I’m just so-so on broccoli and it’s readily available if I want it. I’ve always done a small garden and space is at a premium.

Checked my notes -- last grew it in 1993
  3. Well, as a guy who loves to trout fish and pheasant hunt, I'm not gonna gripe too much.

    What's Cooking?

I guess if you've got a microwave, you've got a fridge in the room... A month is a long time....Maybe take a toaster with you? Then you could do toast, waffles, English muffins, bagels, naan. Of course, there's all the prepared stuff you could microwave. Take some paper plates/bowls to cook in. Can't really think of much meal-wise, especially healthy. Is there a nearby motel with a continental breakfast? They never check keys

Oh, you guys just keep it up. When I’m eating BLTs in June and you guys are looking at marble-sized maters I’ll get my revenge!!!

Haven’t done blackberries, mine are black raspberries. But I think they work about the same. Once a cane has borne fruit it should be pruned out in late summer. These older canes will look woody and won’t bear fruit again. I think you’d be fine doing that now. Then there’s the general clean up this time of year to reduce the overall size and open up the plant and encourage growth. Should be able to dig up strawberries and move them if they’re just a year old. They’re pretty tough. They will eventually peter out and need to be replaced.

    What's Cooking?

Threw together a pretty good lunch today. Baked cod, risotto with onion, mushroom, peas, Parmesan cheese, and some steamed asparagus. To me, the risotto was the star of the show. Cleaned all that up and a few hours later made some meatballs and all the rest for a spaghetti dinner with ness 2.3. No pictures, because I’m freakin bloated and exhausted. Good night all.
  9. Thanks. That makes sense to me.

    Whatchya Drinking?

Ahh, I know it sounds awfully fancy. I like what I like. Don’t read too much into it. I also like Budweiser.

    Whatchya Drinking?

I like a classic martini—gin or vodka—with the vermouth still in it. About a 3 to 1 ratio is right for me. Sounds snooty, but I like them shaken, not stirred. Gotta have it ice cold and I like the little ice slivers that you get from shaking. When I order them out I never know what I’m gonna get, so I’ve got a little spiel I go through. Gin, up, 3/1, not dirty, olives. Can’t make myself say shaken, not stirred. Went to a pretty nice restaurant recently and I told the waitress we wanted martinis, but laughed and said we had some instructions. Went through the drill and ordered one gin and one vodka. When she brought them back I asked which one is the gin? She raised them up to her nose and sniffed them to figure it out 😄

    Whatchya Drinking?

I’ve got a pet peeve for the misuse of the ‘martini’ name. The above is acceptable, but chocolate, apple, etc. needs to come up with a different name.

Me too. But, mainly, just don’t do scotch.

Alright, alright, I start them early one time and I gotta take crap for the next 2 years 😄 Here’s the sitch last weekend: Seedlings not saplings.
  21. I want that fly. How much? Seriously, can you point me to some instructions? Love the look of that!!
  22. Dick’s CEO: How many AR-15s did we sell last year? Dick’s Gun Sales Manager: 6! Up 50 percent from 2016! Dick’s CEO: Get me Public Relations, tout de suite!
  23. Last night I blew the cobwebs off the ol’ bench (literally) and actually tied a few flies. Pheasant tail nymphs. Ever heard of them??
  24. No, 4 is a really good all-around rod size. I doubt you’ll notice much of a difference. I use a 4 a lot on the creeks and at the parks. More than any other weight. Mostly dries and nymphs, but it handles small streamers fine. If you’ve still got 5 weight line, try it on the 4. It’ll slightly slow the action.

That sucks. Haven’t had beetle problems with my black raspberries, but have had some kind of disease. I pruned them way back last year and may pull them if a fungicide doesn’t work. No problems with gooseberries other than birds.
