shad in the entire water column and you are in the right location. Night Crawlers, and Shiner minnows are also good fodder. Good Luck

Don't believe you will ever be sorry. As has been stated the perfect fuel is 87 OCt. no E. Cannot get it in Missouri or it is hard to find. Danny said the E. really does not come into play. Merc. is covering there bases with the no E. -
Bo, that is probably just about right on. I have been up there the last couple of days before today and as you said and as I posted there were bass from topwater to 50' Buddy of mine guided Eagle Rock today and had 4 Big Walleye and about a dozen bass. Most of the bass were on a jig and the walleye came on a drop shot with a plastic worm. Of course he was targeting bass when he caught the Walters, but who gives a flip. Eye's are eye's no matter how you poke em. For RPS the walleye were at 42' on the bottom. I believe he just kept following the bait and the fish out. In the channel, not on a break. The water up the White is abit cooler than down on the dam end. Water up the White is running 81ish. and the water from Baxter to the dam is in the mid 80's. Bite is much better from Campbell Point to Holiday Island. Surprise, surprise. KC to Long Creek, best fishing is suspended in and above the deep trees. White River fish are in some of those locations, but for the most part we still have a roll-off, a bluff end bite and a ridge bite, along with a scattering of topwater fish here and there. Guys I am using my eyes to see the fish as much as anything. Both days this last week when I was on the White I saw boats drive right by fish chasing shad on the surface. I stopped and caught them. Most were LM, nothing over 3 pounds, but in August I'll take every fish I can catch. Don't care who you are or how long you have fished. You see fish chasing on Table Rock you had better make every effort to catch them. You just never know. Good Luck

Nice Report Thanks. Don't know why that Gal at Cape Fair Marina quit doing the reports. She was doing a very nice job. Glad you have taken over up there. It keeps us intune

Just got off the phone with Danny Vasques. Probably the top Mercury tech. in the Mid-West. All of the ProXS Merc's and Verdo's are set to run on 87 O. Use 2 oz. merc. quick clean per 25 gal of gas and that is exactly what those engines are designed to use. Absolute nothing more and nothing less. He said if your feeding those big blocks either 2 or 4 stroke Merc's anything else you are going against Mercury's recommendations. It is time to move into the real world as has been mentioned by FishinWrnech. You all stay away from the 91 and 93 OCt. It is doing nothing for you other than costing you money. -
Looks like we may be able to put a jag together. Good Luck

Quill as much as you use your boat, I don't believe storage or separation is an issue. I have ran 87 since O7 probably about 1500 hrs. without any type of fuel related problems. I do use a mercury additive of one oz. per tank and my fuel system has been without fail. That is going on 7 yrs. now. Knock on wood. -

Quill any particular reason you are using non-e or a high octane? I have been told specifically by Merc that my last 3 250ProXs motors have the computer tuned to burn and uee 87 octane blend with ethanol. With the way the motors are tuned and the computers set there is no either fuel enhancement or longevity issue with the 87 oct. As a matter a fact they have a bulletin I believe about the higher octane. This is for Mercury engines 2009 and newer. Just wondering. -
I don't care who you are, "That's Funny."

I for sure agree on the under 4000 rpm deal. You start pushing those big blocks on the bigger boats and you pay for that amount of luxury. Really counting your travel the $120.00 does not seem bad at all. July cost for fuel for me and I guided 32 trips counting the truck fuel and oil was $2,065.92 I keep perfect records for tax purposes and that worked out just in fuel to $64.56 per trip. IT also took me just a shade under $600.00 for bait and tackle for July. That is hard out of pocket cost, of about 85 bucks per launch. That is the highest amount of overhead of any month I have guided in my entire career. That is why I was wondering abit on how much just the fun fishing was costing you all. -
See what I'm sayin. He has just gotten out of control. I'll have to put in the Disanti and the Sparkling Water to keep is lips from parching. May have to hire a rod bearer to change his baits and keep a fresh stick in his hands at all time. If its hot I'll also have to have a Hula Gal fan him. Ah! Life when your friends are the rich and famous. He is my buddy, so I will accept his high handedness. Good Luck

Fuel Cost Just How Much Money Are You Locals Spending?

Just kind of interested in how much you all are spending on each outing this Summer. There are a lot of locals that not only pull their boats but fish most everyday. Lots also that hit it every weekend. What is it running you all per outing, or do you just not want to know. Figure gas and oil for the boat and also gas for the truck to get to and from. Give us a shout if you dare and lets compare. -
Ya I just looked at the Big M deal, and from what I read, it opens at 11 AM. Thursday thru Monday. They are advertising they have the best steaks in the Table Rock lake area. I'm for sure not above a good Ribeye for lunch. Be fun to put it together. James, I may have to lift the ban on Denny for a day. I'll have to drag him with me, as he neither likes to fish or eat steak. He and Jackie are strictly Oysters on the Half Shell and Tall Drink people. Kind of getting a little Snooty if you know what I mean, New Truck, New Boat and all. I'll make him drag a jig out of the back of the boat. That should put him back in his place. Be fun. Don't know how late in the season they will be open, but we will get this put together. Good Luck

