  1. Whenever I get tired of the cold we are seeing here, I go look up the forecast for Minneapolis. Their high for tomorrow is -8 with a low of -25! With a nice refreshing 14 MPH breeze.
  2. Looks like wind will be the biggest problem today.
  3. Good friends and good fishing, that's great!
  4. This is turning out to be a cold winter. I just hope that we don't have another cold spring like last year.
  5. I'm a newbie Chiefs fan, lived here 6 years now. But I've also lived in New England and Seattle so I can pull for the Seahawks and Pats also. Would love to see a Chiefs or Pats vs Seattle Super Bowl this year.
  6. I'm looking forward to watching the Chiefs play Indy.
  7. Yep, I'm looking forward to it also.
  8. I was just looking at the jerkbaits on the Tacklewarehouse website, except for one size in one color, they are all sold out.
  9. That reminds me of that quote hat is attributed to Satchel Paige. "MInd over matter - if you don't mind, it don't matter."
  10. HAHA, that's always a possibility, at least based on some of the stories I've heard. I have lost salmon to sealions and seals, but have yet to have a big bass grab a smaller one.
  11. I'm waiting for abkeenan's review.
  12. Yes sir, it's getting to be that time of year, the fishing is tough but chances improve for getting a big fish.
  13. Good luck, hopefully you'll get into them!
  14. Welcome! Good to see another TR fisherman on the board.
  15. 24/7, I've always heard the cold, cloudy, windy days are the best, but I'm too much of a wuss to fish in that stuff. If I have to chip ice out of my line guides, I'm not going fishing.
  16. Cool, off to a good start. How often do you catch a brook trout when you're fishing the White? How about cutthroats?
  17. Thanks guys, you know what they say - Every dog has his day - I'll probably get skunked next time out. Danger - Those black spots are a pigmentation thing some bass get during the winter. Harmless to them, why it happens, I don't know.
  18. Thanks for the update, yeah I would've thought at least 17 to win.
  19. Thanks for the report. The jerk bait bite seems to be a tough one so far, I can't get bit on one.
  20. Fished from 08:30 until about 2:00 PM. There was a decent bite for a while, some 20 feet deep off 45 degree chunk rock, and I picked up some bass off of pole timber and cedars near cove mouths in 10-20 FOW. As usual, as I was dragging a Texas rigged green pumpkin tube. I'm dragging it real slow, trying to imitate a crawdad slowly walking across the bottom. Sometime in the rocks you have to hop it a little to avoid the hang-ups, then I'll hop it a few inches and let it drop down to the bottom. I caught a dozen bass today, one nice 4.5 lb. fish, and a good proportion of keepers, I'd say 8 between 15-17". One 16.5" meany., a couple of spots, but most were large mouth. Water temps were 42-43. Weather forecast is calling for an extended period of cold weather, so it may be a while before I get back out on the Rock. Don't you just love it when you find a good bite and then the weather goes down the drain? A couple of fish pics: The 4.5 Another meany, I've been picking up one or two of these dudes every trip for a few weeks now and they've been decent sized for a meany. Seems to be more of them for some reason. This guy has those winter black spots. And a nice chunky 16" LM, typical of what I caught today.
  21. Happy new year all!
