  1. I know that this doesn't really have much to do with fishing, but I have spent my life at Roaring River and wanted to share the good news with all of you who love that place as much as I. I found out a couple of weeks ago that I'm going to be a daddy this year and I sure am excited! I have a picture of the first fish I ever caught and it was standing on the gravel shores of RRSP and I can't wait to continue tht tradition with my new family. Tim, start stringin up a new rod for me. Maybe I can have it good and broke in for my little one by the time their old enough!

    Easter

First and foremost I want to wish everyone a very happy Easter 2010. I heard an awesome message this morning and wanted to share just a bit of it with you all. The message centered around Matthew chapter 6 verse 22 and 23. It speaks of the eyes being the lamp of the body and if they are good, how the light will fill the body. If they are bad, how the darkness can fill your spirit. I don't know about the rest of you, but this verse really makes me think about what I choose to light my lamp. So often evil and bad can consume everything we look at. GOD wants us to fill our spirit with the light of JESUS CHRIST and be filled with the love, joy and peace that is in HIM. I hope that we all can find the fuel that is provided by our risen savior to light our lives. I sure enjoy this site and all of you that are a part of it. I know my journey in life has been marked by failures and bad decisions, but reminders such as these.... and good places to get away and fish and get close to my GOD are sure the blessings of life. Speaking of blessings..... I found out that I'm going to be a daddy in 2010!!! Can't wait to take my new one fishing! Jay Parker
  3. Muskogee, OK......Started raining last night 9pm, been sleeting since 10am.....snow on the way. Yesterday it was 72 degrees and beautiful. Gotta love Oklahoma weather.
  4. Dito on what cullin said. The lower end of the river was really good for me this week. Caught all I wanted on cone headed woolybugger, olive and brown were my two favorite and most successful while jig fishing. I also used an olive maribou jig with a black head and did well. The last day I was really blessed. I caught two that were realy nice 20+ inch fish and several more that were close, but the two were the best I have caught in a while. I fished the top one morning and caught my limit but I sure don't like fighting the crowds. I recomend the bottom any day, more quality fish and more room. Anywho, hope you make it up there. Jay Parker
  5. We leave for Cassville 23 hrs 23 minutes and 5 secs, 4secs, 3secs..... Not soon enough! Hope the fishing is as good as I have been hearing. Anyone been there this week? I have also heard that not as many folks have been there yet. Wonder why? I guess that means more for the rest of us! Hope everyone is doing well and has had a chance to go fishing. See you on the river.
  6. Good deal. I appreciate the advice and will get to it asap. Planning any fishing trips this month?

    Down Below

I was telling dad about you luck below the park today. Santa brought him a new canoe this year and he wants to take it below the park and fish. What do you think?
  8. Thanks guys! I will definetly give those a try. What flies/lures would you recomend? I have never fished with a zonker before. How do you fish them?
  9. You would assume correctly on the lower illinois. I have never fished the upper river much. Pretty good, huh?
  10. I was just wondering if anyone could give me some advice on fly fishing waters here in NE OK. I love using my fly rod and spend lots of time on Roaring River. I have used my fly rod before here and caught lots of perch, mostly on ponds, but sure would like to broaden my casting areas! Anywho, hope to hear from you!
  11. Hey Tim! The videos have been an awesome tide over in between getting to come to the river!
  12. Yes sir! I doubt they would have let me fish the 17th in Jan or Feb! It sure would be nice though.....
  13. It's sure been nice to have lived vicariously though most of ya'll during C&R this winter! I was only able to make it up to R&R once but it sure was good fishing. We are going back the week of spring break for us here in Okie land. Is anyone else planning a trip the week of the 17th?
  14. Hello Tim. Didn't get a chance to come by and say howdy. I'll be back in March. Hope all is well!

  15. Sorry! I am having trouble getting my pictures to upload. I will share them soon. Fishing was awesome!
  16. I had the chance to spend yesterday at Roaring River with a couple good buddies of mine and my family. We had a great time catching up on all the usual bull, good jokes, cards and fishing. Saturday was absolutely beautiful. A little rain from time to time, but the fish were biting and that sure makes up for the precip. I took advantage from Tim's fishing report and others who had been there and left my jig pole in the truck. Sure glad I did because I really think that catching a fish on a fly rod is about 1000 times better than a regular rod. I finally have a camera now to take good pictures and as soon as I figure out how to post the crazy things I will sure share them with you. The coolest thing about Saturday wasn't just the fish biting, but the fact that right then and there I had everything I needed to be happy. I've always said that GOD knew that I would need a place like Roaring River to take my family too when Muskogee, OK needed to be forgotten for a few days. I love that place. I hope that everyone has their own heaven on earth and that you go there soon and often. GOD Bless! Jay Parker
  17. Just returned from a realy relaxing and successful fishing trip to the river. Had a chance to fish with good friends and family. Here are a few pictures for you to enjoy. God Bless!
  18. Ha! I know what your talking about. I think my wife with fall in love with it when we finally get it going. I appreciate the help again. jp
  19. Thanks guys! I will definetly look into both suggestions. I think we may end up going with a pop up. My family had one when we were growing up and really liked it. The only problem with it was breaking it down wet... Had to let it air out when we got home, no big deal really. Anywho, thanks again and we'll talk to you soon. jp
  20. My wife and I are looking for a travel trailer. If you know of one within around 150 miles of muskogee, ok let me know please. Thanks
  21. I watched your Jan. 9th video. Looks like the Zebra Midge did very well. Do they work year round or just during the winter season?
  22. Man o man! What a post. Loved reading that pard. Being an okie myself, I've probably made the same trip on the same roads all of my life.

  24. I hate to hear that as well. We have also had a state wide cut here in Oklahoma. 10% or more is the official word and as experience has shown us probably more. Anywho, hope all turns around there.
  25. Good morning Tim! Coming to fish on the 23rd. Hope to see you there.