Quill I saw you and was gona howdy, but the youngster was starting to move past medium well to well done. We had continued to dose him with WD100 very similar to sunblock 100, but it was doing no good in that high humidity flat out terribly hot beating down sun with no breeze what so ever. I could ring my shirt out it was so hot. Boys, when it gets like that be sure to drink plenty of water. I paid for it a week ago with some severe stomach problem and a bout with dehydration. IF you start to gag on so much water, put Crystal Lite in it and it makes it somewhat tolerable. I am driving that new 2014 921 in White and Black/Red. It is quite a boat. Got a total of 6 hrs. on it so far. Those fish yesterday were a caution. Beck reported it was a bear at mid-lake and his only deal was topwater fish over deep trees early and then a crawler in the trees. Nothing, not a bite on any roll-off or flat stuff. All his fish were suspended deep. Guys, the way I have been findin fish to just drive until I see either shad or topwater fish. Seems if you can spot them early, you can stay with them. They just tend to move deep or suspend. It does however take a commitment to the gas tank. You launch at Viney Creek and run to Shell Knob and then back to Eagle Rock and that is a pretty big 4 hrs. If you figure oil, that is probably going to be a 30 to 40 dollar gold piece, depending on how hard you hit it. We fished 6 locations in 4 hrs. and 30 minutes yesterday. When we arrived on each location, we immediately got bite. Most times it was quick and we would catch all we were going to catch fast. That is about 45 minutes per, counting travel time, and I did travel yesterday. My first stop was by far our best with the great topwater action. These fish right now are not ganged up. Yes I did hit it just right on the first spot, but mostly you would see only one or two blowups, not schools by any means. Just one here and one 200 yrds. down the lake our out in the middle in 150' of water. One thing though, you see one blow up and you are gong to catch him. They were very aggressive on the wakebait. If they would miss it they would stay with the chore till it was done and come to the boat. Maybe in a week or so all us River Rats can have breakfast over at Big M if its open after the early bite and cry about the wake boats and how slow it is. Lets keep it in mind. Would be a fun Howdy. Good Luck

Saw all of you birds up there fishing on my junk. You all got up early and beat us out. Yesterday was a very strange day all over the lake. Bite in the dam area was reported as very dismal. Guides were having an extremely hard time getting bit, even on crawlers. Lots of fish on the screens, but lots, and lots of refusals. I had a just turned 6 yr. old and his Papa, and launched at the back ramp at Viney at 0630. You River Rats were already on the good stuff between there and Carter, so I headed for the Knob. I just get lucky on the White River most of the time and it happened again yesterday. Rounded the point at San Succi and they were working that flat pointed cove really hard. We attacked them with the fin and had 6 very nice LM and 4 K's on the wakebait. All 6 of the LM were nice keepers and 2 of the K's. I worked that location hard with a dropshot for Luke my 6 yr. old, but we only had 4, all short. The fish yesterday were all over the water column, from the surface to 50', but the down fish just were not taking either a crawler or a dropshot worm. Fish started up again just on the next flat. Shell Knob locals call it Wood Duck. We had 3 more on the fin and 2 really nice K's on the drop shot in 22 over 100' Just saw them worming while we were pitching the fin for the dry fly takers. About 9 AM I headed up the White River as a buddy had caught a really nice limit of Walters up there last week and told me the location. We got there and again there were fish on top. 4 more K's here chasing, but no quality. 5 drop shot fish here on a crawler, and lots of swim-offs. Just would come to the bait and leave. I also hooked and handed Luke 4 spoon fish here. They had been following it all morning and just not taking it. Usually if you can get them to do that they will eat the shot, but not today. Also had 2 short K's here on a jig while the boys were dangling the crawlers looking for a walleye bite. Had a few minutes left in the tour, so I pulled out on the runnout across from Owl Creek and again there were topwater fish. Caught 2 more here on the fin but noting down. 1 really nice SM up chasing. All and all a good morning on the White. I did get into the gas tank abit today, but there were lots of fisherman on places I usually fish and I had to move more and be a little creative. Sounds like I did the right thing, as the take on the community holes sounded down. Same water temps for me up there today.81 to 82. Good Luck

60 plus boat derby went out of Kimberling city today with some really good hands fishing it. 3 flights of boats scattered from the White River to the James to LongCreek Results were not good. 5 pounder was the biggin, and it only took a little over 14 pounds to claim the derby's top prize. Last check was 9 pounds and an oz or two and when it gets like that, it's rough. Did not hear how many limits, but does not sound like many. One of my buds fished it and they didn't catch a limit, or very many shorts. Really a tough day on the pond. Good Luck

Mike was the only one that I knew of that had the units leak. Beck, Pete, Lisek and I never had any problems what so ever. As far as target resolution, and complete HDS Sonar, still think the Bird is falling short, and quite away short of the HDS 7's and up. I can pretty much see line size to the knots on the swivel and tell if my bait is properly positioned on my drop shot, at any depth. I can completely see fish move to the bait and either except or reject it. As Fin mentioned I don't know if the bird has it or not, but Realtime Sonar or what we used to call a flasher is a function to me that is as important as any, and it works flawless on the HDS and HDS Elite units. Can't see a fish open its mouth with it, but pretty durn close. This feature is on the extreme right hand side of the screen and there is no lag time on its reading. Complete Realtime. Personally I have completely no use for the down scan function. Of course I've looked at the Sonar for 10's of thousands of hours. I will say this. On the new units one had better be careful with Lowrance using a chip that is not Lowrance. I'm still getting that worked out. Lowrance has a warning on their site about using non-lowrance chips. Good Luck

Probably just as good for what we do.
