  1. I'd at least wear gloves if I was going to pick one up, or get it in the scoop shovel.
  2. My garden is about 30 feet away from where I'm sitting inside at my computer. A couple of red shoulders live in the woods nearby, just had one swoop into the garden and grab a lizard.
  3. I hear you there, maybe the next step is a "Dancing with River Monsters" show. Another thing that bugs me is that the "History" channel isn't about history anymore.
  4. One of the other forums I read had a topic on this, there's actually people who thought that mermaids really do exist. Amazing.
  5. An indication that show has run out of ideas. I don't watch it that much any more, lots of drama but in the end the "monster" turns out to be something less scary than your average Musky.
  6. That stinks, sorry for your loss and I hope you get your stuff back and the perps get some time at the graybar motel.
  7. Nice pics, looks like there ought to be some smallies in there.
  8. Looks like we're right on the edge of the tornado warning area fro later this week.
  9. From what I can tell, Beaver and Norfolk get around 150,000 striper fingerlings per year (that's an approximation on some 2008 stocking stats I saw). So we're looking at roughly 10% of that number being stocked in BS every other year. My guess is that you'll see a trophy striper fishery, not many will be caught but you'll have a shot at some monsters, once they been in there long enough to grow big. Got the trout stocking program going on down by the dam, the buffet table will be set for these fish once they get big enough to chomp hatchery rainbows.
  10. It's like 4 home games for the Cards, lots of red in the stands yesterday. Molina is an MVP candidate IMO if he keeps playing like he has been this year.
  11. Looking at the Jitterbugs on Ebay, it's funny how the sellers always describe them as "Vintage" if they're used. Trying to find some wooden ones, used to fish them a lot at night when I lived on the east coast and the wooden ones seemed to ride a little higher and catch more fish than the plastic ones. I can't remember if they made the jointed ones out of wood before they went to plastic or if the jointed ones have only been made in plastic.
  12. I always wondered how those bluffs were formed, thanks for the info.
  13. Got the DVR going, I'm not a big fan of inter-league play, but this series makes sense.
  14. My wallet is lighter, my tackle box is heavier, happens every Memorial Day weekend.
  15. Wind is howling again today.
  16. Tomato plants are finally starting to take off, but not one green tomato on them, Last year I started getting tomatoes in early June. What a difference. Trying some winter squash this year, the plants are up and also finally showing some growth.
  17. Yep she's high enough IMO, hopefully it will stay high at least until the spawn is over and will provide cover to the fry.
  18. Yeah the Elites were raving about BS last year, and I've heard that people say you can really get away from the crowds.
  19. I modified a couple yesterday, used a #3 split ring, haven't fished them yet, but giving them a shake test and the split ring/treb were swinging freely. Modified a 3/8 and a 5/8. Hard to find the 5/8 for sale on the tackle sites, did find one site that had them, Mondotackle.com, but they only had them in black. But they are available on Ebay in the light colors.
  20. Fished Lake Ft Smith about 4 years ago when my brother in law and nephew were in town. Dragged around some crawlers and caught a bunch of small spotted bass. I've seen a few reports where people are saying that it has a lot of small 12" bass. One of these days I'm going to haul the boat down there and give it a shot.
  21. Two deaths (sadly) a woman that died in the barge welding explosion and a young man drowned while swimming.
  22. I'm going to spend some more deep water time this year and I did do quite a bit of c-rigging and jigging last summer in the 20-25 foot depths. Haven't done much deep cranking however, but I'm planning on doing quite a bit this year. Did quite a bit of salmon trolling when I lived in the Pac NW, trolling with downriggers, 120-140 feet deep. Had some great days, I miss it.
  23. I refuse to troll for black bass, not that there's anything wrong with it, but not my idea of fun, at least when it comes to bass fishing.
