  2. We had a good outing yesterday in the Cape fair area...Rapala minnow was the winning ticket
  3. I look forward to camping and fishing the big M area on memorial day weekend. My family and I have reserved a campsite at Viney, it is open on the 13th I believe they said. Quick question, how does the water look over there? Is it stained right now or is it cleared up like Kimberling area? ( I know my daughter will want to swim lol) do you think it will be clear by the end of month? Good looking fish and hope to get on the top water bite!
  4. Lol...bonus fish!!
  5. It was a nice float out of boiling spring camprground as we always enjoy that float and spot. The water was running well and the fish were biting. I caught some larger fish but they were drum I believe (first time catching those). Landed a few smallie but only took picture of the larger one.
  6. Now that would have been an AWESOME sight to see with the deer swimming across the lake, I had no idea they would do that!! Thanks for the pic!!
  7. Nice Fish Bittle!!!...Did you by chance go to Reeds Spring High School? I believe you were a year or two behind me as I was class of '99 Tight lines, Simon
  8. TOPWATER!!!! IT DOESNT GET BETTER THAN THAT FOR ME!!!
  9. my idea of a perfect lake is 59,000 miles of shoreline (or whatever tablerock lake is) all to myself except for hot blondes on every point with paddle boats and coolers full of corona!!! that way i can fish till 10:00 am and ski till i cant go no more then jump back to fishing when the heat is done for the day!!! but what fun would that be!!! j/k guys...you know i couldnt be out there without my fellow OAF boys!!!!
  10. champ i understand exactly what you mean....i must say i wakeboard and pull my father on a slalom ski more than i fish and yet it seems the "tubers" and waverunners are the ones that cause majority of the frustrations out there...when i pull a skier i take alot of consideration into the other boaters, you never know what they are going to do!!! i never try and cut between people or get close to anyone by any means, when i make my turns i make sure i have a very open spot to make that turn and if i feel unsafe about any of it i will just shut it down and apologize to my skier. i have a question about aunts creek though, is the end of aunts creek a no wake zone??? we went all the way to the end of it to get some R & R,passing no wake bouys and a big sign attached to a dock that says "NO WAKE ZONE" and yet waverunners were going full bore back there, two of them coming well within 25 yards of our boat while we were out there swimming, just acting like complete fools!!! as for life jackets, well i am guilty of this infraction, i have operated many different styles of boats (as many of us have) and i must say the only type of boat i wear a life jacket while running is a bass boat, i know i am going to take hits on this one but that is the honest truth....i feel a bass boat will get away from an operater alot easier than a ski boat, but i could be wrong!!
  11. SO....HOW WAS THE FISHING? I CAN ONLY IMAGINE THEY WERE FEEDING LIKE CRAZY!!!
  12. have you guys noticed a difference in morning bite versus afternoon bite? sure do appreciate the info you guys post!!!
  13. i heard a rumor that the whites are running in the kings...is there any truth to that? anyone doing any good?

  16. well guys, if you remember back in March, i was taking a trip to eleven mile canyon in colorado. i returned quit a while ago and have finally found time to get the pics from the camera to my pc. the funny thing i found about this trip, was how the local fly shops sold me a "few" dollars worth of phesant tailed nymphs, blue winged olives..etc..etc...but when it came down to it, majority of my fish were caught on scuds that i had originally tied for taneycomo trips!!! the canyon was beautiful and it was an excellent experience!! it seemed like every turn the canyon took, it was another honey hole waiting..just wasnt enough hours in the day to get'em all!! attached are a few of my favorite pics!!
  17. I HAVENT BEEN DOWN FOR SOME TIME NOW....SOUNDS LIKE I NEED TO PUT THE HOUSE CHORES ON HOLD AND DO SOME FISHING...... 21. WELL GUYS, I THANK YOU FOR ALL YOUR INSIGHT AND I HAVE DONE EXTENSIVE RESEARCH....I HAVE DECIDED ON....(DRUM ROLL)....ELEVENMILE CANYON!!!.. JSCHEETZ, FROM WHAT I HAVE READ & PICS I SEEN, I AM GOING TO HAVE TO AGREE ABOUT THE BEAUTY OF THE CANYON AND AM REALLY LOOKING FORWARD TO FISHING THESE "POOLS"......AT FIRST I WAS HEADED TO THE "DREAM STREAM" BUT AFTER SEEING THOSE PICS OF THAT CANYON, I JUST HAVE TO GO W/ THAT...WHO KNOWS I MAY BE ABLE TO SNEEK AWAY FOR A SECOND DAY AND TRY OUT THE "DREAM STREAM"!!! 22. hello, i have a question that may just be a shot in the dark but i am going to give it a try....from march 23rd to april 2nd i will be in colorado springs,Co visiting in-laws , well the way i see it i may need some simon time and get away for an afternoon for some colorado fly fishing....so my question is, has anyone been fly fishing in colorado, near colorado springs? if so, can you point me to a site or something that would give me directions to some waters, does anyone know what i should start tying up? (i hear that about the time i show up the first blue winged olive hatch will be going on so i will tying up some of those)....any help would be greatly appreciated and once again i know it is a shot in the dark but i thought i would atleast try!!! thanks, simon
  23. hello, i was up at anglers & archers the other weekend and had a chance to sit in on one of chuck's (i believe his name is chuck???)fly tying classes....at the end of the wooley class, he showed a few of us how to tie up the south platte brassie w/ a hackle front....well time has pasted and i can kinda remember the few steps there were but i cant picture nor remember the carefull step of tying in the hackle front...i know the hackle is just one rotation but cant think of how to tie it in!!! any help and illustrations would be greatly appreciated!!!! p.s. chuck if you read this......stripping the south platte brassie when generation turned off was some of the funnest fly fishing i have ever had....thank you for reccomending that fly!!!!! an absolute blast!!!!
  24. quote: "I believe it is in the Home waters book" what is this "home waters book"? i have been wondering if there is a fly tying book out there that would relate to just this area (southwest mo or just mo), could this be it? if so,where would could i find this book? and if not, can someone point me in the general direction to find the holy grail of fly tying for southwest mo?
  25. i took my girlfriend trout fishing for the first time about 6 months ago and we did really well!! everyone says i should teach her to fly fish i taught her to golf and now i cant go golfing w/ out her, so teaching her to fly fish isnt going to happen...i mean a fella needs his man time right!! a good location is down at the branson landing, end of bass pro parking lot, there is an area next to that bridge w/ two little shade trees, perfect place to bring a child, we caught fish almost every cast, also directly across the river at the other end of the bridge is good fishing also!! we used hot orange and bright green power nuggets put together (one on each side of the tri-hook)!!! i hope you and daughter have a great time!!
