    What's Cooking?

We're kinda lucky -- there's a Penzy's retail store in old downtown Overland Park.
  3. Definitely Band of Brothers.
  4. I've heard about people eating reds for years. The story was always that it made some people sick, but most were ok -- not deadly. The last several years I seem to hear much more bad stuff, like severe illness and even death. They're not for me.
  5. Ok--here goes, all time faves: M*A*S*H Andy Griffith Leave it to Beaver Hogan's Heroes The Office Right now it's Better Call Saul, House of Cards and Foyle's War.
  6. I wouldn't be surprised if it's one of the most common baby names in Missouri right now. Especially Taney County.

    Plants

Like JD said -- find a local greenhouse, or a garden center, and talk to them and see what looks good. I'd rather have a short, stocky plant than a big tall one. I always make sure they look healthy too, unless I'm desperate. I start from seed indoors each year, but it seems like I always end up buying a few for one reason or another. I usually grow several heirlooms and a couple hybrids tomatoes. Celebrity hybrid is a medium-sized reliable red mater that's determinate, disease resistant, and it's widely available. Sun Gold hybrid is an outstanding yellow/orange cherry. I'm not a big cherry eater, but these have a great sweet/tart flavor almost like citrus. Heirloom favorites that are pretty available are Brandywine and Cherokee Purple. Really great flavor on those two.

Naked Guns are great! 'Nothing to see here!' I also loved the TV show that preceded them -- Police Squad.

Comedy and war, I'm right there with you, except I'll watch SPR every time it's on. I'm not a Sci-Fi guy.

    What's Cooking?

I've got to drive quite a way from home to get to a liquor store that has a really good selection of single bottles. I don't know why more don't do that. I'd try a lot more beers if I didn't have to buy a whole sixer. I'd pay $2 for a bottle of 11 Point, but would pass on $9 for six of an unknown/.

    What's Cooking?

Dang, I'm impressed! What a production! Also, never heard of 11 Point Pilsner (or Springfield Brewing), but as fast as they're opening breweries up, that's not surprising. How is it?
  12. Oh man, that takes me back to when we were riding with the Doobies! That was far out, man!

    What's Cooking?

I'm not a big dessert eater, but dump cake is great stuff!! I made an Irish Soda Bread a couple days ago. A little extra sugar, and loads of dried cranberries and currants. That's gonna be dessert tonight.

    What's Cooking?

Just 'pintos', not 'brown beans'. And, oh heck yeah -- I love bacon, and sausage, in the maple syrup. Not the eggs though! Here's one: One of my favorite sandwiches is bacon or sausage on buttered toast with jelly. Just gonna be a gas-grilled burger tonight. Probably do a can of drained Bush's plain baked beans with a little ketchup, yellow mustard and molasses. That's my quick-and-dirty 'BBQ' beans thing.

    What's Cooking?

I've got the 'black-eyed peas taste like dirt' gene. Also, the 'cilantro tastes like soap' one. You keep those two out of your chili and I'm all in, all the time.

    What's Cooking?

Man, that pan sauce is gonna be nice. You need some mashed taters and corn to pour it over

    What's Cooking?

Phil -- we need an unlike button I just can't see that one. If I dropped some jelly on my eggs by accident, I'm pretty sure I'd scoot that part over to the side.

    What's Cooking?

I gotta admit -- I never heard the term brown beans until I read it on OAF. I Googled, and it's pinto beans, right? That may be a regional thing. I always use navy or great northern beans when making ham and beans. Chili gets kidney, or light kidney. Baked beans of course. I've seen pinto beans on the menu a few times, but I don't recall brown. Only other time I see pintos is in refried beans.

    What's Cooking?

No, never did ketchup on eggs--blech. I've got a niece that doesn't like gravy, so she'll put kerchup on mashed potatoes and turkey ...

    What's Cooking?

Looks good, BH. I'd only change one minor thing. Since I was a kid, I take my corn on top of the taters
