  5. Fox Sports Net is different from Fox Sports Midwest? May be a stupid question? I have Dish.
  6. I believe the lake is on a somewhat slow rise, seems like there is some water coming down from Truman? Big water temperature switch from PB2 to the dam. I believe on Saturday water was 39 @ PB2 and 45 at the dam. I would fish for crappie, bass seem a little tough now, unless some one else has got something going?

    Dry Rub Search

Ladies & Gents: I am looking for a good dry rub for ribs, something I can buy in a store, like Gerbes, Schnuks, Wal-Mart, etc. My friend recommened this website. www.strawsbbq.com Or if there are dry rubs that can be prepared at home with commone ingredients, by all means due share!!!
  8. Big Al: I support eat local to; farm raised by a family not a corporation, but ag as an industry is a staple to the AMERICAN economy. What other economies do we have now? Steel, auto, etc.? There are intrinsic costs as use mention due to pollution; but how do we address those issues created from automobiles, smog, illegal dumping (City of Osage Beach) and know polluntants. The US economy has the cheapest food in world, despite high grain prices, high fuel and transportation cost we still do. We export more food than any other country especially pork and chicken, why because other cultures (hispanics, asians, and others) enjoy cheap commodity as well and are tranforming into more DOMESTICATED societies. So the question of feeding the world is applicable in it's own right, as nation, as a culture, as a farmer. Good discusion!

    Smoked Ribs

I saw an interesting mix this weekend, mix in a squirt bottle. Half white vinegar, four table spoons of the dry rub mix, and a half can of beer. Use to wet the ribs. They were darn fine.... P.S. I could eat BBQ every night!
  10. How do you propose we feed the nation and the world?
  11. If you need cheap, my recommendation is the Golden Door, if you want luxury the Quails something seems pretty nice and afordable. All just up the street from PB2. The closet to PB2 is the cow place as I call it..."Town & Country".

    Fried Okra

    Okay who's hungry????
  15. Retails for???
  16. Gonefishing: Bucksaw is an interesting choice; they do have a nice pavillion and accomodations for a 50 boat tourney. But dang it is way oup there and anyone fishing the osage or pomme will have extra long runs. I didn't really answer the questions, but with gas prices it be more locale friendly in the mid lake areas. Then again you always have regada issues, reservations, etc. etc. Captmac: I suspect there are quite a few guys on hear fishing the Heartland?

    Fried Okra

Okay, this probably does not quality by definition as a recipe, but never the less it was a good idea based on the ingredients I had at the time. Fresh Okra cut from the garden, cut up into little slices (wheels), one egg, small amount of milk, wisk in bowl. Using Uncle Bucks Beer Batter, lightly seasoned fish batter, dredged okra real good and let sit while oil gets hot. Cook till golden brown. Lightly salt and pepper. Unbelievable. This batter was perfect. Lamberts would be proud (not that their fried okra is anything special). Just thought I would share this simple techinque.
