  1. Jason R. Good eye, it is. He bought if from a guide in Steamboat. I tried all day, w/o success, to trade him my kayak...both are poly boats. All I managed was a lift back to the ramp.
  2. Always happy with my purchases from Orvis. Here's a gear review: http://looknfishy.blogspot.com/2014/12/orvis-ss-wader-review.html
  3. Just a quick write up on kayaking in cold weather/water. Nothing fancy. http://looknfishy.blogspot.com/2015/01/cold-weather-kayaking-being-prepared.html
  4. If you have a kayak/canoe you can float the Ouachita river near Malvern and there's the Saline River....but in July may not have any water. Like Hoglaw mentioned stay away from Hamilton...very busy and dangerous!! IMO, fishing is better on Lake Ouachita (Buckville area on north side of lake is great for kayaking)...plus its a beautiful lake. Just avg fishing on Catherine but you'll catch fish.
  5. Fish more...explore more....adventure more... Really I'd like to fish with a few others from OAF...looks like a great group of guys that I could learn a lot from...fishing and in life.
  6. Now is the time. Low generation but probably gonna change with the cold temps. Thx for reading!!
  7. The river is empty and fishing really good...weather isn't for everyone. Details: http://looknfishy.blogspot.com/2015/01/tale-of-2-days-dec-31-and-jan-1.html
  8. Yep...min flow on weekends has been the norm for several weeks. Fish are active!!
  9. The fish didn't care that my hands were frozen solid. They still wanted to have their pictures taken. Great day on the water. Lots of bows several browns. Traveling but will update my blog ASAP. Pics on Facebook @ Lookn Fishy
  10. What are you floating in? In a boat sure!! Kayak...I wouldn't recommend it unless you are VERY familiar with the river. Fishing is tough from a kayak on 2 units...boat control is a real issue....hard to fish and avoid obstacles...or really hard to fight a fish and control the kayak. I'd start down river and avoid it..SB, Libby, Lobo, or Dripping Springs...the further down river you go the more time you have to fish before the water arrives. If you go wear a PFD.
  11. Sounds like a great way to begin a new year...good luck w/ the fish and in the new yr.
  12. Sent you a text...maybe next time
  13. Made the drive up and fished on Sunday. Fish were cooperative. http://looknfishy.blogspot.com/2014/12/secret-to-surviving-holidays-is-lrr-tr.html
  14. 3 WEEKS!! That's a sweet life. Great report.
  15. Couldn't fish this weekend or this week...so I started looking through some old photos. Decided to share one adventure from a few yrs ago. Hope to do a few more but here's the 1st in a series I'll call, "Cast from the Past" Enjoy http://looknfishy.blogspot.com/2014/12/cast-from-past-ozarks.html
  16. How did you do?
  17. I've owned rods from Cabelas, TFO, and Orvis. Lots of great companies out there but it comes down to Customer Service for me. Cabelas - 9'5wt, good starter for me (I broke it this yr - 6yrs of hard use) and great customer service. Replaced with TFO purchased from them and it was damaged in shipment...they overnighted my TFO and I used the new box to return the damaged rod. No questions asked! TFO Pro. II 9'5wt - very happy with it, very smooth and nice flex...just my speed. It's may newest. Haven't had to use CS yet, but hear great things about it. Orvis Encounter 9'8wt for trips to SELA to chase redfish, and my local bass/carp. Orvis makes quality products, if you want a good set-up can't go wrong with them. I've been very happy with Orvis. Best CS I have experienced. They made a mistake on 1 order, that totaled $25....and they refunded the order but didn't ask for the merchandise back. They also sent the correct items a few days later. A month later I received an apology letter and $25. gift card. Top notch CS!!
  18. If you are new to fishing I would recommend starting with cold water species now, trout. If the buffalo is close, then your probably close to the white river also. You'll have more success and probably not get discouraged. Are you planning on keeping fish or catch and release?
  19. Haha, a hookless fly. I'm going to get a few of those for my "buddies" that need to borrow my stuff. Good times!!
  20. Sunday was a great day: Details: http://looknfishy.blogspot.com/2014/12/call-me-crazy-but-in-good-way-lrr.html
  21. Not sure about the flesh but most likely the critters that feed on the flesh!! Came across this on the LRR this weekend...est about 25in.
  22. Sweet vid!! Lets see more.
  23. Sounds like time well spent. Hoping for the day my daughter takes an interest in the fly.
  24. Awesome!! Did anyone else jump out of the way when the indicator was coming at the camera?
  25. Did someone say Guiness?...now it's a party!!
