Ok. Now there’s 2 you-know-who’s! 😁

My maternal grandparents listed their home on the immigration papers as Mount Lebanon Syria. You should all be worried that I’ll channel my inner-Arab. Then there’s my German quarter. We all know what they’re capable of. The remaining quarter is Irish. Nuff said. You guys should be worried about ME! Especially you-know-who!! 😁

It's a good time, for sure. We upgraded and did all pheasants. They fly better than quail and if you get one it's a pheasant not a quail I went to Baker, and I love Baldwin and the surrounding area. It's full of great memories for me.

My son Matt has been after me to get out and do some bird hunting, so we headed out to Eckman Hunting Preserve near Baldwin City, KS on Saturday morning. I've known Mike Eckman for many years. He used to be a regular in our western Kansas hunting group before he started the business about 16-18 years ago. Good guy and runs a good operation. We took our two Brittanys Max and Ruby with us. Max is 11 years old and has hunted a quite a bit, but not so much the last few years. Ruby is 6 and just doesn't have as much time in the field, plus I really didn't put as much effort into training her to begin with. But they've both got good pedigrees and great instincts. After the dogs got settled down a little things started to click with them. We had several nice points including a picture-perfect one from Ruby which was really fun to see. The birds held pretty tight and they flew well. Matt got a lot of action and had a blast. We ended up with 9 birds in about 3 hours. It's a pretty compact and efficient hunting experience. Sure, it's not the 'real thing' but I'll take it over the alternative. It's only a little more than a half hour out there. The area we hunted was only about 15 acres. We knew there were birds and they weren't too hard to find. It beats the heck out of a 4-5 hour drive each way, staying in a crappy motel, miles and miles of walking with a real chance of zero birds these days. And, it's much easier on the bum knee. Poor old Max could barely walk the rest of the day. And neither could I

Almost all those regional stock exchanges and boards of trade have either been swallowed up or folded and I thought CSE was gone too. Looks like it's been absorbed and name changed but still around, kinda. Not a name I ever hear.

Couple of recent ones I don't think I shared: Think I posted this and the recipe a year or two ago. My grandmother's Date Nut Pudding. This has been made in my family every Christmas for at least 60 years, and likely many more. Great-grandparents were from Ireland, but not sure on the recipe source. Not like American pudding obviously -- but a very moist cake with equal parts flour, sugar, chopped dates and nuts plus an egg and some butter. Sauce is sugar, butter and cream. A little stir fry Did a ho-made chicken soup yesterday. Picture will follow if I remember tonight.

You're correct. I thought they were gone. My bad -- continue worrying.

There is no Chicago Stock Exchange so quit worrying. 😁

Adjust yourself, not your tackle.

I believe the opportunities to hike along the North Fork will be limited as most of that is private property. Ozark National Scenic Riverways, a national park, includes portions of the Current and Eleven Point Rivers which would offer good trout fishing.

How did it turn out? Any pictures of the finished deal? It sounds absolutely delicious.

One thing I know from experience is when seasoning use very little oil and wipe it down until it's almost all gone. A thick coating of oil will give you a gummy, sticky surface.

We rounded up all our gift cards today. Probably enough sitting in the pile to pay for one. Some of these are 2 or more years old.

Not in the last 5 years. And that's all I've got to say about that

I'm about 1 good picture of a lobster tail away from buying one of those contraptions.

Watched (kinda) an episode of Essential Pepin today on Create where he did this type thing with spinach, bread and garlic stuffing. Looked great. Here's the recipe from the episode. Might be worth finding the episode. It's a little slower and more in depth than the video.

Did a tour of a large local coffee seller last year about this time. Part of the deal was to demo the same coffee, same grind, ground in front of us, same water, same temp (I think) in a pour over and also in a French press. The difference was quite noticeable, which was the point of their demonstration. French press won for us -- the pour over was more oily. We grind up enough for the week on Sunday nights and do drip coffee each morning with that. On a timer, just one less thing to do. On the weekend we do a little courser grind in a French press. We tend to like the lighter roasts. Roasterie Guatemalan is our fave.

Yeah, I'm sure that would happen if I bought one. Dang it! Maybe I need to get one

Looks good. Love pot pies and know a similar recipe. We used cream of chicken soup though. Good for leftover chicken, turkey whatever.

Family friend and Scot Mrs. Gilfedder used to make shortbread for us each year at Christmas. When she passed I picked up the torch. My dad loved it and I’ve been making for at least 30 years now. Butter, sugar and flour. Used Kerrygold butter this year. Seems to make a difference. Look at it versus Land O’Lakes on the right: Had a taste for Cajun tonight so did Shrimp Etoufee. Good stuff

I'm gonna get you a dictionary and a set of World Books for the upcoming winter holiday thingy.
