  1. Sunday was the best day of the weekend in my opinion and I don't mean fishing. Cold, blustery and wind!! NWS called for 10mph WNW, but more like 20mph gusting. Anyway, dropping shotting in BPs for crappie with X17 is the only way I could get bit. Water sure did cool down 50.5. Wind made me quit for crappie, went bass fishing and caught six dragging baits in the back of creeks with fist size rock. Water was clear as I fished mainly in the Gravios.
  2. GOOD JOB RICK!!! YOUR ON A ROLL!!!
  3. I take you the Gravios (upper or lower)? I am going Sunday to check some things out. Will post later what I find. thanks.
  4. I haven't seen any beds yet, but that's not to say there isn't any? The last full moon and warm weather could have set a few up. This cold weather forecast for the next few days should keep them pulled off.
  5. I know what your saying Terry, we have two "toy" rat terries and our female, well male to sleep in way late. Do you think since they are toys (8lbs), combined they might count as one dog? take care.
  6. Phil, I am sure I have asked this before are you all pet friendly?
  7. Caught 5 fish Sunday from 8:30am to 12:30pm. Three of them where nice around 4lbs. All on a jig, big rocks necessary and some type of transition bank. Water temp was 57-58 degrees in the glaize. I can't catch crappie real good yet up there(glaize), could go to the green bridge area, but haven't yet. later.
  8. Hey Bill, Truman can be the ugliest lake to fish for crappie. We were out on a trip pre-fishing a little club derby for bassoons. We had this nice little tree row on a point with cedars trees starting in the shallows and making there way out to deep water. We were just casually working our way up the tree row when out of nowhere this V-bottom aluminum (not a tracker product) soars in, shuts off, and dang near collides with us and did graze the tree. Those waves were huge!!! Then proceeds to fish between us and the previous trees we fished because his waves moved us off our spot!! It was an elderly man and what appeared to be his son and grandson. Not much you could really say at that point. Anyway, I was absolutely bewildered after that and how ruthless crappie fishing gets!! My two cents. I do feel your pain, I fish LOTO alot.

    Guides

I would look up a guy by the name of Bill Davenport. 573-337-2030.
  10. I have a rod designed to get up there and fish the walk ways, Mmm, I'd say it's about 10ft long. That ring thing is a good idea. It's a private lake and most can do as they please, can't blame em' for that.
  11. Caught crappie shallow up the glaize this weekend in brush. Barely visable under water, but in 8-10ft of water (clear). Bait of choice was the swimming minnow (similar to Phil's, I haven't placed my order yet)in silver sparkle. Wind made several areas difficult to fish. Condo dock people were wacking them every where we went. No biggies, but none under 10" inches either.

    Crappie

Catman, They don't hit spinnerbaits back there do they? I have a club derby this weekend and wouldn't want to get a big surprise like that!!!!!

    Crappie

We are a little bit behind you guys, but fishing up hear at LOTO is starting to get good for crappie. Bill, Wednesday boat traffic at the ROCK is unbelievable. Are you sure you weren't having a nightmare? Phil, if you read this, what is your preferred method for ordering the swimming minnows. Those babys work great up here, just need to use the stick guards. By the way is black back pearl belly available? Thanks gents!
  14. Talked to a lake friend of mine who lives close to the darn, said he had a nice limit yesterday on brush piles, 12-15ft of water. Fish were eating the bait swimming it through or just above the limbs.
  15. I would start in a little town called Warsaw work my way east until you start seeing those frigates. Then you will know the boundaries.
  16. This is an interesting post and growing situation. I have to believe economics plays into the whole matter. Considering lake of the ozarks, my home lake, I am accustomed to paying $5 in and $5 out or $5 dollars to lauch. You can pay $50 dollars to use PB2, but are restricted to using their facilities (which might include Pa he si and PB1)? Either way, this income appears to be necessary to sustain viability since they are privately owned. However, I will say this, us fisherman are fairly low maintenance, we tend be conservationist by putting trash into its appropriate place, whether that be a trash can at home, lauch ramp or floor board of the pick up until it can be properly disposed and finanly, the last time I checked I didn't always require a toilet to piss in. I guess what I am trying to say is it may be necessary to charge and for some necessary to pay. But I will always look for the better deal as long as the ramp is in good condition. Sometimes at LOTO the water is slow you don't have many options. Other times it pays to use the free ramp, depends on how many times a year you fish and what your tolerance is for amenities and convenience. My two cents.
  17. Fred, Shhh, please about the 95 float.
  18. Thanks for posting. They should start to move shallow. I notice alot of bank fisherman out this past weekend.
  19. Time on the water, how true is that. Pretty soon you start thinking like a fish. Sounds like yesterday was a good day.
  20. Babler, Well put, guaranteed money for you this weekend. Sometimes I think a co-angler would be better off to invest his money in five guide trips per year than fish out of the back of the boat. Alot less stress and energy. Take care.
  21. BB, You going to enter the derby this weekend? There will be wind in the forecast.
  22. Second hand report minnow fishing was good in the guts/channels and something was biting because there were boats everywhere bank hugging.
  23. Larry Gale Access in the Niangua above 54 bridge.
  24. You boys ever float Bertha to HWY 95? Short but worth it kind of deal, I have caught some dandy small jaws over the years with the family. Pretty quiet to, not alot of other people on typically busy weekends including holidays.
  25. To tell you the truth it has been very good. I can't speak for crappie because I haven't been, but bass fishing is getting real good or has been for some time depending on who you talk to. We were out sunday had a five lber, three lber and a squeeker from about 10:30 to 2:00 on sticks. Did manage one nice crappie on the stick to. No real color preference, just shad will do. Will be out both days this weekend. Water is warming and things are really changing daily. I heard yesterday people talking about shallow cruisers in the clear water pockets when the sun is shinning bright and warm.
