  1. Here is a link to my report from April 18/19.
  2. That's pretty cool! My buddy snagged on in the top fin while crappie fishing at Flat Creek a few years ago and we chased it all over the place with the trolling motor before he finally landed it. He caught it on some $20 cheapo combo he had just bought at Walmart and it pretty well fried the reel after catching that carp LOL. His was only half the size of yours though.
  3. I bought a 7-1 M/F soinning rod paired with a Pflueger President 6930 and out it to the test on some smallies yesterday. It fishes like something that would cost a lot more. I agree on the eyelets. They don't seem very sturdy but time will tell I guess. The next i plan on getting is the 7-3 MH casting rod.
  4. http://legendssboats.com/boats.php?id=18-52F That link has all the info you need on my boat. Cowtown sells them and they also have bigger models that will take up to 250hp outboards. Mine is the 1852 model with a 115 Etec. One of these days, I would like to upgrade to the 1860 model with the extended flipping deck insert.
  5. One of my buddies was down to turkey hunt this week. Since we were both fortunate enough to bag our birds on Monday, we decided to go chase some bass today. We didn't catch a bunch, but did land a few nice ones. My buddy caught his personal best that measured 18.75". It was also his first fish of the day. I ended up catching a 16.75" football of a smallie as well as a 17.75" largemouth and another 15" smallmouth.
  6. The 13 fishing store locator shows the Cabela's in Roger's, Arkansas as being the closest dealer for 13 fishing gear. Missouri doesn't have much of a network for 13 fishing gear outside of Cabela's in KC and STL.
  7. I'm not sure what you are better at, catching trout at night or finding mushrooms. You do very well at both.I envy folks who are good at finding morels.
  8. I didn't see much of anything being caught in the dead channel and it was crammed full of boats. The boats in the main channel were doing much better overall from what I observed.
  9. Aint tge water too low for them to run very far up?
  10. Not that I could tell.
  11. Fished below the buoys noon till dark Thirsday. Ended up with three limits of crappie and 21 white bass. Friday we fished again from 9-4pm and ended with 24 crappie, 12 whites and 6 blue cats about a pound each. The gar kept eatings our jigs and minnows as well and we hooked many and landed about a dozen. Minnows worked the best. The bite was slow during the day and got really good the last few hours of the day. The fish were holding right on the bottom in 20-30' in the main channel side.
  12. Haha.... nice spoony.
  13. We use 9-12' surf rods with 65# Power Pro with two 10/0 hooks and a 4oz weight on the James. The first hook is 1-2' above the sinker and the next hook is 4' above the first hook. If the fish are crammed in to a hole up river where it narrows, then one hook works fine.
  14. This goofy weather. The past few days it was 80 degrees and I got a pretty nice sun burn and have to turn around and possibly build a fire in the outdoor furnace again! Come on!!!!
  15. That's what I had planned on doing until we found the mother load on that last brush pile. I've always had success doing what you mentioned, but even then there are times when I spend too much time in one area. It's a bad habit to break. I'm better at moving around when I'm just out enjoying the day and not too worried about filling the live wells. Funny thing is I am pretty sure I do better when I am not in such a serious fishing mode because I stay more open minded throughout the day.
  16. Old Plug speaks the truth. Dad referred to yesterdays fishing as "stove pipe" fishing because you had to put your jig right on top of the brush or you didn't get bit. Once we moved off the banks/docks and found those brush piles, we caught very few short fish. Most were 10-12". The few fish we pulled off of the banks and docks were short or 9-10". If the weather stays decent, next weekend and for sure the following weekends after that should be on fire.
  17. I had to hold the jig right in the cover to get bit. We didn't catch many fish casting. I guess they weren't in the mood to chase. My electronics were vital today. It was definitely not how I normally fish loZ this time of year.
  18. I will have to fix the picture when I get to a computer. The pic turned out sideways on the Iphone.
  19. I played hooky from work and took my dad up to PB2 to go after crappie. Banks and docks weren't producing much so went and found some brush piles with my side imaging Humminbird and started catching fish. Brush piles in 12-15' of water was the ticket. Blue/white and white/chartreuse were our best colors. Five of the 30 fish were under 10". The rest were 10-12 inchers.
  20. I stopped in and got my decal on the way to LoZ this morning. Thank you Phil for having them made and RiverRat for delivering them to the tackle store.
  21. I need to get one of those decals from you or the store. Been meaning to go check out that store anyways. Are they free or cost st the store?
  22. If you can swing it, get a unit with GPS. The down imaging would be a plus, but having GPS is super handy.
  23. That's really cool Al! I will mark it on the calendar and plan on coming up at least once. I'm not a regular over there, but do check in from time to time. It's always a good time meeting up with a bunch of other anglers for stuff like this. Boiling Springs isn't too far of a drive for me so no need for me to camp.
  24. I was about to post the same info. For those who want to be able to change hooks on the swivel jigheads, Punisher Lures makes one called the Hail Mary with a ring.
