  1. I can't tell for sure, but it looks like a red with some white stuff hanging from it? Maybe it's got a some white hair trailing it to look like milt or something? If I make it down there, I will have to swing by his shop and pick some flies up from him. He has some real killer patterns it appears.
  2. They are calling for the high to only reach 16 that day and the low to be around 6. Are you guys still planning on going down there? If not, I have plenty of stuff I can do around the house instead of freezing my rear off chasing a little fish around.
  3. Sounds like the get together down there Saturday will be a tough for fishing. Better bring some streamers and bright colors flies to try.
  4. If I don't head down to TAneycomo, I will be there on the 19th. I need to dust off the flyrod and see what's in my fly box.
  5. Well I'm not worried about the mushy feeling, I just want a good strong bond. I'm putting new heavy duty guides on a 12' XH surf rod that I use for snagging. I'm not sure what epoxy I have, it's w/e I picked up at Walmart. This is the same stuff I used when I built my Sage flyrod a few years ago and it turned out fine, but I also had access to a drying motor then also. Thanks for the advice.
  6. My boat is a 1650 with a 50 hp Yamaha jet on the back. These are the front and back pictures of the boat. Front Back The previous owner kept the coolers in front using one for beverages/food and one for a livewell. I have been wanting a bigger live for my boat, but the only spot I have room would be in this empty space where the coolers usually sit. I found this online and it looks like what I have been wanting. It's 48" x 42" x 12" x 12" deep. This will fit perfectly in the empty space in the front of the boat. I know weight distribution is the big thing. Right now, I have two 6 gallon tanks beneath the front half of the back deck as you can see in the picture. There is a cranking battery in the very back left for the motor and a deep cycle for the trolling motor, bilge pump, and lights underneath the drivers seat. Do you think I have enough weight in the back to still be safe if I have the livewell filled up with water in the front?
  7. I don't have a motor to spin the rod for me while the epoxy dries so I need to know how often I should turn the rod after I put a coat of epoxy on the thread. Also, how many coats should I put on the thread?
  8. I'm anxious to hear about some walleye or wipers being caught. With archery season almost over with, I will be ready to go catch some fish soon. Had a guy tell me that the hybrid fishing is good in the winter if they run some water.
  9. Too bad there still two months and 11 days before snagging season opens up, but hey who is counting. Anybody else thinking about hitting some big ol bills yet?
  10. I agree with you also. There's not much anymore that doesn't involve money into the mix.
  11. The area that they wanted to try this out is loaded to the brim with eating size catfish under 10 pounds. It takes a long time to grow a big 50 pound plus catfish and I hate seeing them taken from the waters when you could easily catch small ones for the fryer. The truman tailrace is the same way, there are way too many big catfish pulled out of there and before long everybody will be crying that they can only catch dinks.
  12. What size motor and boat do you run? Troutt and Sons had a big jon boat, I was guessing an 1860, with one of those 300 Mercury stroker motors on the back at our fair parade this past summer. Man I wanted to take that thing for a spin around the lake bad. Any idea how fast something like that would run? I had a guy with a 17 or 18 foot boat and an older 225 Mercury jet said that he topped out around 55 mpg.
  13. I was hoping that it would pass. There are so many big catfish that are caught and kept each year it hurts. Why somebody doesn't just keep a bunch of cats under 10lbs instead of the hogs is beyond me. The smaller ones taste better to me anyhow. All well, I guess you have to give the people what they want.
  14. Yep, they are in there and some dandies at that. I have seen quite a few pushing 20" I'd bet pulled out of there during the C&R season. I've yet to catch any, but usually the guys catching them are throwing single hooked rapalas or streamers.
  15. I was referring to the water pump assembly and impeller, not the impeller in the lower unit. On this website, http://www.scottandjenn.com/etomite/index.php?id=22, they recommend replacing the water pump assembly and impeller yearly too. This site was recommended to me for learning about maintaining my motor. I read where the stainless impeller just increases the life of it on smaller outboards. The bigger motors are the only ones that have a noticeable performance increase. I'm not sure how big your motor is, but I only have a 50hp Yamaha on my boat. What are the price differences between aluminum and stainless impellers?
  16. I'll come. I don't have anything else going on that day that I know of so far.
  17. Du Kum Inn has some awesome dinnertime food I know. I wish I had read this earlier than today because I would have came down there and went fishing. It's too windy to feel like going bow hunting right now.
  18. Appreciate the help guy. I need to get my jet shimmed and sharpened I know for sure. I seen where it's recommended you replace the water pump impeller every year too. Does anybody do this and is it easy to do on your own?
  19. What is foggin oil? Is this the same thing as Stabil? I'm definitely going to sharpen the impeller this year. The guy I bought it from hadn't done it for a while I don't think.
  20. I've heard that the wipers bite good during winter generation at the Tailrace. Has anybody gotten fished lately to know if anything is biting?
  21. I didn't know that Phil. Did MDC stock them or did they get tossed in by somebody who didn't want to mess with them one day?
  22. I snag alot during that time frame, but have never seen a big school of gar like that. My buddy and his dad did a few years back. They tried to snag some, but wouldn't you know it they ended up yanking out a few 60 pound paddlefish instead. Funny how things work sometimes.
  23. Yea, better scratch the paddlefish then. I like snagging near brush, but too much is never a good thing, for snagging that is. Maybe they should just throw some gator gar in there....*laughs*. Ok not really, but how would you like to look down and a see an 8 foot long gar swimming by....I think I would be on my way to the dock to change my drawers.

    I'm saying Mizzoui by 7.
  25. Stock paddlefish in there. They are big and fun to catch. Won't have to worry about them eating any trout either.
