  6. I was talking about this with a friend just this past weekend. You get about 10-12 years of the really good stuff -- where they're cute as heck, love you unconditionally and think you're the greatest parents anyone could want. Then it's gone. I guess grandkids are gonna be a close second, but I don't know that from experience. Don't get me wrong, life's pretty good, but I'll never see those days again. It is pretty satisfying to see -- when things start to click and your kids start to show that the things you tried to teach really did stick. I'm just now getting to that point with mine, even #2 son.
  7. I've got 3 babies: 24, 20 and 20. 24 year old daughter is turning the corner and realizes dad's not as big a dumbazz as she thought, and that I'm really on her side. Number 1 son has always been pretty level-headed and usually gets it. I embarrass him sometimes, but it's not my intellect that's the problem. Number two son recently informed my I'm the worst #%^*+% dad in the world, which I thought was gonna be kinda hard to prove. It's gonna get better Mitch.

    Went to the little lady's and shared the cooking duties. Grilled a couple filets, had roasted baby taters, glazed carrots and bananas foster foe dessert. Washed it down with a lemonade Vitamin Water as ness has given up the hooch for lent.

    Salad and shrimp cocktail. Made dough for pizza tomorrow.
  15. Alright mic, after much soul searching, prayer and meditation I have decided to tie the Pheasant (shot by ness) Tail Nymph. I'll probably tie a couple for each of you guys. Not a original tie, but I did bag the bird after all. That part's kinda original.

    Got a surprise in the mail today. I was afraid these were gonna be too hot to eat, but they're just right. If I don't pace myself, I can see how the burn would catch up though. These are good! Thanks Mr. BilletHead! Didn't even need the milk. After the appetizers, I shredded up a rotisserie chicken, cooked some noodles and made a quick sauce for 15 minute chicken and noodles. Added some peas, just because that's the way I like it.

    Yeah, I'll be tasting them for the next 24 hours if I accidentally ingest green peppers, or raw cukes for that matter.

    Oh man, creamed peas? I'll eat canned peas if they're creamed -- I love that -- but otherwise it's frozen or fresh. What do you mean sweet bells? Like your Cubanelles? I'm gonna have a plant or two of those this year. Roasted or fried peppers I like. I always do poblano, anaheim and banana each year.

    If they are really cooked and soft, I can tolerate them. When I made gumbo the other night I cooked the crap outta them. When I make gumbo/etoufee the slow way, I use a poblano. Red bell peppers are better, and actually good if they're roasted. Raw green is what I cannot stand.

    I'm like that with cucumber and green bell pepper. I got a salad the other day and it was infested with little maggots of cucumber. I about sent it back, but just toughed it out. I love pickles, and can tolerate green pepper if it's thoroughly cooked. Just not raw.

    Last night I whipped up some risotto and peas, and sauteed a chicken breast then made a quick mustard cream sauce. Kinda like what we did in the cooking class, but not as fancy. Pretty good though. Ruby was a good girl and didn't beg -- she was just letting me know she was there
