  1. Fished sunday 2-330pm around indian point, threw a sexy shad crankbait, nothing...changed to spook, caught 1 nice keeper sm in 30 fow water around submerged pole timber, 1 short around a dock, then missed a nice lm around a dock. Went Tuesday night in the fog/rain 5-630, fished around docks with a spook, caught 2 short bass, partner caught 1 keeper on a spinnerbait under dock walk way and several shorts. Went last night 5-630, windy, clear skies, threw spinner bait around docks and nothing, then changed to spook and caught keepers in back of coves around standing cedars. Fish are there and many different ways to catcht them. So many fronts coming it that a pattern is hard to find...
  2. I have a bow mount Eagle 500c fish finder, less than 1 year old. Has worked great since March, but the other day I was using it and all of the sudden the screen went black. Without going into too much electrical detail, is there a chance the unit failed or do I have a current/electrical problem? Assuming fuse is good, do I need to check battery connections, etc.... Any body had this happen to them? Thanks Jim
  3. I am from iowa..have pheasant hunted my whole life. with a 12 or 20 guage, go with high brass 2 3/4" shell, 6 shot for pheasant, 7 1/2 shot for quail. I shoot a 20 guage 99% of the time, I use exactly what I mention earlier. I shoot pheasants up to 40 yards and knock them down no problem with 6 shot and a modified cyclinder. 5 shot is fine for a 20 guage, but a little big for a 12...good luck
  4. still raining out?!?
  5. I only post if what i have to say is relevant, which isnt that often, about once a month
  6. Thanks for the nice fish comments. Honestly though, I usually do not target kentuckys at all, I very rarely drop shot and always fish Indian point area to State Park marina. Long creek on few exceptions. My point is that I have snorkeled the lake several times in the summer and would find smallies and largemouth hanging around fallen trees in the 25 foot area, even in July. Therefore, I have taken that knowledge and assumed that there are fish almost always in that situation. I like to fish no more than a cast and a half from the bank, even in summer and throw texas rig whatever, the bigger the better. Jig/pig combos, top water, crankbaits and spinner baits. My ultimate point is that the more you throw and go, the more you will catch, some days are better than others...just sayin'....Oh and of course, reading the forum helps too. Trust your gut feeling on this, rising water, means shad will find cover in the bushes and so goes the bass, falling water means shad have to move back to cover, usually docks mid day, so do the bass, which is why i'll target docks when the water subsides, then on to sexy shad #5 crankbait in 58-62 water temp. Hope this helps somebody. Thanks
  7. I am thinking about heading down to Tampa FL this weekend...Never been there before but was wondering if anyone has advice in the Ana Marie island area for either pier fishing or surf fishing. I do not have time to take a boat. Thanks in advance
  8. Caught this 5 1/2lber today in back of cove near the dam. Came off a spiner bait, in 5-7 fow in bushes. Yesterday caught several 13-14 inch bass on blade and spoke in 7-15 fow and off docks, also saw two nice lm close to 4lbs working in 1 foot of water. The fish are there, just keep throwing!
  9. Saw this old truck barreling through the creek when we were floating 2 summers ago....he came in down the bank (no road) and left up the other side (no road) Who he was and what he was doing is beyond me, but he didnt even think twice before crossing. It was AWESOME
  10. I have used p-line for 2 years, I love it, my brother, dad and some friends use it, we all really like it. Good strength, low visibility. I have not experienced any problems yet.
  11. One is Central Arms Co., St Louis, MO, 12 guage single shot model 1929 Other is NR Davis & Sons "Diana" model 12 guage single shot. Both guns were made between 1920-1930, fully functioning, nice patina on both. I no longer need them and want the $$ for other projects. $150 each or $275 for both. I live near branson on Table rock lake. They are the top 2 guns in the uploaded pic, the gun on bottom is sold and gone. pm me with questions or more pics Thanks for looking
  12. State Rep Dennis Wood 62nd District sponsored and passed the "Castle Law" last year that protects us as individuals against home/car invasion. http://www.learntocarry.com/docs/CastleDoctrine.html It is a great law and Mr Wood did the right thing....he used common sense and got a good bill passed!!
  13. In the last five years, I know of 4 fish caught over 9lbs. 3 of the 4 were caught in march. 10 is huge. I have been catching tons of whites lately, but no bass mixed in with them. My bass are still shallow, using mainly twister tails or football jig. Lets see the pic of the big girl!!!!
  14. Jack Jensen Central Boat Repair 263 1299 He is in Hollister and is very good IMO
  15. I have had good luck in the last week on 1/2 oz. black/blue football head. Throwing it on the bank and bouncing it back towards the boat. Mainly 45degree banks, some fish I have caught are in 2', some 15'. Last night one slammed it as I was reeling it in fast to make another cast. I would target one of the major river arms of the lake for best success. I have not tried it in main lake yet, but I have been catching nice keeper size largemouth and some nice ky's and a few smj's. Its a great bait, just keep using it, once you catch one, your confidence will increase. Throw that thing under bush over hangs, logs laydowns, etc....you'll get bit.
  16. It was great to meet you OzarkFisherman...I am sure you will have a great time in that boat. It caught me and the wife lots of fish. That type of boat is great for getting into heavy cover and best of all...no boat payments!!!
  17. NICE AMC...SERIOUSLY...NICE...ALL WHEEL DRIVE TOO
  18. Good advice, thanks. I read the crappie slayers tournament report and from the sounds of that, I did okay Saturday. Truman appears to be a fine fishery. Dont know when I'll make it back for the simple reason that I live on table rock w/a dock, have a brother on taneycomo w/a dock and I am having a hard time justifying driving to LOTO, truman, bull shoals, beaver, norfork when there is fish out my back door. I guess I just like a change of scenery Anybody else in this boat too?
  19. One more thing...did see a black snake in the water about 6-7 feet long with a white belly...anyone know what that is?
  20. I put in saturday at long shoal st park. fished coves right across from ramp...nothing, did see to other boats catch 1 crappie each. moved past the grand bridge to a cove, started catchingt crappie trolling slow with electric motor on edge of timber in 20 fow about 10 ft down with any color marabu jig and minnow. only 6 keepers, and several shorts. pretty slow really, but just enough action to keep us interested. but, it was my 1st time there
  21. I have never crappie fished Truman before. If I were to launch a boat up there this weekend...coming from Branson, where would be a good spot to launch, search for crappie, etc. Is one part of the lake better than the other, are the crappie on shore, etc. Any and all opinions are welcomed. thanks
  22. i enjoy eating snappers, but have never eaten a soft shell (sand turtle)...are they safe to eat, are the good
  23. I too am most interested in Walleye fishing Upper Bull Shoals soon. Is there any other advise for us guys who have never done it before. Trolling harness rigs w/nightcrawlers? Things to look out for, should i get a good lake map, any and all help is appreciated. Or, maybe I'll just go and figure something out:) I dont want anybodies "hotspots", just looking for a place to start, where to launch b/c of high water, etc...Thanks in advance
  24. Champ....here is the big one of the day...notice YOU caught it. The crappie are 5-15fow...off banks or docks, dont seem to matter
  25. I need to note, that all fished were released unharmed...we were in a buddy tournament.
