  2. Left the fly rod at home and went looking for spawning bass....almost time! http://looknfishy.blogspot.com/2015/03/3rd-times-charm.html
  3. Keeping it real...not every trip is a success. This one was terrible. http://looknfishy.blogspot.com/2015/03/spring-break-part-2-worst-fishing-trip_28.html
  4. Thanks for sharing. Looks like I something I need!!
  5. Now is a good time to chase whites. Details: http://looknfishy.blogspot.com/2015/03/spring-break-avoiding-place-and-finding.html
  6. Spoke with Ham and had a great plan. Unfortunately, the weather had a different plan. Decided to stay local. Thx for all the help Ham...hope to get up there asap!! http://looknfishy.blogspot.com/2015/03/anyone-need-waterwe-have-extra.html
  7. I posted 2 hobie videos to my blog a few months ago. Shows the PA and outback on CC and the white...probably worth watching if you're thinking about a hobie. http://looknfishy.blogspot.com/2014/11/hobie-video-featuring-white-river.html http://looknfishy.blogspot.com/2014/11/hobie-video-featuring-my-favorite.html
  8. Yeah, those ascends are heavy and a lot of work to paddle. If you like the idea of a solo canoe, you might look at a native ultimate basic. Basically a solo canoe with a great seat (camp and boating) for the same price as an ascend and around 50lbs.
  9. They are great lake yaks. I wouldn't want one on an ozark river. I know lots of guys use them in the marsh...and carry gorilla tape to repair the fins...very easily damaged from oyster rash. Even if you tuck them up under the hull they'll still be exposed to rocks and gravel. They are a barge to paddle and heavy to load. But you should demo...b/c I don't really know what you want in a yak. Another alternative is a Native slayer propel...13 or 10 ft. The 10 ft is lighter and less $$, but I'm not sure the capacity...you may need the 13ft. You'll still drag but the propel system can be lifted up out of the water while still attached....nice to have it out of the way but still attached to the yak (from memory Hobie doesn't do that...it disconnects and lifts out). 2 people in my family have the 13 ft's an dlove them. They paddle well enough to take down a river and the propel is awesome ...it can go in reverse!
  10. No question, days spent with your kids on the water, are the best. Very cool!
  11. No I stick to Maumelle since it's so close to family. I'd like to hear how it is, if you try it.
  12. I love the run and look forward to it every year. I just posted a AGFC video from last year to my blog. http://looknfishy.blogspot.com/2015/03/looks-like-secrets-out.html
  13. The Little Red River, Heber Springs. Plenty of bank fishing from JFK park, camping also, with water/electricity/trees/plumbing. There are a few other walk in locations that you can bank fish also. Like Ham said the White is also a great fishery...but a couple hours further from Dallas...I drive in from the LA/AR state line. check my blog out for more info...plenty of info for the LRR and camping trip from Jan. http://looknfishy.blogspot.com/
  14. Finally had time to fish. Its been too long. http://looknfishy.blogspot.com/2015/03/cfs-2015.html
  15. Cool reads in the Spring issue. Somehow, something I wrote (pg 14) found it's way into another issue...don't judge the other's from my 2nd grade writing abilities. Link attached to my blog. http://looknfishy.blogspot.com/2015/03/its-hereso-much-water-spring-2015.html
  16. Sorry no details. A friend fwd it to me and I looked up the FB post. Nothing really mentioned.
  17. Bryant police dept FB page posted.
  18. Buffalo River is part of the NPS, so no AGFC access. You can camp at Rush, Spring Creek, Maumee or any gravel bar. Not at Hwy 14 bridge. http://www.nps.gov/buff/planyourvisit/camping.htm
  19. Mark - I can think of several reasons to stay run ready. Standing in the stream, you and a few buddies just realized there's only 1 beer left in the cooler. You're 100 yds from the porta potty and waited till the last minute to exit the water. In less than 2 mins bad things are going to happen. *It's a race if 2 guys have to go! (nah, that never happens) I've seen a few races at Cow Shoals...or fast walking, lol. You told your wife you'd be home at dark...and...you know the rest. I've run out of a lightening storm a time or 5! You almost got killed by a cow moose. Thx Redbird, I'll keep an eye out for them. Just a few...like I said...I just have to out run you!
  20. For those that run or live with someone who does. Some destinations to pack running shoes and fly rods. http://looknfishy.blogspot.com/2015/02/i-just-have-to-out-run-you.html
  21. Nice report. It's been 6 months since I caught a smallie...so I consider your day, a great day!!
  22. Zibra midge under a pinch on indicator, soft hackle or SJ worm. Midge 1st, b/c it sounds like your new to the fly and midges don't have to be fished close to the bottom (no shot). Try placing the indicator 15-18" above the midge. look for rising fish, I seem to find some at the head of the island. Try to cast in front of a rise and let it drift back over. I let it swing at the end of a drift, sometimes that works also. Best in slow moving water. SH next, cast down across and let it swing below you. Or any other way really...hard to fish SH's incorrectly. Best in riffles. SJW...works all over the river. Good luck.
  23. I hear they have a picture of someone matching Ham's description carrying spray paint near the dam... Seriously...it's just a joke. It's a comical blog post circulating on facebook. I just found it humorous and great timing...so I figured it belonged here also!!
  24. Kind of funny...I thought so anyway. http://michiganfly.com/2015/02/17/arkansas-residents-grow-weary-of-michigan-anglers/
