  1. I did talk to a gentleman who fishes Eagle Rock to Big M quite a bit at the ramp as we were leaving. He has caught some on a spook in deep water over trees. But that seems to be the exception. Just not seeing any widespread top water activity like you would expect to see this time of year. I bet you're right about the water color.
  2. Fished with fellow board member Muddy Water today. We launched at 0515 and were done at 1 PM. Had a little bit of a morning bite off a gravel point, but not as good as I was hoping for. Couple of swipes at top waters, but none of them as much as touched our lures. Started grinding it out after that, fishing inside coves, chunk rock banks and points. By about noon we had maybe 15 bass total. Best baits were jigs and creature on a wobble head. Also picked up a few on an Ol' Monster, Ned and spinner bait. About noon the sun finally came out, the wind picked up and we found a chunk rock bank, with a big old MDC brushpile lays here sign. Picked up 8 or 10 on that bank, all Ned fish. Don't know if it was because of the weather change or we finally stumbled upon some, but we had some decent fishing there for a bit. Of course this bite started about an hour before it was time to go. We ended up with a couple of dozen bass, couple of good 17-18" smallies, a Mean that was just a bit shorter than the smalls (which qualified us for the Babler slam), one 16" spot and several LM's that were on that keeper borderline. Water is murky, kind of a greenish brown, can see bottom in about 3-4 FOW. Temp 72-73.
  3. Good luck, I want to make it down there one of these days myself.
  4. Combined age of 115 - well we know Donna is only 25.
  5. Will do. I have a silver/black Phoenix, same goes if you see me.
  6. Were you driving a white SUV/Crossover type vehicle? I was getting my exercise in walking the Windsor dam and saw someone pulling out about 1 PM or so. I haven't fished Brittany in a couple of years, but I used to do OK, once the water got warm, fishing a jig in 10-20 FOW. I'd parallel my boat to the bank, keep the bow in that depth range, and throw in front of the boat, let the jig hit bottom and drag, hop it back. Windsor has been fishing a little tough this year as far as numbers, but pretty good average size.
  7. Elaztech won't deform the plastic in the 3700 boxes. BUT, it will deform other plastic baits if left in contact with them.
  8. Congrats to you and the missus! As far as the hopper bite, I have no idea. Seems like they become a plague in the garden in July and especially August.
  9. That's a head shaker for sure.
  10. I think that if you want to do some research into TR walleye fishing, just do a search on rps postings. Over the years he has written quite a bit on the subject. He consistently puts them in the boat, which is tough to do on TR. We need a TR walleye sub-forum.
  11. Thanks for the report, that's pretty decent fishing. Curious as to what the water color is like up around Shell Knob?
  12. Yeah that was me, but I don't remember seeing you. Sometimes I'm in my own little world focusing on fishing and I miss stuff. I wouldn't have fished those docks if I saw you over there, no wonder I didn't get any bites there. LOL.
  13. My 2 cents on the shallow fish - the bait is shallow, the water is murky providing cover, and the water temps are cool, relatively speaking. They have everything they need. Some will go out in the main channel, but not all. I think quite a few of them are under boat docks during the day or holding on cover. You have to get right on them to catch them, and these fish have been hammered all spring and have seen a lot of presentations.
  14. Yep, I have a Phoenix - were you the guy that I was talking to that was on the dock getting ready to go out?
  15. I like the format, and I like watching the show. I think that the way they fish in MLF is pretty close to the way we "fun" fisherman fish. We're out there to catch fish and have fun and really aren't focused on the best five. That being said, I also like to watch the traditional tournaments, especially the live coverage that BASS has added.
  16. You are setting a high bar for yourself, at least as far as walleye and crappie. It's tough to hope to get into them on a half day trip if you're not familiar with where to go and what to use. If it was me, and I am far from being a walleye expert, I'd troll the gravel and rocky points up in the White river channel with some kind of crawler harness rig. That's my short answer to what can be a long and complicated subject.
  17. Reminds me of this story, which was in the local news when I lived in Washington state. They knew about where the car was, but couldn't find it until they used side scan. http://john-rawlings.newsvine.com/_news/2008/07/27/1699750-diving-into-a-72-year-old-mystery-an-alpine-lake-finally-gives-up-its-secrets
  18. Wow, that lake is high - just watched Edwin pull a 4 lb fish out of someone's flooded lawn.
  19. Yeah so do I, I have things to do this morning.
  20. Typo on my part, it begins at 8 AM CT.
  21. Are you going to have live video of Ham on BSL?
  22. Edwin is going to be on a live stream this morning starting at 7AM. Fishing Grand high water and all. I don't know if they will archive it, or if it will be live only. http://www.bassmaster.com/news/watch-evers-fish-grand-lake-live-thursday
  23. I haven't had any condensation or water issues. I did have a 798 that the power button got stuck in the on, or pushed in position, sent it in and they fixed it no charge.
  24. I can sympathize, I remember many a working day, looking out the window and thinking what a nice day this would be to be out fishing.
  25. Google can be your friend. Some of the terminology is over my head, but looks like a case could be made for this as to being the slime cause. http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/16244080 Or this: https://edis.ifas.ufl.edu/vm059
